Which pile of video games do you want me to start with?
I loved X-Men: Legends, but have you played X2: Wolverines Revenge? No you havent, cause it was garbage. How about Ghost Rider? … Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects? I wish I was making that one up. Every single Hulk game ever made. Like, literally all of them. Would you like me to go on?
Marvel vs Capcom was great, but respectfully, that had so much more to do with Capcom than Marvel. No contest. It was all developed by Capcom, and Marvel just took their slice. At least the original (and first two sequels…? Fuzzy there) was.
I mean, I did say 9 out of 10. Scale it up a tad. You can name 10 good ones and I’ll rattle off 90 terrible ones. Not an exaggeration. Doesnt exactly inspire faith.
Irony aside, I feel like there’s a bit of excessive pressure around Rivals to compare it to Overwatch. from what I’ve seen, the gameplay bases are quite different… with the simple privilege having less hero (and therefore features) to manage + the strength of Marvel’s branding itself.
What is your basis for assuming more people use Steam than BNet because the last time we saw someone even attempt to do an experiment they came up with 8% and their metric was a flawed metric that was going to overrepresent how many people were using Steam.
Let me reiterate that. They were using a methodology that would give the highest possible number of Steam players relative to the rest of the playerbase and they still did not reach 10%.
Also I like how you tried to shift the argument and used the word “another” when I completely showed your first example was nonsense. You should open that sentence more honestly with “here is another example of me making up a quote and falsely attributing it to you and then arguing against that quote with incorrect numbers”. That is a more honest representation of what you are doing. Relatedly though even if your 256k number is right that is still lower than what the current estimate for OW is right now (though again these are numbers with no reason to assume they are correct as both your sources and mine are 3rd party sources with no direct ability to confirm the data).
This hero jumps so they must be a copy of junkrat. This hero flies so it’s a Pharah copy. This hero charges so it must be a Mauga copy. This hero has a big melee weapon so it must be a Rein copy…
By this type there are many overlapping and even close to identical character archetypes across 1000’s of games.
Heck pharah is basically just a Jet trooper from the OG battlefront.
i heavily doubt that.
I would gladly play a overwatch competition shooter but they basically didn’t copy anything that makes ow so good. just my opinion.
you do realize some of these marvel characters existed and did these things decades before the game overwatch was salvaged from was even a thought?
like the idea that a flying character with beams was marvel copying when Iron-man is quite literally one of the most iconic super heros on the planet is straight up ignorant.
Yall cant be so delusional as to think Blizzard was the first person to think of any of these concepts.
nope…im right there with ya. like i said, it may play very well, maybe even better than OW…i was just pointing out the similarities…not knocking the game itself.
Sure, im not suggesting that any one character that does “a thing” is a copy of another game, but if you put them all together, the similarities are pretty strong.
Its that you have a TANK who does the charge and jump, just like Mauga a TANK has a run and jump
it’s that you have a flying IronMan who does a beam attack, just like you have a flying Echo that does a beam attack.
it’s that you have a girl on skates on skates, who can wield sound to her advantage…just like you have lucio, on skates, who wields sound to his advantage.
I mean, sure, you can say they probably overlap in certain aspects, but when you take the character design, and combine it with the map similarities, there are some pretty strong coincidences.
Maybe it’s reaching? i dont know. honestly i dont care, i was just pointing out the similarities between the games, not bashing it for copying, which i think some of you are assuming.
