McCree needs buff

So why does McCree have a damage drop off after 20m’s? The only reason for this would be the game developers are intending for him to play at close range but yet he only has 200 health with no self healing and no escape ability? Give the man 250 health or take away the damage drop off already.

Not even beta. For the week after Ana was introduced, McCree’s range was 32M, but the min damage was reduced to 18. Turns out that was too much, especially in the era of 50% discord orbs, so it was reduced to 22.

McCree’s gun doesnt need changes, he succs cuz he cant shoot much since he dies so easily to diving characters i think he needs more survivability like giving his roll invencibility time, like 12 frames or so and dispell him so that he can survive a dive more often, but not all the time, cooldown could be reduced by 2 seconds or so too.

One thing I’ve been wondering about is if it would be broken to give him 2 flashbangs. Given Brig I really can’t see that being too OP unless they do some kind of synergy, but if you need 3 stuns in a row to kill someone I think you have bigger issues.

Dont, it wouldnt be op cuz barriers/Defense Matrix are a thing but it would just suck to play against and with, just buff his roll instead.

We don’t need even more CC in the game ,and I say this with mccree being my 2nd most played.

What mccree needs is more survivability ,starting with a smaller hitbox ,because right now if a reaper shot him from 30M away ,provided there is no fall off ,I’m pretty sure that the reaper would one-shot him.

his health is bad for his trash mobility

i’ve said it once and ill say it again, soldier will always be better than mccree if he doesn’t get changed

sure double tapping someone to kill them is nice but realistically that doesn’t happen very often, the best mccrees doesnt even reach 20% crit

His Hitbox is also HUGE for his health-pool, Reaper can one shot him from like a mile away, and Tracer also does alot of dmg to him cuz of that.

honestly mccree should be given armor because he is simply the easiest dps to kill imo

im doing fine, playing him normally with my team, random damage, died

it happens so often its not even funny, i watch streamers too and it happens to them as well

Armor is prolly too much, specially cuz of his cow-boy identity, again, his roll getting buffed to allow him to dodge a dive at least some times is the way to go, would also add to his skillfull repetour, dodging thru stuff , ever so randomly tbh would be cool, specially if he dispelled Discord on him and some other debuffs like Ana nade.

not adding armor to his normal health but removing 50 health and giving him 50 armor should increase his average health slightly

Still doesnt go with his identity imo, cowboys dont wear armor (usually)… give him other type of survivability that makes more sense, i say, tho 25 shields would make some sense considering he has a robot arm.

what do you mean identity? he wears armor on his normal skin anyways

I do think that mccree needs a change. Even my moira can counter mccree. I have mastered myself in the art of quick clicking. Once he gets close i use shadowstep. While he throws his flashbang, im already at a considerable distance. Draining his life. Suckig his life force. Seeing the light fade away from his eyes.

they could increase the range before drop off but he was stupidly op without it, he easily 2 shot widows at any range, making widow completely useless, drop off makes it so that widow has some uses at least.

THIS ,the hitbox is just too damn large ,and that’s what’s causing him to be literally unplayable without a pocket mercy.

We should give him a smaller hitbox ,if he’s still bad after it then 50 armor ,then he should be good. (if he’s still trash then 2 seconds less on roll and maybe FB)

I mean… its like body-armor but not the type to justify armor health, lots o characters wear armor, like Pharah and stuff but yeah i get that its nit-picky and all that, but when looking at characters that have armor say, wot, Bastion/D.va/Rein/Brig/Torb/Orisa and Winston, characters that are bulky and go with the fantasy of having armor, for the most part, Winston has the least amount cuz hes mobile and all that.

Idk… it just feels weird giving McCree armor, i cant quite put it into words lol, i feel that hes supposed to be this “BAMF” guy that just rolls everyone with his 6 shooter and wouldnt wear armor cuz hes a BA, ya know? xd, balance-wise its fine, sure, but i prefer something else as survivability option.

Not really… While Soldier is better on paper, his lack of a reliable burst hinders him at higher elos, while McCree can take on every squishy in one second flat (Half a second if there is a single headshot) and can be nasty against tanks and their large head hitbox.

The Problem is more Hanzo, since Hanzo is great at mid-long range and his rework improved his close range performance. Hanzo also has more mobility, so he can easily escape the dive, where McCree has to stand and fight. Not too much of an issue against a single flanker like Tracer or even Winston, but McCree is not likely to survive the whole team focusing him without support.

His left click is mostly if not completely fine, and while FTH is not good in general use, it is still a part of the Flash-fan combo and bursts down shields fast. Combat roll, on the other hand, does too little for such a lengthy cooldown, and flashbang is frustratingly wonky. Most recommendations for McCree buffs are to buff combat roll outright, with everything else at most getting QoL changes.
