Mercy Rework- Is this the solution?

Healing buffed to at least 55hps, 60hps is what we want because it makes Mercy so much better, when they nerfed her healing to 50hps, mercy essentially became the worst healer, you would never want to take her because of how she can’t use her abilities that would stop her healing. This means that she couldn’t afford to damage boost and res because she’d stop healing the team so they would die. Buffing her healing would mean that she can afford to use damage boost, and her ult will come up quicker. Now her healing is buffed in her ult, we just need it to be buffed normally, even if it is only to something like 55hps.

Caduceus staff damage boost - Her damage boost I think is fine as it is now, it’s a great way to make Mercy useful when she’s not healing and it combos great with heroes like pharah, and basically any hitscan hero like widow and McCree. It also helps other heroes to get their ults quicker and it also combos with loads of ults like tact visor, barrage, coalescence and many others. It also combos with abilities like helix rocket and hook.

Guardian angel - again, this ability is balanced, it is a great way for Mercy to escape etc Maybe they could increase it by something small like 1/2 second to prevent mercy from being an extremely mobile and op heal/res bot, she does need to have some weaknesses. Maybe she could also only have 175 hit points instead, just to make her a little easier to kill and make sure that she’s not unkillable.

New ability - Halo. This would replace res as an E or L2 ability on PS4. Mercy has a new ability called halo. She can give haloes to allies in a similar way that zen can give allies a harmony orb to allies. Mercy has 2 haloes originally and 3 with her ult. An Allie who dies whilst wearing a halo can be resurrected by Mercy. She can fly to their corpse, much like in her current state, and resurrect them. The res would only take a small amount of time, around 0.75 seconds so that Mercy can make frontline resses if she was a good player and was able to choose the right time to fly in. An Allie who becomes resurrected would lose the halo, it would return to Mercy and be on a 25 second cooldown before she could place it on an ally again. When Mercy attempts to make the res, if she is stunned or knocked back or the ability is cancelled by any other means, she would not be able to re-attempt the res and the Allie would die and return back to spawn. When an Allie is not resurrected and returns back to spawn, the halo would return to Mercy on a 15 second cooldown before she could cast it to someone else. If allies who both have haloes die within close proximity to each other, Mercy could res them at the same time. This would make it easier for Mercy to res 2 people if they die at the same time, and it would bring back some elements of Mercy’s old ultimate which many players miss a lot. Once Mercy gives someone a halo, she cannot change it to another person, unless she willingly removes it from them and faces the full 25 second cooldown. This would be useful if Mercy gives a halo to the wrong person before the game starts, or after a fight when your Zen no longer needs protecting and your Genji, who is about to make a crazy flank, does. This ability is balanced because it may seem like Mercy can res a lot more people, but she can’t res people who don’t have haloes. This would require her and the enemy team to strategise, she would have to prioritise healing people without halos, and the enemy team would have to try and work out who has a halo on and economise on it. Enemies can see which teammates had haloes on when the teammates die, they should try to guard the corpse to prevent Mercy from ressing. If the enemy successfully does this and kills teammates without haloes or kills Mercy herself, they would almost definitely win the fight because there is no way for Mercy to resurrect herself or non haloes allies. I think that is all there is to halo as an ability, feel free to reply questions about it!!!

Ultimate: Valkyrie - Valkyrie would remain the same as it is now except for a few things:

  • Valkyrie no longer has chain beam healing, instead, Mercy has increased healing to 100 hps and 40% damage boost. This would mean that Mercy’s ultimate now makes it harder for less skilled players to juggle their beam correctly, better skilled Mercys would be rewarded for their good beam juggling while bad Mercys would be punished. I am not sure of the current figure of Mercy’s beam range during Valkyrie, but I would definitely decrease it so it is just a bit further than normal. This would mean that Mercy would be closer to the ground, enabling the enemy team to have some counterplay to her, she may get stuck in grav/shatter/bomb/minefield range, enabling the enemy team to have a chance to kill her.

  • Mercy has increased movement speed and range on guardian angel, this would mean that Valkyrie can be used for Mercy to get somewhere quickly all the way from spawn

  • Mercy can grant a third Halo to another teammate. Teammates with haloes on receive buffs like 20% damage reduction and 15% damage boost. This would not stack with Mercy’s 40% damage boost, if Mercy damage boosted an ally with a halo on during her ult, it would just increase from 15%-40%. This means that haloes are now more rewarding, they will now be able to combo with Rein and Genji ults, but not as much as Ana’s nano boost offers. The third halo granted by Mercy would remain after the ult, but instead of going on cooldown whether the ally is ressed or not, it would simply disappear.

-Mercys ult will be a lot harder to get. A combination of the facts that her ult would be a lot better and she would get more charge from more healing means that it at least needs to have a 130-150% charge time compared to what it is now. This ult is also a lot more impactful, when it is used, it should guarantee the fight, this is why it would be the longest charging ult across the whole roster. A good Mercy would be able to get this ult every other fight if they were constantly healing/ damage boosting and not wasting time damage boosting the wrong targets or over-healing.

Now, as a final point, let’s make a list of why you would take this reworked mercy:

-better healing- her healing now competes a lot more with Moira and Ana’s healing but it is still situational because it has no aoe or burst healing

-ability to resurrect multiple teammates, but only specific ones

-able to provide minor buffs to allies anywhere on the map during ult, haloes are not removed when line of sight is broken

-best movement

-able to pocket pharah and bastion

-strong impactful ultimate which can really change the fight

From this, we can clearly see that now all 3 main healers are balanced, they each have their own place and niche, have lots of different strengths and powerful abilities that really fit in well with different comps. This new Mercy would not be very well suited to tank heavy comps because of lack of aoe and burst healing, or comps with high survivability as she wouldn’t really get value from her halo res. But with dive or poke, she could really excel, at giving that tracer enough protection to survive an insta kill during new valk, or giving her widow comfort in knowing that if she loses the sniper battle with a halo on, Mercy would be able to easily resurrect her.

Please reply and ask questions, when I commented this on other youtuber’s videos, the feedback has honestly been insane. Really appreciate it, thanks!!!

Blizzard said they dont want to remove resurrect.

It’s too important to Mercy as a character.

Mercy without resurrect is not Mercy.

(EDIT: I didn’t see Rez on ult or E, so I thought it was removed. If this iteration were to be implemented, it would lead to an even worse Mercy meta than before)

Current mercy is actually balanced, and good.

Mass rez that isn’t an ult? Way op.

She could just wait, and put the halo on a hero that is about to die.

They can’t see it?

Except for the fact that this doesn’t win you a fight currently. And now you are giving mercy more healing and multiple ressurects.

So it wouldn’t be a problem If she was killed?

And she heals a lot more…

Even stronger…

No ult should.

Except mercy is a lot stronger than the other two.

sral94-2751, thanks for these points, may I explain your queries?
Mercy ressing multiple people at the same time would be very unusual, it would almost never happen since it would be very situational. If this proves to be too op, just remove it
Waiting until people would die would not work, since if they were killed very quickly or instantly, she wouldn’t be able to react. If they were headshot by widowmaker, she would have no time to save them and she would probably be focusing on doing other things rather than having to concentrate on when someone is about to die.
Enemies can’t see who has halos on your own team
It’s not the same as multiple resspurrects since she can’t res anybody, it is in a way worse than resurrect, so having 2 normally makes it balanced.
It would be a problem if she was killed because she is out of the match for 10 seconds and the journey until she can fly to someone would also take a significant amount of time, the enemy probably would have one the fight in that time.
The buffs to healing and damage boost and res during Valkyrie are balanced because she can only do one of these things to one teammate at a time. Valkyrie would charge very slowly and be the most impactful ultimate, you say no ultimate should guarantee the fight, but what about things like a well coordinated graviton surge or EMP, these ultimates would also very likely win the fight, (if your team is good). Mercy’s ultimate would also depend on if her team was good, you could not use it to carry the fight.
Thank you again for these comments, they are very helpful!

Would it? You would have halos up every 25 seconds. So once every team fight.

If one or two people die to an ult, you could rez them right away.

But most people die over some time. A tracer jumped your zen? You have time to react.
Reinhardts barrier went down? You have time.

And what about d.va, does the halo work through a de-mech?

She is a healer, that can heal while looking at other heroes than the ones she heals?

So how can they know who she can ressurect?
This would make her ult even more op.

How? It has a reduced cast time by up to 4,5 seconds.
A reduced cooldown of 35 seconds.

Why should the easiest healer have the most impactfull ult in the game?

Neither of them guarantee a win.
Grav has counters, and emp doesn’t stop damage nor healing.

You clearly could.
On lower ranks, 100 healing per second is already strong, especially since it doesn’t take any aim.
Adding 20% damage reduction and 15% damage boost to 3 heroes is insanely strong.

Think about goats, where instead of brig, you ran mercy. Brig has a healing of 41 per second.
Her ult gives about 1-2% damage reduction.
She has a dps of 83.

Your mercy has a healing of 100 per sec.
Your ult gives 20% damage reduction to 3 targets.
And you give 3 targets 15% damage boost as well.
And you can ressurect 3 people at once.

That 15% damage boost would likely go to Rein, zarya and d.va.
This would give you a total of 62 extra damage per second, just from the tanks.
