Nerf ALL tanks to Doom’s power level

Unfortunately the terms have become clouded because the League of Legends community adopted what I consider a reverse terminology for “skill floor” and the games popularity has made this usage spread.

  • Normal “skill floor”: how effective a hero can be when played by a beginner. Low skill floor heroes are very difficult to contribute with until you are an advanced player.
  • LoL “skill floor”: how much skill you need to start being effective with a hero. Low skill floor heroes are easy to contribute with even as a beginner.

I guess this is why, there are literally two meanings that contradict eachother going around…

For me,

Skill floor : How effective a character is at the entry skill lvl , for example Mercy has a very high skill floor because there is very little between her floor and ceiling, so shes very effective at entry lvl,

While Doom has a very low skill floor because hes not very effective at entry lvl and has a long way until his ceiling.

So mines the first one, urs is the LoL one right?

I do think some tanks should be nerfed a little but nerfing them all is dumb.

Some tanks are less tank and more high HP DPS. I’m lookin at Orisa and Zaria.

Junker Q, I would nerf carnage bleed some.

D.va’s DM needs nerfed a little. Increase its recharge rate time.

Sigma, Winston, and Rein IMO are in a good place.

Hog is mostly good however he doesn’t bring anything to the team so bring back his team buff while using breather or something.

Wrecking Ball, umm… I donno. I think he’s sorta in the same boat as Hog.

So by “dumb” you mean, “you would prefer tanks to be at a higher power level and sigma, rein and Winston embody that for you”.

No I’ve never played LoL.

Mercy has a low skill floor because you need little skill to have some impact.

The skill floor and ceiling are independent of each other.

You’ve described her having a low skill floor and a low skill ceiling (although I believe that mercy does have a high skill ceiling as I think there is a massive difference between a plat Mercy and a GM mercy).

Nerf only the tanks with overpowered abilities.

Hog
Zarya
Orisa

These are the ones that need nerfs as soon as possible. No hero should be able to walk up to anyone while they can’t do anything in return.

You dont really have to play LoL to use the one the was created from the community, it spreaded to most games.

Thats the thing, skill floor and ceiling are actually connected, as you can tell by the naming, one is the bottom while the other one is the top.

So , the floor and ceiling refers to the power/value you get in regards to your skill level, not how much skill is needed wich is the LoL one i guess.

The LoL community just confused that and torn them apart is what i think happened.

Normal “skill floor”: how effective a hero can be when played by a beginner. Low skill floor heroes are very difficult to contribute with until you are an advanced player.

I think you need to reevaluate your perception that this is the “normal” definition of “skill floor” because in all my years of gaming I can honestly say I have never heard the term used in this way. People might say something is “Beginner friendly” if they mean to describe a thing as you have,

Nice to see you literally ignored the rest of my post. I posted about nerfing some while maybe helping others with some changes or buffs.

I’m not really going to argue with you on what the right definition is but this is the very first time I’ve seen the definition you are using.

I’d prefer to continue using the one I’ve been using as most people I’ve used it with get what I’m saying.

I see why you would see it another way though.

Genuinely, Doom is probably the most balanced of the tanks. Minus his terrible block ability.

Thats not my quote btw, its from the reddit post, i think i learned it that way from watching … Your Overwatch videos bk in the da?

Which is obviously encapsulated in the sentence I did use. How can you bring everyone to that power level without nerfing and buffing the rest?

I did not ignore it, it was superfluous. As was the use of the word dumb.

Agreed and I love Sekiro with all my heart. What a game.

It seems we have - you just need to let go of the past :joy:.

Say it with me… Doom has a high skill floor…

Grr but they are literally the opposite, it gets so !$!% confusing… we gotta find the more acceptable way to go with as a community.

Gamers rise up amirite?

Diesofcringe

That’ll probably just put us back at square one where nobody plays tank.

I don’t know - people still play Doom despite losing with him…

Mind you even atm , Doom is the most valuable piece in their team so even if all of the tanks got nerfed down to his lvl, tanks would still be the most impactful role, though i’d prefer if Doom was buffed a little before to Rein lvl then the rest of the role gets pulled to that lvl.

But what about people who don’t play Doom?

Sorry for the abrupt end to my post btw. I paused before writing where I was going. (I was just going to try to close diplomatically and then the cat sat on my mouse and submitted while I was talking to my brother. Turned around and saw it cradling my mouse and the post submitted.)

Get ready for insane DPS ques.

Who wants to be the games punching bag? All the responsibility, all the effort, but you have to do it after being brought down to the level a DPS can solo kill you.

Balance needs to be brought to the tank roster, but remember the past.

I actually hard agree, if its not RQ than balance is demonstribly worse in OW2, if all tanks were nerfed to doomfist level, than tanks wouldn’t be so broken everywhere.

Ah okay okay okay, sure, i forgive you, oh - !@@$ YOU- oh sh- sry that was my fish, he jumped from the aquarium.
