Literally can't fathom why Genji is hated

But not as old-fashioned as Sun Tzu or the American founding fathers, they would be proud of how Tracer and Genji fight.

There is no honor in war, just death.

There is idea of honor or bravery in war. Many unnecessary deaths were caused by those beliefs.

The how is the problem, not the why (usually).

As support, I’ll hear his alt fire and notice my health dropping and can never find him. I can only ever catch sight of him with the camera after I die and as usual he’s break dancing in the air.

Let’s remember that Mercy 2.0’s Guardian Angel speed during Valkyrie was nerfed because it was deemed too hard for hitscans to kill her. Genji’s nanoboost was never seriously questioned by the community.

I don’t want to nerf Genji but double standards suck, no matter the heroes. Same goes for when people complained about Hanzo’s arrows size and it was later proven that they weren’t that big and that Ana’s sleep dart was the largest projectile in the game…

It would be fun to compare Mercy’s and Genji’s speed. Moth Mercy V1 VS Nano Genji. Who’s fastest ?

It’s only double standard when everything is equal but one is treated differently. Valkyrie gives Mercy a lot of protection already, flight, constant self-heal, increased GA range and speed. Without outside help.

BTW nanoboost speed was removed (not reduced like GA speed). Does that sound like double standard? (In Genji’s favor)

Mercy kept her super jump and ga dash but Genji lost ledge dash which are all mechanics based on the same bug. Does that sound like double standard? (In Genji’s favor)

I agree but Mercy’s GA depends on her team’s positioning. it’s not a “without outside help” ability. It’s very team-oriented. If Mercy’s entire team is badly positioned, she’s not gonna last long, even with improved GA speed.

I agree Mercy has protection, especially because of everlasting self-regen during Valkyrie but she doesn’t get to wipe and entire team like Nano-blade can. So I’m not sure her speed boost during GA was that problematic. The multiple insta-rezzes + GA speed boost were though. If Mercy had that speed boost during Valkyrie today, I don’t think she would suddenly become a better pick / must pick.

Genji is still very fast because blade already gives him a speed boost. Even after nano boost’s speed nerf, nano-blade is still very hard to dodge and it also keeps Genji from having other buffs as he’s held back because both his ult and Ana’s ult when combined.

Again, Super-Jump is a survival skill but I agree it should have been removed at some point as it keeps Mercy from having other buffs (just like Nanoboost and Blade keeps Genji from having buffs, as I said above).

The ledge exploit / bug (we never knew what it was in the end) was a skill that could wipe an entire team, that’s why it was removed.

I agree it’s hard to compare a support and dps hero and I don’t mind Genji and his current state. I just think nanoblade lacks real counters. Oftentimes, people survive nano-blade because of the Genji player’s own mistakes (bad timing, bad positioning or because they’re too eager for more kills to get a full wipe).

Nanoblades lacks a real counter in my eyes and other dps heroes have way weaker ults but I don’t mind this staying that way. I always advocate for not changing the game too much. Overwatch gotta keep its core and we’ve already damaged it enough.

As a tank main, Genji isn’t even on my radar, unless he is touching my squishy friends. Honestly he is such a non-threat compared to his much more overturned brother.

He can deflect, has a pretty noticable cast time where even if he doesn’t deflect, he can dash, also requires you to be in close-range of your supports, which as a Zarya is often not going to be the case (which is when a halfway-decent Genji will ult)

Has such a long, telegraphed wind up that he can dash it out pretty easy. Similar issue of Zarya’s where you’ve got to be in range of supports to make it work.

Is in no way going to counter it. Dash in + slash kills them before you’ve got time to jump on Genji

REALLY sucks at countering a genji, genji’s ability to reflect it sends pig flying instead.

Flux actually only lasts 2.

Same issues with all of these though: The amount of time it takes him to kill is insanely low under nano. A D.va ult takes long enough to wind up that he could kill your whole support backline before it fires, and even if he dies, you’ve lost the fight.

Ironically enough, I feel like Ball is one of the better ones, just because his ult lasts so dang long that you can minefield your back line to pretty much ensure Genji can’t ult in on them during a specific fight.

It is because I play him into 6 counters. Or so they say. I mean, they aren’t lying, I am just reporting the reason they allegedly hate me.

Here’s why I hate genji

1- Stupid mobility, hard to hit

2- Basically twice the abilities of other heroes

3- Remember when ults used to slowly go back to 0% after hitting Q? That was changed because of Genji’s sword unsheathe. Making some characters (cough cassidyreaper cough) way worse off in the longrun as CC magnets.

double jumping without deflect is suicide above 3700

the singular correct thing you said here

he is a countered by at least 10/30 characters, and an additional 5 up for debate, i dont have to list them here, use your brain or play genji and come back to me with your notes

valid

literally the only team comp that genji is semi consistently viable against is double shield lol, its like we’re literally playing different games

genjis projectiles are the smallest in the game, you’re using the reference of projectiles in general when genjis are in fact unique

I used to heavily dislike him I’ll admit, but even then I didn’t want sledgehammer nerfs. Especially now that I better understand why he’s a bit of a trainwreck right now. The main reason I can think of is his Nano combo, which yes is powerful, but… that’s it? Without being enabled by Ana he’s pretty meh. I wouldn’t say he’s like absolutely bottom of the barrel garbage but he definitely ain’t good. The only reason he really agitates me is because I’m a Widow main and his job is to harass an annoy me like any other flanker should, lol.

nobody said anything about double jump.

I like the character Genji, what most annoys me when playing is when a teammate picks Genji and insists on playing them into comps that are just ridiculously bad for him (I’ve seen one insist against a comp with Winston, Moira and Brig) and then getting salty and blaming the supports for not being pocketed/Nanoed (bonus points if they died while flanking). It’s not common but it definitely happens.

Hard question… I would assume Genji considering Mercy’s current speed during Valkyrie is half of Genji’s speed.

Either way, dash by itself is not a real problem. As a finisher it makes sense to have quick 50 damage. The problem for most players start with the dash reset combined with the nano and the swing. Kill-dash-kill-dash. That’s where things get way too problematic and way in theory Genji shouldn’t be able to one shot a target even with nano.

At least speaking for diamond and bellow as this is my only experience with rank games against Genji.

Either way, I don’t think it’s double standards - people do see a problem but don’t understand the reason for it.

For Hanzo’s arrows, the arrows really aren’t too big but you don’t take into account that compared to hit scans they are big and that they are slower, compared to hit scans so it’s easier to let enemies run into them.

The reason I compared them to hit scans is because people don’t play enough of gravity effected heroes to really understand how projectiles work. With Torbjorn for example it’s very easy to land headshot compared to hit scans if you have medium aim.

I personally don’t find this specifically to be a problem with Hanzo but players that do die to Hanzo pretty quickly just don’t compare it fairly and blame the projectile size instead of the gravity+speed that are what makes it stronger.

Only thing I hate about Genji is that I always get the Genji that has troubles securing a single kill with his four minute blade and the enemy team always gets the pocketed monster that gets a 3k every fight.
