i dont know man but i cant belive took almost 20 years since team fortress 2 to make an actual HEROOOOOO shooter , gotham impostors was the closest but you didnt play with a hero but random npc dressed as batman
Would anyone will be playing overwatch 2 if wasnt for the big pusch overwatch 1 had? if was a new ip anybody would like it? i dont think so, seeing how the game have no story mode after promising it for years and the balance sucks
No it wouldn’t, but that’s because the character appeal came second, since they already had huge names to work with.
The game might’ve been completely different had they been working on it with the intent to make interesting characters from scratch. I still think it’s pretty fun gameplay wise, so who knows how it would’ve turned out.
You can blame it on whatever you want but MR has something that OW doesn’t and hasn’t had in a long time: devs that have a clear direction for the game that also care about making sure its actually fun to play and won’t stubbornly fight the playerbase on every decision.
Yeah, that’s patently not true about the Overwatch developers. In fact they probably listen to the wrong parts of the community to their detriment. Let’s see if you’re going to track back from that take and not dig your heels in. I can’t imagine the odds are likely as you’d probably not have posted what you did in the first place.

Marvel’s core gameplay mechanics are inferior to OW imo.
But they pretty much nailed everything else, especially for a first try (minus the monetization which is cancer in both games).
The characters and the universe are attractive. The hero kits are overloaded and make you feel like a super-hero.
All this stuff appeal to the masses.
But at the end of the day, this can only bring the game so far.
Because the core gameplay is the weak point, MR has a stronger incentive to constantly drop new meaningful content besides the planned heroes, maps and skins.
Various types of new game modes are needed.
And guess what, a PvE would help MR slam dunk OW and Blizzard.
I can never get over the massive amount of hype the game had upon the reveal trailer, only for it all to completely tumble and fumble to the ground with the gameplay reveal.
Like it’s not a bad game in any sense, but it’s a niche type of game only a certain few would enjoy.
That’s true. A lot of people are mad about the bad games made for Marvel. I think they’d look at MR critically. The game is good, imo. I like OW and MR.
They didnt reup their contract with netease the ones who basicly ran overwatch in china and this was in development well before that contract dispute happend
I know next to nothing about most of the characters. I tried the game and it felt clunky and clumsy.
I hated the 3rd person wiew as it covers up too much of my screen with the hero unless i’m using specific abilities. I especially hated it when i played someone i needed to actually aim with.
All in all. No. I think the ip itself lends a lot to the popularity.
Good games? Mmos? I personally hate mmos, but ow got my interest because it was a quirky 1st person shooter esque thing. I knew nothing else about blizzard at the time than hearsay about wow.
No coasting for me.
I got drawn in by the beautiful story cinematics and fun gameplay.
