New heroes, game modes, and maps in the Battle Pass

I’m genuinely at a loss for words. It doesn’t even matter that some will be available on the free path. My expectations were very low, but Blizzard has still managed to disappoint me.

This doesn’t mean everything will be locked behind grinding a battle pass, battle passes come with some things instantly like new maps for example, stop spreading misinformation from an old announcement

I love not being able to play the new heroes, it’s great. On release, game will literally be OW1 with a dead tank and the occasional broken character running around :skull:

Where are you getting maps and gamemodes being locked behind the pass from that? It’s not impossible I suppose, but I don’t see any evidence to support it and if that were the case, they probably would’ve been listed alongside Kiriko in the leak.

While I’m really disappointed right now, I have to agree with Jagger here. Silly time to dig up an old article and misinterpret it. Plenty to be angry about without doing that anyway.

Ah, my bad. Brain totally blocked that sentence somehow.

That would be beyond odd of a decision and terrible for queues unless it’s a basically instant unlock. Not exactly in-line with other games either.

The time when it was just confirmed heroes will be in the battlepass seems like a great time to bring up this article. Before it seemed like bad phrasing, now it’s pretty much confirmed it’s what it sounds like.

I understand why you’d view it in a new light now, but it just seems incredibly unlikely that maps would be locked. How would matchmaking work then?

Either being able to select possible maps or just controlling which player can get into what.

what if the new hero and map are the level 1 and level 2 rewards?

Then why even put them in the battlepass? It’s obvious it will be a later tier to force people to play. Tier 1 is instant, so there wouldn’t be the notice “Premium pass owners instantly get access to the new hero”.
