📊 Make Role Queue optional?

not only would this fragment the playerbase more it also need the devs to do different balance changes for both modes.

Tanks and supports won’t queue in the Competitive Classic, so only dps will.
Result? 6 dps vs 6 dps

at present, large numbers of tank and/or support players - myself included - are playing as tanks and/or supports in qp classic

as such, I would expect more or less the same in competitive classic

I am a support main and if competitive classic were a thing, I’d never touch 222 competitive ever again; and I’d be playing competitive classic quite a bit

Just revert it before it kills the game for good.

Thing is people keep taking sides…which is better A or B? When enough people complained about A to warrant a B…but blizz went the completely unnecessary step of getting rid of A in the process…now we have the opposite…every single day we have people saying they’re not ok with A and they want B

I just want the option to choose what I want to do…I dont care if you guys like A or B…not does it matter which one I prefer…both options SHOULD be there

What differences, could you please elaborate?

I think I speak for a lot of support/tank mains when I say. Why the hell would I queue for unlocked queue when I could get a quaranteed 2 2 2 game?

Right, because unless the poll encompasses all of the OW community you regard it as invalid. Your bar for a valid poll is impossible to meet, so you can come to the forums crying this same old nonsense time and time again.

For the longest time it was achievements, what’s the problem now?

Well, you are lucky then. My experience in QPC is like 70% (I counted the bad games for one week) of my games are 4~5 DPS + something else. The only moment this changes is in the final moments when everyone finally understands 4~5 DPS won’t win the game and people start to pick Tanks/Supports or when someone starts screaming for heals :man_facepalming:. That’s my experience in QPC, and I play it everyday.

True, most of my Master games had at best 3 DPS and were otherwise 2-2-2. Do you want to know the problem with that? People still didn’t get to play what they liked, we just all flexed around to try to max our chances of winning, because we actually cared about winning, but unless I duo’d with a Main Tank, do you have any idea how rare it was to actually get a MT player? And when Zarya was unplayable in Bunker, it almost made me quit Comp until she was viable again, I still could play Support and DPS, but even covering two roles was still too risky when I could get no competent tanks on my team. Yes, a lot of my games were 2-2-2, but looking at queue times now, most of those probably still had 4 DPS mains. And a lot of games weren’t even 2-2-2 to begin with as well.

Yeah I don’t buy the “its already 2-2-2” line in QPC, its almost always either 2 tanks, 3 dps, 1 support, or 2 supports 1 tank 3-4 dps, etc. Rarely is it balanced. Even if it is the players play like a bunch of wild dogs with no coordination or reason and rarely pick anything with synergy.

I am a support main as well, and I pretty much only queue for role-less queue…forced 222 has made the game far less fun for me to play

I see many players playing tank or support in qp classic to the point that I only see 4+ dps players in roughly 1 in 12 matches

what has been described above is not a requirement of a valid poll

Why would you need 2 modes? Just 2 queues to fill 2 teams for the same mode. They can play against each other.

while this seems like a good idea, the non role-queue games will be almost exclusively DPS. Most Tank/Support players love role-queue because it actually gives their games consistency. Plus balancing between the two will be a pain, so seperate ranks would be needed.

Plus the further segmentation is just going to create longer queues. Maybe if they combined PC, Xbox and PS all on one server then it’d be fine.

Honestly, I think the true solution is to try and get every role one trick out of the competitive pool. They don’t have a solid enough grasp on the other roles and what effects them to play the game properly. If everyone in Ranked was a flex player that was more interested in winning than just playing Genji again, then role-queue wouldn’t be needed.

If you only want to play one role, get on quickplay. If you want to take the game seriously, the Comp.

Some solutions:
Make mandatory role-playtime minimums
Forced multi-queue (as in picking two roles at least) as well as mixing the SRs again.
Matchmaking prefers putting flex players together, and letting the one-tricks fester

I said alot not all.

Weird, pre 2-2-2 most of my QP games were 3+ DPS, people bickering about who’s gonna tank, no tanks (or one off tank) and typically playing support solo.

I’m not going to deny your experience, but you can’t deny mine either.

You ignore every single poll that doesn’t coincide with your agenda, it’s unfortunate that every poll happens to be in this category.

You also ignored the rest of my post so lets try this again.

Now that you have achievements what is your problem?

Imagine a free Q Team vs a 2-2-2 Team. The game is balanced around 2-2-2 while the Free Q Team could run goats for example. It wouldn’t be a fair game anymore.

This is a rrason why LFG failed.

True but then you would also get the 6 dps teams where no one wanted to play any other role. The risk you run for going unstructured.

Not something that should exist in a competitive environment. It’s like showing up for a hockey game and finding out your team has no goalie. The game would then be inherently not competitive, which is a lot of what you got in the pre 2-2-2 world (and you still get occasionally in post 2-2-2 when people do dumb stuff like pick 2 off tanks, 2 flex healers, etc, but nothing is perfect).

How is this different from before role queue??
