How does he keep getting away with it in the first place?
The question is, what would you like to die to instead, and what would feel more fair to you? If not McCree, there are plenty of heroes that would one shot you instead.

The image is anecdotal evidence of people using him, nothing else. His stats are some of the worst out of any DPS (Especially bad for any META hero atm), not even winning more games than he is losing in most ranks. You guys are too blind to see over your hate filled noses, that only experience your own gameplay and make assumptions based on those.

He is ridiculously overbuffed. When Roadhog suffers from McBot more then from his main counter pick (Reaper) it’s time to think how is this “balanced”.
Try and look at some stats, before you actually call him “overbuffed”, he recieved 0 buffs to make him meta, they QOL changed his ult and Hanzo got gutted and Double shield finally died.
He is the worst winning meta hero and the 11th lowest winrate hero in GM, worse in all other ranks.
If you exclude heroes with under 1% (most of them under 0.50% playrate), then he is the 4th lowest winrate “Played hero” in GM, only outdone by Roadhog, Wrecking ball and at the very bottom Hanzo.
So no he is in fact not at all over buffed, he is the exact opposite.
Roadhog and wrecking ball suffers from Reinhardt having a 15% playrate in GM and 55% winrate, Reinhardt got overbuffed insanely hard, with increased CC immunity and increased shield walking speed.

Check Overbuff. His pickrate is actually on 1-6 places on all ranks (except bronze) on the last 6 months, 3 months, month and last week. How is this not meta? What are you talking about?

Yes which isn´t at all relevant, it just means he is popular “last 6 months”, that is 3-4 months, when Hanzo was the meta as well btw, which means he was popular before this Meta as well, which he always has been.
It is, see the several places i mention he is META, but that does not make him overpowered or overbuffed, a high pickrate is not an issue as long as you aren´t also dominatingly winning more games as well.
I think you need to read the sentences that people make.

flash + fan isn’t even all that good against the majority of the heroes. flash + double headshot is better. He could lose fan the hammer and probably not lose that much effectiveness. If he lost flash he’s just a worse ashe with no abilitites.

No joke, I bet if the rocket buff goes through soldier might replace mccree and we’ll see “Soldier is unbearable” threads.
At least the rocket needs to be somewhat aimed

It is if you just run at him point blank alone without any support, shield, peels, etc.
If no one on your team is peeling or helping(a boop can ruin a McCree’s chance to double tap or fth you) then don’t run up to point blank range on a McCree to avoid that. Play a longer range hero.
If you have a Dva backing you up you can just delete a McCree and there’s nothing he can do about it unless his team backs him up too. Or a shield, or a zarya bubble, or sleep, or shield bash, or rocket mace, or lucio boop. There’s a ton of things that can save you from flash + kill at point blank. But yeh, McCree is incredibly strong at a super close fight if there’s no one backing you up.

Everyone is a mccree main so lets deal with it hes actually very fun to play as so i suggest to do the same
I was just pointing out that FFA is getting annoying now with all the McCrees. He was more easily punishable before but the fire rate buff broke the mode.
IMO he’s the worst hero to fight against. Five of them in one game is pure hell. I’m just hoping for a nerf in general now to make the mode actually fun again.

there is a common bug where people don’t hear his footsteps.
And look what got buffed. not his gun, but his ult, which is just now useable.
Why Rein is the top tank. All of the other tanks got dumpstered, literally leaving Rein as the ONLY tank.
Also, Genji is still played often, and he still isnt overpowered. people just love to play him.
To be fair, I saw more people who said that him getting 250 HP would make him “overpowered” & he didn’t need the survivability buff despite getting the fire rate nerf.
That said, there is a community of McCree-Mains on the forums who insist that his primary-fire isn’t overtuned (I’ve hated that buff since day one) and are thoroughly convinced that him having this much damage potential is a good thing.
As for the complaints to Fan the Hammer & Flash Bang, what would people want for him as a replacement? McCree’s primary fire is the only consistent part of his kit that contributes to his function as a DPS.

His character design is awful then considering that his poor survivability is what hindered him in the first place.
A ranged hero that’s dying too often to be a threat at range is a nonfunctional hero.
You think people in GM play a character because it’s popular and not by their utility? Lol

It’s funny how Cree mains say he is not op when Ashe is literally nowhere to be found because she is extremely overshadowed by Cree and buffing her will contribute to powercreep, I do 4k sr scrims and he is literally in every team composition because of how strong of a pic he is, and yes, in GM, pickrates define the power of a character, that’s why it’s the stats everyone looks and not plat stats
