This is why I think they should let Hammond grapple on to enemy units. 6 seconds to separate pharmercy among other plays.
Double click while latched will allow him to vertical cannonball into the person hes latched on to for no damage but boop them and team or he can just choose to do what he always does when latched to something. He can be a disruption.
You latch on to pharah or mercy and cannonball toward them or just spin and knock them away from one another. EZ pharmercy disruption.

Pharmercy doesn’t offer virtually infinite point stall. That’s the main difference.

man, im not the only guy who thinkl that mercy pocket is a gameplay problem.
1 - you cant balance some heros because they can be too op pocket by mercy, like pharah or ashe.
2 - some pocket duos needs more effort and skills to counter than play.
3 - a lot of matchs are all about use all you effort to try to counter the pocket smurf dps…
Yeah, but Ball shouldn’t either. There are many ways to stop him. With each role having a way to do so.
Tank: Hog Hook, Rein charge, Simga Rock and Orisa Fortify doesn’t stop him fully but does stop I’d say enough for even the worst of aim to hit him, Same with another Ball spinning.
Dps: Doomfist punch, Cass flashbang, Sombra hack, Mei primary, Wall and ice block, and Junkrat trap can catch him when not going full speed (Peraps even full?)
Support: Ana Sleep, Brig Shield bash
I’d say it is incredibly hard to believe that you’re going to be in a game that 5 other players don’t know how to play at least one of these. If we’re going by the forums then at least Hog and Cass will be there as they’re in every game and just soloing teams. So Ball spinning in a circle shouldn’t really be a problem to divert any sort of attention towards.
Even if some how all the heroes listed above are not in the skill set of 6 players. Ball is confined to the space around where he is spinning… in a predictable circle.
Completely agreed OP! Problematic combos that Mercy has single - handedly enables since forever (like Pharmercy) are as much, if not more of a problem than Spin 2 Win which recently got rightfully addressed!
Only infinite if you’re a bad player that can’t shoot a target moving in a predictable pattern.

You’re comparing apples to oranges, just because its both fruit does not mean its the same lmao
Hammond grapple was nerfed because its been an issue that’s been complained about since the beginning of time. There’s many reasons why the devs wanted to get rid of it:
- easy mode stalling (and they have been continuously obvious about wanting to reduce stuff like stalling)
- perma grapple does nothing for your team, especially the higher you climb (the devs likely want to reduce the amount of hammonds who just spin mindlessly while their team fights desperately with a tank whos doing nothing for anyone)
- too many cheesy set-ups or down-time or messing around (personally, even in masters, I’d seen many hammonds just hanging from a ceiling or dangling off maps trying to get back up instead of just dying and coming back, or them hooked to a wall for a minute while they wait for ONE person to round a corner so they can get their precious boop kill)
As for Mercy, she does a flat 55hps. DPS do up to 5x that number in dmg per second, they just need to not miss 100% of their shots. A couple mccree headshots kill through Mercy’s healing EASILY.
Soldier gun + helix can do the same.
Etc.
All she has is flat healing and some dmg boost. On that last meme experimental, they made it so she had to ‘let go’ and stop healing for a few seconds after healing for several seconds. This killed her because she’d have to sit and watch as her ally died and she could do nothing about it. She had no AOE heal to counter this, she couldnt rez in front of the enemy, she has laughable dmg. Why would you play a support like that?
Hammond does not need to grapple infinitely to be an effective hero, but Mercy does.
If they nerfed Mercy’s beam duration they would need to buff the potency.
You could apply the same logic to Ball really. He could do that since launch, why is it a problem NOW?
