Hi it’s Geoff here. We decided that sym is doing good as a niche hero so we need to make her more versatile in the game we have Decided that the best way to this is to add a 12 second cooldown to her main mobility tool. Lowering her damage is also a great way to make her more usable in more situations.
With these changes you are sure to see more symmetra On different maps
But seriously it looks like they just want to sweep sym under the rug at this point
Hi it’s ForumSymMain here. Some of us have decided current sym is not to our liking yet we seem very confused cause we always end up suggesting going back to the previous sym which was just as “bad” if not worse…so much so that the devs had to consider a rework to begin with…
Early sym 3.0 preformed much better than she currently is. But this is mainly a rant an how the entire idea of the rework from sym 2.0 to 3.0 was to make her versatile. And they took away that versatility with the introduction of infinite tp
I’m not really interested in a revert to her old self anymore it will just add way to much more confusion to the character. I just rather to not keep her main mobility tool as a gimmick. When before it was in a decent balanced state while remaining flexible
Symmetra isn’t a generalist but she is quite strong in her niche and on some maps like Hanamura and Lijiang , she’s used even In GM and in OWL. She’s extremely strong in what she specialises in , stop playing her in every map.
That’s the problem she use to be significantly stronger on every map without giving up the niche she currently has in gm. I just want that old versatility back. It was in a healthy spot keeping sym 3.0 good while not having her be over centralizing to the game.
Infinite tp reduced tp to much more of a gimmick yeah it still has its very powerful niche it just lost all the flexibility it once had
Yeah I’m a pretty wierd player I use to run sym 2.0 on most maps with success. But I can’t stand all the downtime infinite tp brought it just took away most of the fun I had with 3.0 because it took away my playstyle again
I Enjoyed learning how to find places on bad maps where sym could pull and advantage regardless of version. Flipping the disadvantage on my opponents is always a fun time
I care more that a character is fun and flows nicely rather than balance. I actually typically like to play weaker characters as long as their kit is Fun
2.0 had her flaws but she was the Sym I fell in love with. People like Baja don’t seem to understand that you can acknowledge a character has flaws but also still want them to be THEMSELVES rather than the weird hacked up versions of themselves they’ve been made into by all these craptastic changes.
Just make 2.0 actually good and you’d have an amazing hero.
No, that is my reply to the thread. Whether or not I get attention from it doesn’t matter to me, sorry that I hurt your feelings by saying I don’t want Symmetra players in my games. They’re not fun to play with or against in my opinion.
Sorry that I have an opinion that doesn’t align with yours!
I loved 2.0 because of the versatility in her kit. You could do a LOT if you knew how, and you were creative. And by versatility I mean more; where you set up, how you place turrets, are you up close and personal or more far away? some Sym’s like to be up in the mix and others stay back and surveil their web, you could do both with old 2.0 and it worked well.
The majority of what I played her on was Defense because realistically she was hard to make valuable on attack, but not impossible. Just harder than it kind of needed to be? It’s very much the inverse now, where Defense Sym is sort of trashtastic and attack Sym can be a bit overly aggressive. Anyway; with 2.0 you could really command or control a space well if you played around cover and kept your shield on cooldown. I can’t tell you how many points I saved single handedly after the enemy team fought through my team and showed up half dead to point. With my shield and noodle gun I could prioritize the weakest of the team members and make them panic, corral them into areas I knew I had turrets waiting for them and finish them off, and then get my ult up and pop a TP if I desperately needed my team back quickly.
A lot of people hated Sym because of her noodle gun, but it was only lethal in a small radius. I’d be fine taking the charge up gimmick off of it, I don’t like the unreliable damage numbers in addition to how easy it is as far as aim goes. I think if it was a flat but low number AND she had her shield, you could shield dance again and actually win duels with McCree’s / Ashe’s rather than just… well I’m dead now.
