New feature no one is talking about

With the last patch they added some stuff, most of which people have already complained about (the new AFK system that kicks players for not leaving spawn and server dc issues or Malevento not releasing after 3 weeks of PTR)

So they added a way better workshop browser, now we can add favourites and it’s way easier to find custom gamemodes.
Nobody is talking about this and it somehow makes me feel sad because it’s a huge QoL update (okay, maybe just a little and simple one) but I love it and I love any QoL update and this feature hasn’t been talked much about.

i can only speak for myself but i dont talk about it because it changes literally nothing for me. i dont use custom game browser. i think a very small part of the playerbase uses it much.

Because it’s not new content and let’s be real not many people use Workshop as their primary game mode.

It’s actually a significant downgrade for me. In addition to simply adding more clicks to get to the game browser, it heavily discourages people from playing anything other than the 6 most popular modes, which aren’t the modes I want to play.

It’s much less common now to have any matches open for other modes, and fewer players join if you host them yourself, so Game Browser is just a worse feature now altogether.

you underestimate how many people use custom games whilst sitting in queue. I feel like my time playing is split 70% actual matches and 30% custom games

i think the other very large part (i guess) is missing out personally…especially if youre someone constantly complaining about lack of content…

the amount of stuff people have come up with is literally ridiculous

It is nothing compared to TF2 and besides ppl are here for the main game because that is the main reason they bought it.

Personally I would rather program a game from scratch than wasting my time to do less with the limited workshop.

everything is relative…its still a lot…and im sure workshop modes are not the reason people play in most games (including TF2)…

Welp, it is way to wait for actual game i guess for many people, but that is not a game they want to play or care that much about. At least i assume since people wait for match long time, but i dont think as many people would wait for custom game matches.

We’re glad you’re enjoying the new custom games browser.

I use custom games to fill the time while I’m waiting in queue, and this new feature has helped me discover some new modes that aren’t aim trainers or parkour of some sort :slight_smile:. My favorites so far have been Flappy Mercy and the Boss Battle modes.

i do believe it’s a cool addition, but i still prefer the old browser, and although it’s still there, i’d appreciate if there was an option to open that section up automatically

It’s on my list of modes to try, along with Genji dodgeball and Ana golf.
