Here are 10 reasons why I believe that Mass Ressurect is Returning to Overwatch. Get your popcorn, this will be a long one. Ressurect was changed based on an opinion of it being “unfun to play against” instead of actual statistics and data. “Hide and Res” was also an argument used to push the rework - when in reality, Mercy still needs to hide in order to res even today. Towards the “final push” of the game mode, you’ve seen it happen. They introduce Witch Mercy, she says “My Heroes Never Die!” and everyone previously fought is resurrected, in it’s instant 3-4 man glory.

I had a hunch that it was due to it being easier than trying to update the game with reworked heroes… But then I’ve realized.

The Reworked Symmetra is in this game mode now.
Torb’s new Ult is playable in the mode.
Various other heroes are re-introduced that weren’t there previously.
Even Hanzo has his rapid-fire arrow ability.

This had me wondering… They obviously updated everyone else in the game mode, was there a particular reason why Mercy doesn’t use Valkyrie and instead uses her classic Mass Rez instead? I would assume that making her fly around with chain healing would be a bit more accurate to show at this point than her bringing everyone back, and from the looks of it, this seemed to be an intentional change.

Maybe the devs want to see how Torb’s ult would function against Mass res and saw that it worked well enough to introduce them both in a game mode?

I’m not sure. Outside of the speculation, I’m glad that Valk wasn’t used in the game mode personally, but I still wonder why they decided to keep it in instead of try to give us the current rework Mercy like all the other AI heroes. From what I’ve seen, this is the only version of Mercy in the game that still has Mass Res if I recall.

Do you think they’ll change this in the future to Valkyrie Mercy in the next Junkenstein’s event? If so, how do you think it will function? Or are you glad to see it make a comeback in a game mode?
