well is a rumor, not worth to mention it right now, without pve marvel rivals is killing overwatch, a pve would be the final nail
Because the abilities in Marvel Rivals don’t encourage team play or team combos the way Overwatch abilities do.
Like if I were designing Spider-Man with Overwatch’s philosophy, I would have made his ult be something like, he shoots webs in every direction and then pulls anyone in as he jumps up in the air, and the enemies slam into each other. The slam would do damage, but also encourage team follow up. But what does he actually do? He just shoots webs in every direction doing generic AOE damage. It’s an ult that encourages selfish solo play.
And Cap. America’s ult should have been him throwing his shield and it bounces off a bunch of enemies, stunning them.
grand theft auto v is a 11 years old game and have a lot more players, counter strike is a 24 years old game with almost same player count ow2 have right now, team fortress 2 is a 17 years old game with more players than ow2, the excuse is 9 years old game is lame, and isnt ow2 a new game, a sequel that changed so much even blizzard celebrtes the anniversary of it? is only 2 years old and is on the brick of death. the moment a true option came out everyone left ow to go play marvel rivals
based on what? of course the opinion of a streamers and you agreeing means nothing, why people would play ow2? blizzard reputation is on the bottom, not even the brand would make them play, ow2 launch state was terrible, people only played because they expected a true sequel
overwatch 2 doesnt have the strategy of overwatch , is a brain dead arcade shooter, run forward and shoot, the strategy is just heal the tank, even developers admit this, they want the player to have more individual impact, thats not how a team based game should be player, they keep saying ow is a team based shooter but thats a lie, is a tank based shooter, heal the tank and if you tank dies is over, 0 incentive to try anything
Exactly!
Its a very individualist design. Part of wht its fun, part of why its not as fun. Which is why OW2 will always be my favorite team-focused game.
Just like MR with just DPS/Healers, if the Tank dies in OW2, thers another Tank (in 6v6) or the DPS. Sometimes DPS play like Tanks (like Bastion or Venture for example) and so if Im a Support, I’ll Support them. In MR, its a similar idea except with a lot less strategist thinking involved since most the cool-downs are so short.
hey buddy, 6vs6 is not the main mode, not the ranked mode, dont compare ow1 6vs6 with marvel rivals, compare ow2 5vs5 which is crap and destroyed any strategy element, if the tank dies is over, you cant win 4vs5
6v6 is still live right now, so its very much part of OW. It might even be permanent in the future!
When I compare the games back to back, OW2 feels more heroic overall than MR. Pretty ironic Which partially explains why OW is harder to balance than MR.
might be but right now isnt and isnt not the main mode, so the comparisson doesnt makes sense, of course 6vs6 is better, is the first right step to save this game, there would need 1 million more to even scratch marvel rivals
what the hell does this even mean?
The comparison makes more sense if you play MR QP then 6v6 OW2 right afterwords.
And what I mean by OW2 feels more heroic is that each character feels more like a unique character. Like take Mr. Fantastic for example. Some pretty cool abilities, but a lot of them are quite similar to Hulk and Thor or even Captain America, especially his Ult. In OW2, theres less hero ability overlap, so when you play a specific hero, like Mercy or Reinhardt, you feel much more “heroic” in terms of unique abilities.
Then like Invisible Woman. Cool character, very easy on the eyes but overall, quite similar to Mantis (my current favorite character in MR) and Adam Warlock. Her Ult is unique but her kit feels more generic and thus less “heroic” in that sense.
so what if characters are different? the game plays the same, protect the tank, and the tank has no chance to do much because if he tries to do something risky and dies is game over
OW2 doesn’t scratch that MR itch. Game is so much more fun. I hope OW2 gets more fun and has less annoying heroes like Sombra, Havok, Widow, and Ball.
For me, the uniqueness of the heroes is what makes OW2 so great. I dont get the same level of excitement when I play MR since many of the heroes are just too similar to each other.
I like Rivals quite a bit. But I think OW is a better game overall and I prefer it. But sometimes I feel like playing Rivals instead, I enjoy both.
2016 Overwatch would have smoked Rivals almost as fast as it smoked Battleborn.
Rivals success is a symptom of Overwatch’s decay, not Rivals being a stronger game.
Battleborn was hot garbage and ran at 15 fps.
2016 OW1 was a mess. It was new and different but a mess. If you had current Rivals and 2016 OW1, Rivals prob tops it. Maybe the monetization would’ve tanked it in comparison then. It’s actually kind of interesting to think about.
But now I’d agree that Rivals’ success is in part due to the mishandling of OW2, without question.
If you truly believe that you must be looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses. OW1 is something you want only up until you get it, and once you get it you’ll find yourself back here demanding a return to something else.
Feel the same.
It has all the ingredients to be a great game… But seems to be lacking something for me. It feels cheap and soulless.
The list of bugs and issues MR has is looong too. The funniest being FPS being linked to ping. The higher your FPS, the higher the ping. That is if you ignore the repeated game crashing.
It will get there eventually. And make a shed ton of money on the way. But it isn’t for me.
It is indeed overhyped. It’s clearly flawed, but it’s new and fresh.
It’s also wild and crazy, and captures the super hero fantasy effectively, which pleases the casuals.
This is not unwarranted. Blizzard has done its best to alienate as many gamers as possible
This is true in my opinion.
I saw a small streamer which I watched for overwatch all the time. He had a Cheater on the enemy team and someone who played widow on his team. He reported the Cheater and his Widow (bcs that guy just picked this hero but switched bcs it didnt worked out.). Guess who got banned? Yes. The Guy who played Widow but switched to help the Team.
It’s a few days now and he never got a feedback for banning the cheater.
To be honest, i’m just so annoyed that everyone is praising rivals to heaven while this game has still several issues. It’s a good game. yes, but even a good game has problems and one of their biggest problems is the thing behind it. NetEase.
