Moira Update: Increasing her skill floor and cap

feels like moiras skill ceiling can be reached after 2 hours of playtime

even with the beam being shrunk its still gonna be easier to hit than the other supports, especially since it still wont have to reload and im assuming it will still self heal

yeah im surprised people haven’t acknowledged the heal orb changes, im wondering if that would overshadow lucio or not

So two shots, okay fair. He can’t shoot a third of shot. Does this new Moira get damage drop off?

Neither of them have Moira’s survivability or mobility. Ana has nade, but that is long overdue for a nerf.

I don’t know, man. A 30% decrease still sounds a lot easier than aiming with any other character aside from fully charged Zarya or Symmetra.

I feel 80 dps seems fairly reasonable.
She’d be a raw healing/damage support with no utility.
Sure, the beam hitbox might need further tweaking though. But provided she has to aim, (which also means less healing as her resource cauge would become harder to fill) that would absolutely be in line with the other supports.

Moira’s range ends the same range as McCree’s falloff, there’s also the fact that it’s more bursty damage which is more likely to secure kills.

Probably is, but at the same time they can do almost over double her DPS and don’t have to worry about keeping their team alive.

Never argued with that.

I always supported that all heroes should have a high skill ceiling as possible. Moira’s mechanical skill ceiling as a hero is very low, and many people want her ceiling raised too (including many Moira mains).

Having a low skill ceiling doesn’t necessarily means that the hero is overpowered though. It usually means that these heroes will be either be unplayable in high levels, or dominant in low levels.

For me, a low skill ceiling is a design failure.

And I also believe that moira’s ceiling can be raised. But I don’t believe she’s OP, like some people claim in these forums. She just has a badly designed skill ceiling.

Well how would a character not take more skill than left-click-to-teamkill-Blanji?

But anyhow back to the thread, the exploding orbs idea is fancy, but I feel that it’d overcomplicate a character with a focus as sharp as Moira. She does healing. Unlike the other supports, it’s very difficult to stop her doing it, but she’ll stop on her own, having to recover resources.

In that regard, I would rather see a healing and a choking cloud. Keeps the focus.

Agreed.
I want a meta full of high skill babes.
If Moira had a high skill ceiling, i wouldn’t be nearly as opposed to her being meta.

no this rework gives her utility read the orb reworks

this rework gives her high HPS, keeps her survivability, gives her utility, and gives her high DPS

Forgot to reply to this almost but yeah exactly.
Sym beam is a good example of this, isn’t too noticeable but the hitbox is a reverse cone.

Eh

Either tighter cone for 60 dmg/sec or a cleanse orb

This much…is just too much for a character that’s already closed to balance

At max her spray becomes single target like Mei’s beam used to be, but I wouldn’t even know how that would work so I’m indifferent with keeping the area heals

Oops, i guess i overread that part.
But still. Just 80 dps isn’t that out of the ordinary.
I agree that giving her all 4; damage, survivability, healing power and utility would be a bit much though.

Her effective HPS and DPS are the same as live when you combine her orbs and primary/ secondary, the main changed was taking numbers out of her orbs and putting them in the Moira’s control. She’d have to aim to achieve most of that DPS and manage her resource properly to have high healing uptime.

Her orbs are also not going to be up as frequently due to the cooldown changes.

Yeah, giving the Moira more control if they’re putting in the effort would definitely be a welcome change. But i can see why people could think that everything combined would be a bit much. I do like most of your ideas though.

Would love tighter beam with more healing regen as compensation.

Ana does 70 damage over 0.6 seconds damage over time at 1.25 seconds per shot.

1.25 shots per second. Which translates to 87.5 dps (damage per second)

Yea but it takes .6 seconds for the damage to fully apply from one shot which means it takes 1.2 seconds damage over time to get the full effect

Moira’s value is primarily in her healing. I don’t want her to have her skill ceiling increased, only so she can do more damage. Make her take more aim, increase succ self heal, buff her ultimate and her primary fire healing.

Ehh… I don’t really think the DoT matters that much.
You’ve already applied the effect. You already guaranteed the damage. By the time your next shot comes around the damage has already been dealt.

The damage over time definitely matters. It can mean the difference between if you can kill a flaker before they kill you or not. The damage over time means that 70 damage from the shot doesn’t apply all at once while your attackers damage will apply all at once giving them a chance to get healed or finish you off before they die. The goal after all is to survive so you can keep your team alive.
