Matchmaker Code Cracked

With everyone’s discussion on how the Matchmaker works,

I think I’ve cracked the code.

From playing countless games in high elo, low elo, etc. I’ve formulated a hypothesis on what is happening in not only Competitive, but Quick Play too.

The Matchmaker will place you based on ONE role’s SR.

Let’s say you’re masters support, but you get in a low GM game on DPS. Your DPS is Plat, so you shouldn’t be here, but the matchmaker is trying to pair you off your other role’s SR.

Trying to match various SR for each role = LONG queue times
Trying to match based off of your highest/one role= Quick queue times

As an example, I placed GM on support, but on my Plat tank I was placed with GM 1’s.
Either the matchmaker thinks my MMR is higher than I think it is, or it’s trying to find faster games.

From what we understand it pairs you on your MMR, Not sr.

And that will go up and down a lot faster then your medal ranks.

Like as the good old saying goes, ranks don’t matter. Because they’re not representative of the whole story.

Be it that there isn’t a lot of players up in GM at the moment so it will pull lower at times down just so match making doesn’t get to long.

Which can grab one of those players that outgrew their medals. if their in that diamond rank area sort of a deal.
