Sym is a melee range character so she should be along the lines of doomfist and reaper in terms of health. Keep in mind new sym has no shield gen so she becomes super squishy. Adding 50 shields to her health after the rework might be a good idea
with the range increase plus teleporter allowing her to instantly run away and that barrier I honestly doubt they would increase her hp
Id like to wait and see what the rework is like first.
Its not the fact that she has no shield gen. Its the fact that she has no barrier to close the distance anymore. I fear she might go back to her very passive playstyle at launch…
It depends on how far her gun will shoot, and how easy/hard hitting her alt fire at a distance is. Maybe she will be able to fight in more mid range too, like mei and zarya can with primary and alt fire modes.
Hopefully since losing the E barrier is like super bad right now. I was hoping they would decrease its cooldown and increase its size but eh it got reworked…
It sounds like she is getting quite the changes so im kinda excited to see what it is like. Hated her play style before, now might turn out to be a hero i enjoy. Her dmg sounds scary, but if its hard to get in range to do it she might not be good, but ill just wait and see. Recently the reworked heroes/new heroes start out OP and then get nerfed down, so with that id assume she wont be weak when it comes out, but who knows.
No SG, no barrier. She needs 250 hp.
her beam is going to have longer range, alt fire charge much faster and turrets are launched, that will cement her in the range side of the spectrum.
Pretty sure her beam stays the same. (Range wise)
Well the teleporter casting time sounds like it’s pretty far from being “instant”
So when she’s in the thick of combat, she has no self heal, no reliable escape, and high damage.
There are five non-tank characters in the game right now who are designed to be borderline oppressive at close range and almost entirely useless at mid and long range :
- Reaper
- Mei
- Symmetra
- Doomfist
- Brigitte
Four of them have 250HP, and then there’s Symmetra, who only has 200HP for some reason. Why even
unless there was some message from geoff i missed, they changed it to no longer have lock on but have longer range and generous hitbox, i guess it must be like moira.
She is getting more range so i dont think she would need more health
Both her shield gen and her barrier are being deleted, she NEEDS more survivability
we will have to see how they design her kit, my guess is that she will have more range than any of the ones you mentioned earlier , we dont know yet
Not generous hitbox, just width to the beam. For example Zarya’s beam width changes depending on her charge, I am assuming Sym’s beam will be around the higher end of zarya charge in terms of width. Since moira is still lock on but less generous than Symmetra.
But yes, she’s getting range increase, damage increase, and made it beam-like (coalesence/zarya weapon)

And moira’s isnt lock on, its just the animation, its a common missconception.
It’s almost as if they’re increasing her range, and damage while also giving her explosive orbs to compensate.
It’s a lock-on. The devs also described it as such in Blizzcon, but they did say it’s not lenient like sym and it has higher tickrate, so if someone goes behind a wall it instantly disconnects (think like new Sombra hack. Anyway that’s irrelevant.
