For the last several weeks, I’ve been unable to play Overwatch and even complete a single match in QP/Arcade without getting this error. Even sitting in the main menu or the practice range I’ll get this in a matter of minutes loggin in. This had happened previously a while back but cleared up shortly after my internet provider cleared up this outage that was listed for my area. This only gives me issues playing Overwatch, I’ve had no issues playing League or staying connected to Discord/Steam, or any other games and have been spending what little free time doing/playing something else when I’m not troubleshooting this. I hop back on OW to troubleshoot/Test and give up shortly after the 3-5 minute DC and have no issues playing anything else. My PING and FPS are great and have always been great. It’s just staying connected to Overwatch for whatever reason.
I’ve done just about everything I can think of or have read in either these forums, on Reddit or anywhere else I’ve seen.
All the recommended troubleshooting tips you’d see Blizzard officially posting. Power cycling my PC, router/modem. Been in contact with my internet provider on two separate occasions now. I’ve tried using a VPN and read that’s helped people, I’ve learned port forwarding and creating a static IP to facilitate all of that, Went into my network adapter and changed the “Speed and Duplex” option from “Auto Negotiation” to the “1 Gbps full duplex” option as I have a 950mb dl and even tried a few other options to test and everything I’ve done hasn’t changed anything.
Recently got my PC back after my hard drive was corrupted and needed replacing. Took it to a local shop to have all my hardware tested and the hard drive replaced. Fresh Windows 11 installed as well as all my drivers updated, firewall settings reset and battlenet/overwatch allowed through.
So I’d honestly love for someone smarter than either me (or Blizzard for that matter) to be able to fix this because I had been wanting to play this game and grind out the rest of the battlepass I paid for. I’m in no way an expert with computers or networks for that matter but have never gone through so much to play a game in my life and that’s wild to me.
ANY other suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have been experiencing the same issues. For me, I found that after the first 2-3 disconnects, they stop all together and the game is playable for the rest of the session. It seems to be a once-per-day thing so I hop into a custom game for a little bit and wait out those disconnects so it doesn’t add to the leaver penalty in quick play. I’d love if they said something about it so I can go back to playing quick play first instead of waiting 10-15 minutes beforehand…
I haven’t been that fortunate to eventually get through. I went through a lot of testing and would get up to at least 10+ disconnects all before just giving up. I’ve been stuck doing arcade/classic so I’m not penalized for disconnecting as I’m not choosing to do so. Otherwise, I’ll just go to practice range to test but I get up to about 5 minutes on average before disconnecting.
I had to submit a ticket to Blizzard with everything I did and try and list everything asking for more suggestions. I was rewarded with an automatic response generated with their main troubleshooting tips I already exhausted. Also gave a nice suggestion to post in the forums that felt like I was getting pawned off on the community so they didn’t need to help me while they collected the money I gave them over the last year since being back. I had to respond to that message to speak with someone from Blizzard and they said there were no longstanding issues which we both know is a joke because it’s all I saw on Reddit and here.
I’ve tried everything suggested to me as well as everything I’ve read others try. I know for a fact my hardware and my internet connection aren’t the issue as I’ve been in contact with my internet provider, and they’ve been ACTUALLY trying to help me with said issue. I’ve had this account since before Cataclysm was released for WoW and have stuck with Blizzard through a lot. They don’t exactly have a great reputation in the gaming community when it comes to how they’ve handled Overwatch 2. I was promised PVE I paid for and DIDN’T receive. Now they don’t even seem to wanna help me play the game I paid for and have continued to spend money on which is kinda sad. Now I only talk about Overwatch while playing something else
