Hanzo should get his ult everytime he assist kill someone./s
Hes not even on the ptr yet omg
The volley ability is useful at long, mid and close ranges whereas McCree’s Fan the Hammer feels, to me, mostly like a short range option.
I haven’t read/seen everything about it so I was just curious. Does anyone know how much damage this ability does and how quickly it’s doing it? It felt very cheap to get one-shot before as a tank by the scatter ability and I’m worried if this volley ability does similar total damage in a small enough window that the difference will just be academic.
He should have the quickest movement speed, double jump, wallclimb, and be called Genji. /S
Jumping isn’t the same as Rolling
Its the same thing If they do the same thing (move a little horizontaly). Whatever manuver they do is irrelevant.
I will be forever amused that when the fans started complaining about scatter, Blizzard listened. But instead of removing scatter completely, they saw fit to replace it with a different ability with more damage potential. I feel the joke’s really on the people who complained in the first place.
That all said, complain more about these forthcoming buffs more, maybe we Hanzo players will get something even better.
From the perspective of someone who plays a lot of Hanzo:
-
A good Widow can out-snipe Hanzo. In a Widow vs. Hanzo fight, Hanzo needs to factor in his projectile speed, projectile gravity, firing speed, and aiming distance, all four of which Widow has the upper hand. I’ve sometimes had to switch off Hanzo to Winston just to counter her as she can pretty easily snipe you while you’re trying to aim at her. This is why I don’t consider Hanzo a “sniper” – he’s more of a mid range character.
-
Hanzo feels absolutely useless when there are two or more shields on the other team.
-
I’ve had many instances where I felt that an arrow should’ve hit the Pharah in the sky but it grazed right past her. Many, many instances. It was extremely frustrating.
-
Scatter was an effective strategy against a good Tracer zipping around you. It was also useful against characters making an escape behind a door. It did feel overpowered against tanks at times, but I felt that it helped balance the fight against several other characters.
I don’t think this is a healthy path. The game is speeding up, and the fun of playing an archer is the feel of “slowlines” but deadliness of the shots. I’d rather have the hitbox of the arrows reverted to launch value. Yea it will cause a lot of drama, but if you play a hero like Hanzo you know he needs a bigger hitbox arrow, because of how unreliable it is to hit anything.
I personally like the long range archer feel, and that was totally destroyed when the hit box was nerfed (over crying mind I say).
Even when I was a “One trick widow main” and had never played Hanzo, I always understand the purpose of the “tree trunks arrows” becouse I saw how the arrows had travel time and arc, while I was hit scanning with widow. It’s a huge difference.
Jeff, this is really good to hear.
Honestly, I hate seeing Hanzo on my team… And he’s a very popular character. I got nothing against the player… Just Hanzo himself and his relative inconsistency. I realize the arrows move in slow arcs, but he’s just never felt… compatible with Overwatch were everyone else uses bullets and hitscan. When you first mentioned this rework, I was very concerned. Yes, scatter is a problem - but I felt that it was about the only ability that enabled Hanzo to be consistent. The rest of the time (when not using Scatter), he’s shooting arrows down a corridor until something hits. Taking away Scatter and replacing it with Volley - an ability that (I imagine) needs to be aimed like the rest of his arrows had me fearing the worst - an even more inconsistent Hanzo.
So, I’m happy to hear that this too is being worked on. He really just needs to be more reliable.
Still sounds like McHanzo…
Hanzo doesn’t reload. One pull. One shot.
I’m excited about the changes for hanzo and I really want to try him.
I’ve been spending more time practicing him in deathmatch because everything sounds like he is going to be very good.
If you speed up the arrows I don’t think he will be on par with widow… he will be better!
Hanzo will have more tools compared to her and an offensive ultimate.
Jeff, can you read my mind? Cus everytime I’ve talked to other people about Hanzo, or posted on the old forums, I said that if scatter is replaecd, Hanzo needs an escape, a damage ability so that he can still threaten tanks and flankers, and faster arrows to make him more consistent overall. I really hope these changes reach ptr soon as I can’t wait to not be flamed by teammates for wanting to play my favourite hero!!
Now when Hanzo becomes meta starts destroying kids left and right i hope Blizzard doesn’t listen.
IF Hanzo becomes meta that is.
if im not wrong they reverted that change because it brought a lot of hitbox issues.
they did not revert it, they choose a middle ground… which still very small IMO.
I think most Hanzo players (me included) would very much welcome faster projectiles as it makes him less reliant on an ability that can prove equally random if not used correctly
- With increased projectile speed and volley, Hanzo can effectively pin down and counter snipe at ranges which would normally only see widow winning the duel.
- Volley will do 480 dmg in 2 seconds vs a shield which makes him a more effective barrier breaker.
- Faster projectile speeds allow him to more consistently hit pharahs
- Yes scatter was effective vs tracer, if she didn’t jump over it or blink past it. Volley lets you fire at her head level doing 160 dmg on a headshot, making it perhaps even better vs tracer than scatter.
It will definitely be better vs Tracer.
Specially because according to Jeff you can control how many arrows you fire so you don’t necessarily have to use all your charges at once you can wait until she’s in a vulnerable position.
