Moira Update: Increasing her skill floor and cap

I’m also gonna point out the fact that this DoT ignores armor so it’s actually not as bad as it seems. DoT effects in general ignore armor whereas beam damage gets reduced by 20% flat.

It’s stuff like this, that make people not respect anything about Moira players.

Well we can also point out that beams ignore defense matrix and deflect. Plus most flankers you will be dealing with won’t have armor.

I’m not against moira getting some changes to her beam and damage. Just pointing out that you can’t use Ana as a base for how much damage her beam should do because the way they apply damage is so different.

Sounds gud.

Though I’d make a tiny nerf to fade in that it plays by the same rules as Reaper’s wraith form. As in, she can’t use it to escape from Junkrat’s trap or Zarya’s graviton (that’s still the case for Reaper, right?).

It always annoyed me that she basically has the ultimate get-out-of-jail-for-free card, while all other ones have some restrictions to them.

Mind you, i made the comparison because the other person said that no support deals that kind of damage (80dps).

Oh yea for sure that’s wrong lol even looking at Mercy doesn’t she do like 20 damage per shot at 5 shots a second? That’s 100dps and she’s definitely not op.

The trap part makes sense. Graviton doesn’t though since Reaper can still escape that one, main reason being I think it’s not an actual “dash” but more of a massive rush of movement speed + invulnerability.

Isn’t Moira already unable to escape bear traps via Fade? She definitely can slip out of Grav that way, and she can buy herself some time by using Fade while clamped, but I seem to remember that she’s unable to move and that Fade doesn’t last as long as bear trap.

Projectile shots are a lot harder to hit on moving targets than hitscan hence the larger DPS.

I’m almost 100% sure that she can’t unless something has changed in one of the last patches. Goes to show how many people actually play Moira lol.

@OP I think this is a great baseline idea that could use some tightening up here and there. I like the idea of the exploding orbs adding utility. I think the degree that her biotic grasp hitbox is tightened up would ultimately dictate what is an allowable DPS. I do agree a cone is more in line to her original vision than trying to make it pixel perfect hitscan or something.

That’s what I don’t know anymore. Originally he could escape it, but at one point graviton was buffed that Reaper couldn’t escape anymore and now I don’t know anymore how the interaction works.

If I recall correctly I think she can… unless that’s been changed somewhere in the last half year. I really haven’t been playing enough anymore to know the details of all the current interactions… but I’m fairly certain she could originally.

Both Moira & Reaper cannot escape bear trap, and reaper and moira both can escape Grav.

Iirc I used to believe it’s so.

Imo it should be pinpoint on max range (so it becomes a real cone)

And, I think it don’t need 70 dmg, 60 dmg 35 self heal is better.

With this sort of mentality and balancing principal moira will either be the best healer or niche for the rest of her existence.

This is a fairly balenced kit for moira. We could make the orb bounce off barriers and that could get alot of value for your team if you bounce it correctly.However im worried about this bouncing off bariers thing.Imagine the new kit Zwie made and the bouncing orbs thing was tested on ptr an ur trying new moira in echienwalde. If they cover the choke with barriers then moira has to flank to use her orb.Thats not iedael for supports and what if we give a detonating animation that lasts for lets say 2 seconds and in that 2 seconds the orb can pass through barriers.and the area of the effect goes through barriers as well.An extra thing to learn.I will take suggetions and if you can point a problem in this bouncing off barriers thing then tell me.

There are four heroes currently that can escape graviton.

Moira,Reaper,Orisa and Symmetry.
Well in symmetry’s case she can make everyone escape it but its situational at most.

Becuase dpsing as mercy is horibble comparied to if she heald like she should.

Not really, if she had no self healing with it as well then sure, but 80 DPS + 20 HPS? That’s ridiculous.

winston requires gamesense and how to use ur cooldowns.mercy needs basicly good positiong and gamesense.Unlike moira Who dosent have to aim and due to her fade she can be in bad psitions every 6 seconds.Then her orbs are justn outright dumb.

Six actully.rien can earthshatter out if hes in midar.but if ur touching the ground and shatter then you get scooped right back up.Sombra can translocate back if her translocatorr is not in grav.
