The little Staff range buff below is because Mercy’s movement is not as good as it was prior to Season 3. Mercy needs several minor improvements to Resurrect so that it does not get canceled as much because other supports have a 10 sec cooldown ability that can burst heal a tank back to full because they can combine it with their primary heal, and it doesn’t even pose a risk to them when they use their 10 sec cooldown; so these improvements to Resurrect are reasonable (these are not even close to instant cast Rez Mercy we had). Her ultimate needs to feel more impactful for Mercy players to enjoy playing her more. These changes are with the Season 4 changes in mind. Here are my proposed changes:
Mercy
Caduceus Staff
Maximum range increased from 15 to 17 meters
Resurrect
Distance from target to interrupt Resurrect increased from 7 to 9 meters
Cast time reduced from 1.75 to 1.6 seconds
Movement speed penalty while casting reduced from -75% to -65%
Cooldown reduced from 30 to 28 seconds
Valkyrie
Duration reduced from 15 to 12 seconds
Ultimate Cost increased from 1820 to 1900 points
Healing increased from 60 to 75 health per second
Damage boost increased from 30% to 40%
Now reduces Resurrect’s cast time to 0.8 seconds
Activating Valkyrie now reduces Resurrect’s current cooldown by 8 seconds
Resurrect is honestly fine to play against as an ability. Stuff like Anti-nade & Immortality Field can easily be considered just as or more annoying than Rez.
Damage Boost is not a problem as long as certain break points are not crossed outside of Valk. Mercy was D Tier in OW2 Season 1, she only went up when Sojourn had her Railgun nerfed to need Mercy damage boost to 1-tap. All they need to do is remove head-shotting from Railgun & revert some of the nerfs they gave to Sojourn.
The pocketing play style is miserable regardless of what hero they are pocketing.
I haven’t seen a pocketed sojourn in a while, probably because sojourn is the dps I think I’ve come across the least in the past month. Seems like no one plays her anymore in qp.
Also no thanx on rez buffs. That’s the last thing I’d want to see. I’d rather just see her moment cds lowered again if the upcoming patch makes them too long.
That’s way too many buffs imo, but I like the idea. I’ve been hoping for rez and valk buffs for a long time. Valks description in the game is that it buffs all of mercy’s abilities, but it really only buffs her movement speed (including ga speed) and her healing and lets her beam everyone at once if they’re close enough.
Rez definitely needs a shorter cast time OR have it reset the cooldown in valk. Nerf dmg boost to 20% increased damage and then give her increased beam range and increase the duration she can beam when out of LOS/range to fix a lot of her clunkiness.
I don’t want mercy to be strong I just want her to feel nice to play :’)
I would be fine if they scrapped rez but gave her 1.5 GA and the critical healing. I’d rather be able to give a consistent impact rather than an ability I use 4 times every 10 minutes to bring someone from spawn.
I know they will never bring it back but I think mass rez if limited to only rezzing 3 people or just not giving invincibility frames would be a better ult for her in OW2.
I barely use rez even if I’m rezzing as much as I safely can. It’s too slow for the new fast paced gameplay. I think her movement was a little silly but even putting it at 2 seconds cooldown should be fine. She needs something in order to keep up with the pace of the new game and currently she doesn’t have anything and I feel very much like original mercy playing hide and seek with the enemy team.
Even with these changes, she would not be anywhere near where she was when she had an instant cast Rez & Valk granted her a bonus Resurrect charge. I think Valk fully resetting Rez’s cooldown is considered too powerful since you could do back-to-back Rez’s.
Yes, it would be back to back BUT she doesn’t have instant cast time anymore, so realistically she would still be really vulnerable still. Like I said I don’t want her to be strong but I think rez needs to be looked at since it doesn’t feel like it fits in the new fast paced 5v5
Idk about that. Would be pretty worthless if your ally’s respawn timer is almost done. I don’t think the ability functioning like that fits the ability name of “Resurrect” that well.
