This ranking system has been broken since the start. there is a reason why no other fps games has a matchmaker like this. to not do a full hard reset on a season is ridiculous. soft resets means nothing, so why even call it a reset.
i have tested this since my main acc decayed to bronze 5 at the start of OW2, i went on a 15-20 win streak and didnt rank out of bronze with that. it has taken so ridiculous many games to get back up to gold, and now its just stop. 9/10 games are either with a leaver, thrower of clearly people that dont know what is going on.
did my placements in sup and straight to diamond 3, since i had āfreshā placements there.
did a test in previous seasons, dps rank wont move on main acc. tried on to fresh alt accs and both times i rank high diamond and no issue climbing to masters after that with those. go back to my main acc and continue to get legit bronze players thrown into the lobby, (yes they even say so themselves). and spare me with the āget guddā im not claiming i am anything special but i am decent enough at this game, i outfrag the lobby, and i dont know how many smurfing accusations i have gotten until now after iāve tried to get my main acc dps out from gold, but it is impossible to carry an entire team game after game if you are not top500 or atleast high GM.
and the span of the ranks you get in this game, had plenty of times where silvers are placed into diamond lobbies, like how?!
so again, having an competitive shooter with a rank system and seasons, and between season dont do a reset is crazy! you have āplacementsā that doesnt do anything besides letting you ācontinueā from where you left off.
TLDR; main acc has so much decay from inactivity that it cant get out of gold on dps, even tho i was master in OW1. tried multiple alt accās and no problem with fresh placements to rank to diamond then climb back up to masters. and people still argue that there is nothing wrong with this terrible system. okay thenā¦
i keep seeing ppl saying this season after season yet nothing changes or gets worse lol, stop they arenāt going to address it because the queue times will suffer and canāt have that with the F2P zero attention ipad kids, else they leave with their mommyās credit card back to fortnite
again guys hate to be on the other side of itā¦ I got 27 games with my main and already at 71% win rate. Next one up is 63%ā¦ I enjoy winning dont get me wrong, but I have a feeling a huge crash is about to happen.
It isnāt, if it was the game would not be able to push people toward a 50/50 win rate, it would have to pair you against players. Itās garbage that a player can be top 500 Gm or Masters in one role and play in a metal lobby on another. Absolute joke, if its to much to ask to play against people of similar level then time to move on I think.
Wrong, you poke your head into all of these discussions to say the same garbage. Clearly someone who smurfs and benefits from the current system. It actively pushes players toward a 50/50 win rate, couldnāt do that simply matching numbers as you put it.

It doesnāt. Perfect match making (which is unrealistic obviously) will give you a 50/50 chance. It is what they aim for. 50/50 chance. Key word being chance. After that it is up to you.
Incorrect, the devs even posted back in OW1 era, the matchmaker will many times match you with players where you are estimated as low as a 20% chance to win the match and you are expected to carry to continue to gain. If you donāt, it would readjust your MMR.
Lets say there are 100 gold players that get dumped into Bronze. They play well, and the matchmaker wants to give you a 50-50 win rate. So as you do better, who are going to be matched against more and more often? These same gold players. Who are they are going to get matched with? Themselves, smurfs, or bronze players that are doing amazing. What happens? Almost nothing, the gold players wonāt move, as they continually get matched against each other or other players on great streaks or other smurfs, no one moves, anywhere. Which is the entire reason of the age old (season whatever OW1, 3?, 5?) buy new account, profit.
Basic math shows you, if the system is trying for a 50-50, while in theory this seems good, it is horribly and incredibly flawed, by just attempting this is such a train wreck. Now, the bonus, for Blizzard, is that this does indeed create a toxic, but incredibly addictive game matching.
Add in throwers/streamers/trolls/smurfs/whatever and things truly go off the rails. And it takes far, far fewer of these than you think to destroy, literally, thousands of games very easily.
i feel like if i carry a few games in a row i will soon enough be queued with the patch of green potatoes that is the very worst of the communities players. Will be playing with zen and baptiste healers with less heals then me on hog and more dmg then my braindead dps.
yep, those kind of things happen more fequently, funnily enough thereās crapload of users who defending that those kind of things didnāt happen at all.
no wonder OW2 team throwing matchmaking into the hands of interns, cause they feel no pressure at all to deliver an improved matchmaking accuracy & consistency.
That same 65% - 79% win rate account is now losing but to horrible horrible stompsā¦ like there are legit more trolls and people not wanting to switch off after obvious counters, vs incredibly good opponents - like hacker level.
Meanwhile the good shots I was taking for granted, like āgetting HS but not aiming anyoneā have all been removedā¦
But it doesnt stop thereā¦ After a couple losses I go to a fresh accountā¦ still losing! Losing across 3 accounts, all different ranksā¦ Some low, some high, but I guess someone is winningā¦
I know theyāre adding a new rank, and this maybe the rank re-distribution the devs were talking about.
