How do you know all that ? Did I miss something ?
Iāll just say my final piece on Symmetra.
I fell in love with Sym 2.0. She was the first hero I ever played, and Stevo was the first streamer I ever watched. Symmetra was super interesting as a character in an FPS game. Iād never seen anything like her before.
After I found out they were reworking her, I knew she wouldnāt be my fav character anymore. Donāt get me wrong, I love the Mercy rework, and I love the Hanzo rework. I donāt think reworks inherently ruin a hero, and I also donāt think Symmetraās rework will ruin her. In fact I think the new Sym sounds fun to use.
I already flex a lot. In fact, I call myself a Brigitte main because she has my favorite kit, but I have more time on Moira and Mercy because more often than not the team comp calls for something other than Brigitte OR Brigitte has already been picked.
Looking at the projected changes for Symmetra, I definitely think she will be more viable. She sounds like sheāll be like Mei. A hero with good uses in certain team comps/on certain maps but not a āallroundā good DPS hero like Soldier. I think thatās a good place for her.
Iām sad my old favorite is going. But then, she already stopped being my favorite when I reached a point of being fed up with how much she gets screwed over by BS that she shouldnāt.
Right now Brigitte is definitely my favorite. Her kit is very fun and I have enjoyed playing her a LOT even in some of the tougher situations. And I think I realized my fun on Symmetra was similat. it existed in a particular meta. And that meta changed. In this meta I enjoy Brigitte more than Sym
Metaās different. Iām different.
I wish you Sym mains luck with this hero, Iāll be playing Brigitte.
I am really mad at them for this. They said before that they didnāt want to remove characters from their role or create completely new ones by destroying the old one. They somehow forgot this and Artemmys (symmetra spelled backwards. actually really badass name LOL) was created. I wish we could have our support back! If there is anything this game needs it is more support/tanks NOT dps!!!
I think removing is a little extreme, and I think a large part of this sentiment comes from her gun being reworked.
Her gun is one of the most essential identity of her which is why it might feel completely different than before. However, her teleporter and turrets are still there and I think the changes might be open really interesting strategies for her.
I do agree that their decision seems to be made with the addition of Brigitte in the game. Itās after her being in the game they can give Sym a large scale rework. I hope at the end, the gun change wonāt be as drastic as they claimed to be.
I know maybe itās a bit extreme, but no other rework was this extreme, just see Dva, Mercy or Hanzo, they got a rework but all of them maintain some of her old skills and new ones added. Sure new Symm have a teleporter and some of her turrets but completely diferent use of them, itās not Symmetra, it sounds like another Vishkar hero. And yeah reworking entirely her gun is like giving knifes to McCree instead of his revolverā¦
I do like some things of the rework but I cant recognize Symmetra in the overall image. Also I feel very disapointed that they give up on the idea of non-healing supports, itās a big fail of the devs impliying supports=heal and they stated tons of times before that support doesnāt mean heal, and now Iām confused because everything was special for Symm (antiflanker, hp advantage) is stealed by Briggite.
Absolutely! Support does not mean Heal! Anyway, This whole thing feels like a rushed out rework since there is no synergy within the abilities of her kit. Wish they had not listened to all the people who told them that Symmetra needed to move class.
I know its still in DEV right now, but anyone else feel uneasy about her overall rework. I appreciate the attention she is getting, but they never even fixed her in the first rework. She needed more quality of life changes on top of the 2.0 rework. Then they go and entirely change her without fixing her first.
The 2 seconds it takes to get to the next charge has me concerned especially sense she does not have lock on anymore and from the sounds of it sheās been reworked only to break shields and not much more. I donāt see getting too much use out of the turrets unless they do something great like remove movement abilities, her orb soundsā¦ interesting, especially when fighting tracer, but it all just feels like its missing something to make her really on par with other heroes. Maybe its her ult, that sounds rather silly in my opinion.
Will her health increase to make her be able to survive needing to charge her primary for four seconds? 200 aint going to go far for her, maybe 275 and have 75 be shields? Will her primary also take 2 seconds to lose charge? It feels like she loses it a lot faster than one second nowā¦
I know I should just wait for the next update but the lack of information is making me nervous and I just want to play symm again. (not in this meta)
Youāre right man. Its making me feel uneasy too. I feel like the kit is super disjointed and has no internal synergy.
Just want to let everybody know, Symmetra has a 100% win rate in Overwatch Contenders SA
Hereās literally every time sheās been picked. (skip to 7:55)
As you can see, she wins every single time she is used.
Not to mention that no other rework has a character changed āROLEā from Support to Defense. Symmetra is the first.
She recieved many First
First to be reworked symm 2.0
First to have two ultimates
First character to be changed From supp to def.
First to be the only character not used in OWL.
Okay, I have to admit. Iām starting to like the Sym rework. They said her TP is now a two-way door, which means she can literally save her entire team from a grav
Hereās the quote.
Lookās like weāre getting a Grav-Strike counter.
Hanzo was on āoffenseā class back in Beta, then switched to defense. Granted, not so radical change as from support to defense, but she is not the first
I like this tp idea a lot better. Thatās one change I can get behind. It can act as an escape, gives us mobility, we could use it as a pseudo barrier (300hp), and depending on the trigger CD we can potentially tp dance. Weāll also be able to bring people to us, giving a bit of the old functions; we might be able to clutch tp save, if its good enough. I like this setup more than the item tp way more.
Iām a bit worried about the turrets air popping. The turrets still entails some foresight placing like the old oneās and this emphasizes that play more. Hope they pump the turrets to still be worth it, maybe give us 4 if they lose mid combat viability?
Now Iām just concerned with getting the enemy/barrier piercing orbs back. Iām more concerned about the new orbs now to be honest.
Im talking more like First in reworks stuff,
Beta? Its common knowledge that it is on early stages and may change on final game.
But im talking about the final game where it is officially released and then undergoes rework to certain character so yes Symmetra is the first.
This is the main concern I have. No adjustments have been made to her existing kit in an attempt to improve her viability. They skipped tweaking the knobs and jumped straight to completely rebuilding her. My first steps would have been to give her current centuries more health and removing the CD for constructing them (infinite charges but still 6 max) and buffing her damage, and moving her to defense, but they didnāt even seem to try. Will the same thing happen with Sym 3.0 if she turns out to have just as low a pick rate?
This is Sym 3.0. They have reworked her once before and it failed. They added shield gen and projected barrier to her kit.
Anyone else feel that the rework may change too much
It couldnāt change too much for me, Iām really excited to see what theyāve come up with.
