Mercy Res "Your teammate is switching!"-indicator?

Hi! Wouldn’t it be nice if there’s an indicator next to your teammate’s “soul”, that shows they are attempting to switch hero? I’m kind of done ressing people only to be yelled at “I was switching!!!”, without any sort of vocal or written notice.

Please this. All I have now is to rely on a teammate spamming “no” when I approach their soul

Thats their fault lmao.

I know! I just feel like it’s avoidable with a little checkmark or symbol, haha.
I also like the idea that some people have had previously, of giving the person being ressed the option to cancel it (hopefully refunding a large chunk of the cooldown).

Well, the solution was supposed to be just talking to your mercy, but people don’t really like doing that nowadays, so you know.

I mean, there’s also quickplay/arcade to consider. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in chat that isn’t being toxic lol

Ive honestly never been a fan of that idea just because it takes away a lot of decision making from Mercy. If you get spiteful teammates it’ll be a problem for her.

It is not as though I have my mic set up specifically so that I can tell a Mercy not to rez me after I consider a swap out of frustration. Rofl. It is not THAT big of a deal that I need to go that far out of my way to prevent it.

Yes this would be great, I would love to have a “teammate is switching” indicator. I usually don’t notice if they switched until it’s too late because I am trying to focus on playing the game.

I know what you mean if you’re on a desktop. I’m a laptop person, so I always have a mic built in.

We need a spray “Do not resucitate”.
No but FR, if the target has pressed H it should disable the res but Comms are there for a reason.

I guess the best solution is to have an interact key that we can press ala symm tp so that when a mercy is rezzing if you didn’t press the key it will cancel the rez.

“Then die again” is the appropriate response.

It’s so easy to type “plz don’t rez, I’m switching” that blaming the healer seems trivial and butt hurt lol

to compensate you could slightly increase the res cast time to 1.9 sec

How? She uses ability. Person cancels. Mercy goes about her business unimpeded in anyway shape or form. Now it’s usually bad to not take a res but there are times when a Mercy doesn’t realize the state of the fight and goes for it (not on her specifically as it happens to everyone).

Unimpeded? Mercy using ga to get to a soul, then suddenly she cannot get a rez in. Now she has no backup and has to quickly ga. Theres literally no chance she doesnt get a cooldown for a cancelled rez because that would be abused.

Spiteful teammates refusing a rez and putting mercy into a bad position is “unimpeded?” As is.

Part of what makes a good Mercy vs a bad Mercy is choosing which risks are worth it. You wanna take that skill away? If a Mercy chooses a dumb rez she should be punished. However if a rez that also couldve saved point is cancelled by abother teammate who thinks they know better takes away Mercy’s agency. Youve never seen teammates scream at Mercy calling a rez bad, and yet that very same rez won the team fight?

Everyone else wants to tell Mercy what to do instead of letting her play her own kit.

I actually haven’t seen people call a res bad for it to win a fight. More common is for a res to to lead to a stagger that loses the round.

You talked about agency but being able to cancel the res takes nothing away from Mercy. She still has every available option to her and none of those options are gone. If the res is in a dangerous spot she is using GA to get away anyway while the res takes effect. In fact being forced to take the res takes agency away from the other player.

Basically if a loss of player agency is your concern being forced to accept the res is the only scenario where any is lost.

You seriously think mercy being unable to pick who she rezzes doesnt take away her agency? Got it, you dont play her.

I could see teammate-cancelable Resurrects working as long as they refunded Resurrect’s cooldown (or at least most of it). And if teammates can cancel Resurrect, I see no reason why Mercy herself shouldn’t be able to cancel the Resurrect, too - but with less of a cooldown refund, so as to mitigate too many “bait” plays with it.

Or, alternatively, teammates could just be Resurrected as whatever they were switching to - hopefully with some kind of indication like OP said, just in case the swap might make the Mercy player change their mind about the Resurrect. That could also work.
