I do think people sort of misunderstood “die on point” to be fair. I was definitley one of those people who called it out, but it wasn’t a call for you to actually go in and die. It meant that if you were going to die, try and get within rez range. Who would willingly give ult charge to the enemy when you don’t need to?
I also don’t think valk is useless. Quite the opposite. It’s very useful. But I can’t say it’s terribly exciting for me, in the way nano boost isn’t terribly exciting either.
Not like it doesn’t matter but from what I see from Mercy streamers/forums etc they are minority. And most of them have joined overwatch after the rework, meaning they really haven’t expiriecnced other mercy versions. In some cases valk may be fun ye, I love just spamming GA while not having to think about anything else because I have AoE healing, but that’s also what makes her boring to me
Valk doesn’t promote the use of the entire kit. Why would you even pull your gun when you can damage boost your whole team at once? The latter is far more effective except in a few cases (i.e. a Pharah flying which your DPS struggle to hit or a Widow on high ground).
I’m not calling the entire group a troll. I’m calling you a troll. Because almost every single response you’ve ever had towards me, on either of your accounts, has been hostile and non-constructive, neither of which are acceptable on the forums. In addition to this, most of your responses have been extraneous and falling under the basic definition of a troll, both of which are not acceptable or allowed on the forums via the Code of Conduct.
You’re not contributing anything to discussion when you just capitalize on mistakes or things you believe to be mistakes. Here’s a few things you’ve said.
The spread of misinformation by you is what really shocks me to be honest. Not only are you seemingly a troll, but you’re just trying to bring down others with false information and, dare I say it, “fake news”.
I’m not going to respond if your comments continue like this, because frankly, it’s not worth my or anyone else’s time to attempt discussion.
Give Junkrat a suicide belt as an ultimate instead of the riptire! And dont come with “thats a terrorists thing” because only one of 1000 terrorists does that. Junkrat is a suicidal explosion lover. Imagine Junkrat minejumping into enemy team and explode leaving him 3 or 5 secconds stunned afterwards xD
Except give it the “pop up” effect his concussion mine has, except only on him. Increase the AOE and you’ve got an ultimate that Puts junk in a great position for himself.
Soooo care to elaborate how Valk is a fun and engaging ultimate? I mean I can’t understand how someone can say this is a fun and engaging ult when it literally does everything for you. There’s absolutely no need to prioritize any targets, the chain beams do it for you. There’s no decision making at all and I’m really curious as to what you’d come up with.
I’m not saying that you’re ignorant or can’t have an opinion but what you’re saying is basically hot air. You say we’re doing it wrong, then tell us how to use Valk right? Tell us what’s so fun and clever about an ult that’s a glorified spectator mode. I’m waiting.
In Heroes of the Storm Junkrat’s other ult is kinda like that?
It’s called Rocket Ride. Mechanics wise it works like Meteor Strike… but the dude is literally riding a live rocket and when it lands it sets off his death passive and sends him back to spawn (with a reduced “death timer”) and everything.
You literally turn into super man. You have the ability to fly, no clip on your weapon, the ability to heal the entire team at double the range and you have unstoppable regeneration. You can 1v1 most enemies with little to no risk if you can aim. You basically become extremely powerful for the duration of the ultimate and all players care to think about is “Whoopty do I can heal from double the range”
It amazes me how little players are actually using in this ability. It’s like they don’t care about the rest or something.
It doesn’t do everything for you. If you pressed Q, the only thing that would happen if you didn’t do anything else is massive self heals. Other than that, you still have to interact with it. You still have to fly around and heal allies. You are the epitome of a guardian angel. How is that not amazing?
The chain beams have such a low range from target to target that you actively need to aim somewhat properly.
With the exception that the only situation where going Battle Mercy in Valk is when your team is perfectly safe and you just want to kill that Widow or Pharah in the sky that no one else can kill. That’s it. There’s literally no other reason to pull out the pistol during Valk, unless you’re trolling. You don’t turn into superman. You turn into a big glowing target, just waiting for that Attack Visor or Deadeye that was reserved just for you. So no, you don’t become extremely powerful. Maybe on paper but not in reality. Using your pistol while your team is taking damage is literally throwing the game because you’re not doing your job.
Yes it does do everything for you. You press Q and continue to hold down either LMB or RMB. Nothing changed. You don’t have to fly around because the beams are connected. A Mercy uses Valk when she knows the team is pushing in together so there’s no need to even move, except maybe behind a wall or behind your team. That’s literally it.
Never heard anyone yell at someone for not dying unless they stalled after Mercy told them to die because I have reset which was short hand for “die now or you’re staggering you dumb idiot”
You… do realize that the cardinal rule of playing Mercy is DO NOT DIE! or at least was that? Why are you surprised that people use Valkyrie in a way that makes her nearly impossible to kill but is incredibly boring? Old habits die hard.
I mean seriously… Mercy’s damage done bell curve on overbuff isn’t even a bell curve. It’s just the right side of the bell curve… meaning yeah most Mercy players never whip out her blaster.
Valkyrie can have its moments but all of them require you to do things that on the surface look incredibly dumb.
Those were all changed because they were overpowered and were excluding other heroes from viability, not because they were “unfun”.
Using “unfun to play against” as a reason to change something that is balanced is creating a universal reason to change anything and everything at a whim. Why?
The enemy isn’t fun to play against. Nerf/rework the enemy.
If “unfun to play against” is enough reason to remove Resurrect as an ultimate, what reason is there for ultimates like Rocket Barrage, Dragonblade, Transcendence, Tactical Visor, Graviton Surge, etc to stay? They are also pretty darn “unfun to play against” when they wipe your team or otherwise mess with your plans.
Copy/paste incoming.
Shall we dive into a bit of player perspective philosophy?
Unless the hero is a balance concern, Player 2’s perception of Player 1’s character isn’t relevant. It is given that Player 2’s perception of Player 1’s character is likely negative when playing against Player 1. On the other hand, Player 1’s perception of Player 1’s character is not a given in any videogame. For the videogame to be successful, Player 1’s perception of their own character, or how it feels to play their own character, needs to be positive. If that perception is negative, players will stop playing. As a result, Player 1’s experience with Player 1’s character is infinitely more important than Player 2’s perception of Player 1’s character.
In short, a player needs to feel empowered by their own actions. The player does not need to feel empowered, and in a PvP game, should not and will not feel empowered, by the actions of their opponents.
Player 1’s experience with Player 1’s character was breached and disregarded when Blizzard tried to make Player 2’s perception of Player 1’s hero positive… which they also failed to do. By attempting to change that which neither needed to be changed nor could be changed, the balance team tampered with something that should never be altered.
It’s not about old habits. That’s just the most effective way to use Valkyrie. Boosting 5 teammates for 30% additional damage each is just more effective in the vast majority of cases than using your mediocre gun yourself, and much safer too obviously. And you can switch to healing right way when necessary, which is crucial often.
