My account got banned for "Account Boosting"

Bought a new account so I could ease back into the game after not playing for like 6 months. My friend decided to do the same thing so we both bought new accounts and began levelling them. Hit 25 after a few days of playing and jumped into comp just to get placed silver/gold (previously I was around 2.9-3.1k and they were around 2.4-2.6k). After about 60 levels of comp, I had managed to climb to 3.1k on tank and 2.8k on DPS whilst my friend had climbed to 2.7k on DPS and 2.4k on Tank. But that’s where it stopped cause we both got banned for “Account Boosting”.

Because of this ban, we decided to submit a Support Ticket where we were then responded to with the first paragraph reading this: " I understand that you were looking for an appeal on this third party software action." So not only have we been denied our appeal, the respondant couldn’t bother to write a suitable response to the subject. Here’s the entire e-mail for reference:

Blockquote
This is Specialist Game Master Tuzlarhan. Thank you for your patience while we investigated the Overwatch account action. I understand that you were looking for an appeal on this third party software action.
After a review of the action on this account, we found that the account was in violation of the Terms of Use. ( eula link ) Based on the evidence, we will be upholding the closure on this account. As we have reviewed this action in detail, we consider this situation closed. Future contacts about this penalty may go unanswered, for additional information, please reference the email that was sent to the registered email on the account.
I cannot disclose which programs were used, but in the future I would not use any programs that you think may cause issues. Using any third party software that would benefit you in any way during regular Overwatch gameplay can result in this kind of action.
To continue playing Overwatch you will need to create a new Battlenet account and purchase a new Overwatch license. This Overwatch account will remain closed down permanently.
We hope this has resolved any concerns you may have had. Please feel free to contact us about any other issues you would like to discuss.

If you continue to experience issues, you can reopen this ticket. If you have a new or separate issue, please submit a new ticket.
Make sure you complete our survey to let us know how we did.

This is the entire e-mail, there are no further details disclosed in the e-mail. Just the ticket response copy and pasted.

This is really strange that shouldn’t have happened

Just ridiculous , they shouldn’t have done that at all

The classic “he said, she said” scenario.
Looks like you got banned for cheating, not boosting.

That doesn’t make sense either cause I haven’t cheated lmao. So I have no idea what this “third party software” is that they are referring to.

Clara strikes again.

Who’s Clara? This some kind of known support worker that hates their job?

Clearly you’re running some program in the background that flags the Blizzard team because it messes with Overwatch. Some of them are, IIRC, not hack programs but mouse software, so I would check that first.

However, clearly someone or someones reported you for hacking, Blizzard looked, and identified a problem program, and banned the account. Your appeal reply was basically “Yep, we found a program that’s on the bad list.”

In the future, I’d suggest turning off background processes you don’t need before playing. Safer that way.

new detection algorithm false banning people? or perhaps both were levelled to 25 by an account seller and got flagged :eye:

Haha… I’ve seen that letter from blizz before.

The difference is,

  • One of them explicitly mentions boosting
  • The other… Well…

lets just say some people are bad at the game and envious of players with real performance. If you can’t beat em, buy em, I guess.   :woman_facepalming:t2:

It’s okay. Bootlickers for this game thinks that everything OW does is right and cannot be wrong, they never make any mistakes…

Naaah. You got banned? You deserved it! Would never ban an innocent player.

Can you list the ‘third party software’ you were using, link your Battlenet ID’s and post the original email you got because this seems crazy!

Did you share this account, changed e-mail, or did something that can compromise you this way?

Don’t you all see? He climbed too fast. Bliss must’ve thought a 3rd party must’ve been used.

Game Master Tuzlarhan In particular, is THE most useless person in this entire company. I tried submitting support tickets, and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I get him. He just copy pastes the same responses over and over and over again. He’s never used a single braincell to type on his own free will. I wonder how much money he’s getting paid to literally do nothing.

Customer service is at an all time low, in most companies. That’s a poor excuse for what happened, but I get the same brainless apathetic robot responses from my car insurance and my pizza delivery.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Acti knows how many banned accounts simply buy another copy of the game. Who wants to be the employee that recommends the company reject that cash, you know?

Their ban system is about as good as their matchmaker algorithm; suited to make money, but not much else.

are you sure about it?
Cause i read the response and it says

So like if the story is how you saying it is then try contact them or ask for a refund.
If there is something fishy going on idk

Right. I really don’t understand auto-antagonizing players that have gotten banned. Support isn’t exactly all that, for 99% of companies.
