No it is. You can keep saying it isn’t, but it is. My opinion that OW2 and OW1 aren’t the same game is also an opinion. In my opinion it’s the obvious, logical, and less intellectually fraudulent opinion, but still an opinion.

Are CounterStrike and CounterStrike 2 not different games? Titanfall and Titanfall 2? Basically the same game, with some different adapting here and there. Any Call of Duty ever? Just more adapting. Hades and Hades II? Just some adapting. Last of Us and Last of Us 2? Basically the same game, with some adapting.
Oh God of War games. None of those are sequels. Mass Effect, yeah same game.

You can be sorry all you want, but it is what it is.
Again, the Developers of the game (yeah, those who created and maintain it), already said, that OW2 is OW1 + PvE , with some modifications. PvE is cancelled so do the math.
Again, all those changes you listed, would have happened if the “2” didn’t come in the first place. Just like WoW got its engine reworked etc.

I’ll play along. Where did they say that? Jeff’s announcment? The original plan? The plan changed. A lot changed.
No, some of those changes would’ve come in OW1 and should’ve, but we live in the darkest timeline. I didn’t even scratch the surface of everything that changed, good or bad, from OW1 to OW2. You can theorycraft what would’ve or might’ve happened in the alternate reality where we kept OW1 and got Jeff’s version of OW2, we certainly would’ve had a better cosmetic system, we definitely would’ve gotten more heroes, maybe modes, certainly maps, but that’s a given.
The rest? Passives? Perks? Hero bans (he was pretty set against those)? Stadium? I’d like to think the season 9 changes wouldn’t have happened, but who knows.
Either way, ignoring all the ways the game changed from OW1 to OW2 to claim it’s just the same game, that’s up to you. If it had been the same game, it certainly would’ve been more popular than it currently is, but that’s my opinion.

Some people exist solely to argue with literally everyone, even people who share the exact same opinion, and that’s fine because the forums would be a lot more boring if everyone was living the same reality. I appreciate what they bring to the table because most people would take the hint and read the room before long to preserve their ego; however, some beings are just so powerful that they circumvent the social hierarchy. What are you even looking at? The “most played” section of the microsoft store? What does that even mean? Most hours played? Most users logged in? Is that monthly? Weekly? Daily? Most purchases? It doesn’t give any information at all. In fact, it doesn’t even say that it is in any specific order at all, lol.
The weird thing is that it has fortnite listed as #1 (if you believe it is a ranking list) for most played games, but if you click on top free games, fortnite is #4, lol. What does that mean??
I don’t think it is in any particular order, except maybe like what google does, where you can pay to have your game listed first.
At any rate, I couldn’t find anywhere where they actually say anything about it, so I’m not sure I would take that as “fact.” It would be nice if they actually explained how they list them though, because it would be somewhat interesting to see player count (not that it really matters at all).

It really seems like some people’s entire personality is “Overwatch” otherwise, why would you fight so hard to show that a supposed competitor is already on its deathbed
Lets be real, OW and MR wont die anytime soon and thats good. Why some OW hardcore fans want MR to die makes no sense to me
