Matchmaking worse than before

I had 5 games in a row where my whole team had negative k/d except me. Got rolled every single time. How is this supposed to be similar MMR???

Ok, the matchmaker ISN’T broken. The issue is that at every skill level everyone understands different parts of the game differently. Bastion explains this perfectly.

Let’s say you have 2 rein players. One is super aggressive and the other is really passive.

One rein doesn’t understand the best way to beat him is to just bait out his current form before taking space. The other does.

The Rein that doesn’t understand this will usually lose to bastion. The that Reins does understand this will usually win against bastion.

Now take these same 2 reins and put them against Hanzo/ana where you want to be fairly aggressive to give your dps space. Now the passive rein will get destroyed and the aggressive rein will win.

Because both of these reins perform vastly different in these 2 cases, they have a 50% win rate.

The beauty of OW is no 2 games are alike and because of inherent knowledge gaps you will run into some games where one or more players don’t know how to solve a particular problem and will lose because of it. Or do know and will win because of it. That’s usually why you have a meta at higher ranks - players have come up with a puzzle that nobody has found a clear solution to.

Unless of course you’re in bronze-silvee and the mechanics are just so bad none of that matters. I feel bad saying it, but it’s true. You can literally just mechanically bludgeon your way to gold.

They will repair it but in a parallel universe where Blizzard is still that of the 90s.

Since the start of season 8 I have observed a gigantic drop in the quality of my matches which have once again become catastrophic to an unbearable level, I thought it was only for me but it seems that it concerns everyone.

And my only match won was against a team worse than the easy level bots, which means I was bored like never before.

TL;DR : return of the garbage matches

LOL you have described 1 player diff from 5
I was pointing out 4 player diff from 5
 Where is the average???
Even when I solo picked both enemy healers, my team could do nothing
Clearly not in the same MMR, stop claiming this hidden factor that clearly is broken.

I’m not saying bad luck doesn’t happen (This happens at GM levels btw - just watch a stream)

But one bad game hardly defines the matchmaker or somehow is a clear indicator of the skill level of a team. I’ve seen plenty of people have a 3-12 game and the go on 33-3 rampages at a game 2 tiers higher 3 games later.

One bad game doesn’t mean the matchmaker is broken, it means it pulled a team of 5 people who were totally stumped by one particular team.

about that damn garbage mechanics.
this kind of garbage matchmaking will always trap people in the metal ranks who fortunately enough know the map really well, but failed to gain any advantages due to 4 of his/her teammates are so braindead that they don’t know that maps do comes with many lanes to get to the objectives.
it’s not even an excuse, blizztard should’ve been able to “read” those antics instead of creating a dumb algorithm that averaging every player in metal ranks, thus creating a mindless matchmaking who matches a good metal rank with a dumb one, again and again, repeatedly, and trap those good players.
The key is consistency, if blizztard demanding a consistent skill to level up, then blizztard should’ve provided a consistent matchmaking too.

Yea, you get a dps gettin 1 or 0 kills per rnd its a GG. Its over in 5v5
6v6 maybe you could carrry the newbs better, but not in 5v5.
5v5 ruff on newbs

Hate to say but vastly different for me. Won a vastly undercard and my team avg shifted two ranks higher indicating I climbed almost a rank. I was at 4-2. Matches meanwhile feel somewhat even.

Meanwhile the hitboxes are very generous!

Also I think they did something with endorsements. I’m at my personal best of level 4, and I’m seeing insanely more amount of 5s.

Very short but somewhat close game: ZTZBDD - I even did a blunder in the beginning but
well check it out, only 1 point for both sides but still very close.

If everyone only plays till 1 roll and goes and plays something else the devs will start asking themselves why
 i hope.

but keep playing after 1 lost close match

Its still pretty funny how bad it is. Well see if the if the rework next season fixes anything.

Love how a lot of people complain about 5-10 roll or get rolled games in a row, but every time some smart know it all says it’s just bad luck or a skill issue.

Knowing the current Blizzard, it’s better not to hope for anything and be pleasantly surprised, than to have hope and be disappointed, which is probably what will happen.

It is early part of the season where a lot of infrequent players are playing . Some of them aren’t at the right rank and hence you get more steam rolls than usual.

Plus patch changes make a difference. Sombra buff has me at an 81% win rate after 15 games this season. Buff definitely helped her.

Thanks for the info, I’m going to wait a few days or weeks before doing ranked again, when everything has stabilized.
