Marvel Rival doesn't scratch the OW itch?

No, sorry but this is just a delusion by now.

Blizz doesnt want OW to improve because for it to improve they would need to change course and they never will admit they have messed up.

The mistakes I am talking about are not the mistakes you are pointing out. Its in the future.

Mahvel Rivals definitely replaced Overwatch for me. With relative ease.

It might be because eight years later only one character is any fun and they intend to make him a pansy for 6v6 to cater to DPS players… But, well, it is what it is?

It’s not supposed to scratch the itch. That’s the good things. They are different games that share similarities.

It scratches my comic book fan itch. But when I want to do Ow stuff I go to Ow.

For me it is a true alternative to ow when I want a different multiplayer

I hardly see any Namors. My nephew swears by him, but also says that Namor always gets dismissed as an F tier by everyone else. How are you doing with the guy?

I generally play support in Rivals so I haven’t played Namor myself, just backed up my nephew.

Namor is amazing and I serve my king. He is busted beyond comprehension. The kids have no idea what they are talking about. Namor is also a great answer to Peni (who has the highest winrate at the moment).

They always underestimate the creatures of the deep. It will be their last mistake.

My nephew was kinda killing it in QP with him but I didn’t know whether it was Nemo and the Dory squad who deserved the credit, or just QP matchmaker doing its thing.

All I am saiyan is that once the enemy realizes what true royalty is, they also swap to Namor. That being said, it’s sort of dumb to mirror a master of the ocean without understanding why we serve kukulkan.

If you pick Namor because Monstro aim for you, you are going to be thrown overboard by a superior life form.

In all seriousness, he is amazing just for shutting down several difficult to deal with heroes on your own. Spiderman, Black Panther, and Iron Fist usually need a bit of focus fire as their duel potential is sky high. But with your loyal servants of the depths, it’s basically a three versus one and you have an immortality that can disrupt their combos or whatever.

I always feel alone when I play someone else. No tanks. No supports. Just me. Alone. However, with my king that I protect, I am never alone.

Namor is great but he is missing some QoLs and some lesser buffs.

He is really strong at punishing mobile divers while also potentially melting tanks with two frenzied turrets. He only needs a bit more range/speed on deploying the octo-turrets and to be able to control his the direction of his bubble’s dash. Maybe some self healing or overhealth on it too.

Also dont let anyone tell you much about the game other than the very extremes. Namor has gone from a D tier to solid A in the time it took people to ban Helaeye.

Also the MCU-inspired Namor skin is very hot so… teehehehe.

It doesn’t scratch the itch but OW2 doesn’t scratch the itch, that’s the problem.
Rivals feels closer to OW1 than OW2 so even though it doesn’t scratch it, it’s the closest we have to the OW alot of us fell in love with.

Are you alone? No. I’ve heard others say this. Are you in the minority? I think probably yes. Marvel Rivals undoubtedly feels a lot like Overwatch. It’s essentially the same game Overwatch used to be early on except 3rd person.

Does that mean all Overwatch players are going to jump ship? If course not. MR even though for a lot of people feels like Overwatch, there’s still differences.

  1. It’s 6v6
  2. It’s Open Queue
  3. It’s 3rd person
  4. There’s more melee heroes
  5. There’s fewer immortality abilities
  6. The client isn’t optimized well so you will get fewer frames per second than Overwatch.
  7. And it’s Marvel heroes which will appeal to some and turn off others.
  8. And it doesn’t have your Overwatch main that you’ve invested time into and probably have a bunch of skins for.

It really is a very solid alternative to Overwatch, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. Also playing it doesn’t mean that you can’t still play Overwatch. I personally play both because I enjoy both.

Marvel Rivals is much closer to Overwatch than Paladins. Paladins was never really an Overwatch competitor like MR is. And frankly, Paladins is a dead game. Between MR and Deadlock, Paladins is not going to survive. The “Overwatch killers” won’t kill Overwatch but they will kill Paladins.

It honestly just makes me want to play OW.

I do think it’s fun, but after three or four matches, I’m ready to go back to the more polished experience.

Even OW2 doesn’t scratch the itch of OWC and OW1 :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I am the opposite. I find myself slipping back into my toxic ways in Overwatch because the game just feels so bad compared to Mahvel. It’s no wonder my unresolved anger issues were influencing my behavior in Overwatch. Not that it is an excuse. I understand I need to do better. But it is just hilarious how I had to put so much effort into it for Overwatch, but Mahvel is organically fun and I do not need to “check myself” to make sure I am not reporting someone for being something I cannot repeat here.

It was a bit eye opening because someone did the same exact thing in Mahvel and I was, “wow, what’s their problem?” Until I remembered earlier I false reported some beta Reinhardt with a description that would get me suspended if reports actually mattered.

:muscle:

I am just glad this option exists. If I can barely tolerate THREE freaking games of Overwatch without relapsing, that’s definitely a problem. And it does make me a bit pissy initially in Mahvel until playing an actually good game calms me down. That’s sad.

i think MR with Overwatch has the same kind of perceptual difference that we can see if we compare League of Legends and SMITE: basically the same kind of rules but with a different feeling on how you move on the field

SMITE and LoL are both MOBAs, but one of the two behaves optimally in the action around the character, and the other bases a lot of its gameplay on the tactical knowledge of the entire map. in the same way we can see that Rivals plays a lot in the third-person fight (and this greatly facilitates the implementation of melee heroes or who have to understand if they can position themselves on still stable platforms before a collapse), while overwatch gives absolute priority to the aim of your weapon (fps, precisely). but paradoxically we can say that overwatch presents light hybrid TPS moments (rein with shield raised, wrecking ball rolling, etc.) as well as MR in some rare special occasions has to switch to FPS with black widow in scope mode.

it’s a really important difference for the perception of the gameplay, which however does not exclude the comparison between the two games from the point of view of marketing and balance. the same paradox is not created with fps games like apex (more battle royale) or valorant (more counter strike): in a different way, both team games give complementary offers. and it’s one of the reasons why I don’t believe at all that overwatch can suddenly fail. but it does not exclude that overwatch must be up to the organizational comparison, ignored for too long due to the continuous paranoia on the rules that should balance the game and its modes. rivals has all the time and the right to make mistakes and try again… but overwatch does not, and must now demonstrate that there is much more than the second thoughts that have formed.

It did for me. OW2 hasnt been fun since season 3. Marvel Rivals I found fun right away. Excellent graphics, good matchmaking that works, better system for reporting, better que times, faster time dealt with cheaters. Yeah the list is long. OW2 is total garbage

Only thing I like about it is Marvel and destroyable environment. But it being Marvel is at the same time a disadvantage cos my favourite heroes in the MCU are Iron Man and Black Panther but I don’t feel like playing them cos I’m so much better at Hawkeye as a Hanzo main in OW. But Hawkeye happens to be my least favourite Avenger until he reaches that Ronin phase that makes him a slight bit cooler.

well say that to the thousands of players not playing overwatch 2 which player count has going down very low in the last months

It stole all of the map graphics and abilities of OW, but to me MR feels slow and clunky compared to OW. The movement isn’t smooth. Peri Parker is a D’Va rip off, and who shooting icons are the same. I prefer OW, and will only play MR when my BF is on and wants to play. MR just doesn’t have a good feel to me at all. It’s more of an arcade game to me.

They are 2 surprisingly different games.

Which should be a credit to Netease, they’ve made a game that feels completely different whilst having almost nothing original or unique.

But I am with you. MR is a solid game, I can see why people love it. Just does absolutely nothing for me, even as a huge Marvel fan.
