Every time - its āda Poll nut gudā disclaimer⦠I mean if it were close I might question it. Its true its on a clear Support heavy forum but even on Reddit the polls for 2-2-2 showed about the same support for 2-2-2, around 60%, or a bit better than half. I predicted the poll results here even before I looked at them.
Itās notā¦which I explicitly stated in my post if you read past the first 2 sentences?
The game would then be inherently not competitive, which is a lot of what you got in the pre 2-2-2 world
So what was the point of your post?
You either have structure or donāt.
Splitting the player base is worse than what we have now.
You said this is the risk you run going unstructured. My argument is this has no place in any environment deemed ācompetitiveā.
Which is why itās been relegated to a specific QP queue. Iām reasonably certain Megadodoās next argument will be āthereās no FFA competitive experienceā. Perhaps something else will come out of the woodwork but this is all I can think of.
Splitting the competitive playerbase is indeed a very bad idea. Itās possible we are arguing the same point and I mistook what you were trying to get across.

Iāll give Blizzard credit for seeing the wisdom of not falling into this trap - it would make SR nigh meaningless, and also for not caving to the āmake QP openā crowd either. You have QPC, its there, use it if you must. The real play of PVP in OW is QP->Comp->Pro⦠with consistency (though the difference in bans needs to stop).
Alternatively, thereās a solution I may like: First come first served
It will be a unique queue (no role queue) where the dps slots will be taken by the first two that choose a dps hero. Intra-match role switch will also be possible. (if both press H in respawn zone obviously)
In one way I like this solution. Person with the fastest hardware wins Damage, which is generally the most mechanically demanding so it fits.
It wouldnāt work without A heavy leaver penalty though.
There is talk that hero bans will be made only for masters and above. I canāt stand the combo of both RQ and hero bans. RQ I can deal with as I can learn the heroās I need to deal with in the chosen categories but with banning heroās in that pool, it severely limits your ability to counter.
For example, I was getting double teamed by a Tracer and Genji as a support. I called out to my team and for help multiple times, no one peeled the entire game. The Moira, like most Moiraās was too busy DPSing on the front line and no DPS or Tanks bothered peeling either.
I had to switch off to Lucio but that wasnāt going to be enough help with healing especially even though I was getting double teamed, my team couldnāt handle a 5 vs 4. If I had the option of switching to Brig, I could have countered but since hero bans and RQ exists, I donāt have that option.
So unless I am able to choose from and full albeit limited cast of supports in this game properly, both RQ and hero bans existence makes the game some what unplayable do to lack of options.
In ranks where teams are for the most part stupid, which my understanding that is everything up to and possibly including diamond, hero pools are just stupid. RQ is fine but even that is limiting when you have brain dead teams.
At worst, they could loose 2-2-2 by allowing at max 3 dps (in exchange of 1 tank) so making comps like 1-3-2 (without the experiment buffs) would be possible (even though it may be risky for the quality of the match).
Ahh⦠And here I was thinking that the āāRoLe QuEuE WiLl KiLl ThE gAmEāā anecdote had already ended months ago⦠![]()

I actually do really agree with this⦠I just included that part in my reply because, at least for me personally, the fact that 2/2/2 role - queue supporters outnumber the haters in a ratio of 3:1 in even a place as historically aggressive for some reason against the system really says a lotā¦
Yeah, yeah, we know⦠Absolutely no evidence exists out there that proves 2/2/2 role - lock is an absolute āāfailureāā as you want so, so much to believe, so therefore all evidence that does exist (which proves the exact opposite, at it has already been said 1000 times already) is invalid according to your āālogicāāā¦
Sad⦠Just sad⦠![]()

Give it up hulk. This is borderline pathetic at this point ![]()
No they wonāt test it in experimental mode because you know. An experiment is to try something new.
They wonāt want the player base to be separated further.
They canāt realistically balance between the two modes either. Hence why QP Classic is an Arcade mode.
Role based SR is one of the best things to come out of this. Comp needs rules and structure to it otherwise āitās just QP with golden guns as a rewardā
Look at how 132 turned out. Now imagine Echo in the scenarioā¦
Games for tanks players would be royally screwed into being the team punching bag.
The only way ill be for no role Q (I love Role Q BTW as a DPS main), is if they limit role switching to only tanks and supports. Meaning we still have 2 (or 3) dps players max per team, but we cant have tanks and supports switching to dps whenever they want and leave the team with no supports or tanks. Tanks and supports can still switch roles withing their 2 roles.
That is the main thing i HATED with no role Q. Everyone jumping to dps once the first team fight was lost. Im glad that is gone.
Should be interesting to revisit this question now.
Currently at 17 for yes, 35 for no.
Looks like they are testing it, just not in the Experimental Card.
