It’s not a necessity. It’s an incentive for playing as the less desired role, that instead of giving you credits or lootboxes that no one even cares about at this point, will give players something valuable: “skipping the line”
Teaching people how to play tank.
Tankmindset is not taught in many games, their is little to no knowledge people can build upon.
You need a positive feedback to actually stick with tanking if you try it out and want to learn it, but if you have no foundation there will be just negative reinforcement
- force 2-2-2 while:
- nerf tanks to make them unattractive to play
- do not release new heroes for 7 months
This is how Blizz tried to solve the problem - do exactly the opposit to really solve the problem.
I know how to fix it.
instead of just rolling over and accepting 132 wont come, advocate for it like people advocated for the original role lock.
I only came back to try 132 and I loved it. and I will be hardcore advocating to make it permanent, but if it just is experimental and doesn’t go live, the game will go back to being uninstalled.
132 is amazing. we need to advocate for it, rather than accepting it was just an experiment
Personally the way I think this should be fixed is with the use of subcategory’s while we keep the 2-2-2 queue system.
The way I see this working is we take the heroes that do more than their intended role (lets use Mei as an example) and we throw her into 1 of the 3 new subcategory’s (one for the combining of each role) Mei’s would be the tank/dps role.
Using this subcategory now anyone that queues for tank or support can have the option to pick our example Mei, meaning that any Mei one tricks if they see that dps queue times are too high can just queue for tank instead.
We do this for afew of the heroes and we buff/nerf them accordingly so they don’t sway too far to one side of the role and I think this could work. Heck this is at least worth the effort to put on experimental as it fixes the problem without the need to COMPLETELY rework a bunch of characters like they will be needing to with 1-3-2
This mostly seems like a bad idea? I think the only change that should see light in live is the change to Hog’s Take a Breather. The D.va, Zarya, and Reinhardt changes in particular would be fairly egregious with two tanks. The other changes might be okay.
Topic: It’s really unfortunate that they can’t test 2-3-2 easily. It would be interesting to see if that would be a better solution.
It’s not that im rolling over and accepting it wont come (I mean personally I’m jumping for joy that its most likely not going to.
It’s just with a change like this feedback has been pretty 50-50 from what im seeing and when making a change this big you want it to be more of a 75-25 at the very least like 2-2-2 was
222 was not 75 25. many MANY more were against it than for it. they just got silenced by false flagging, and nothing every got done to those who false flagged.
there have been MAGNITUDES of pro 132 threads ive seen 404d for false flagging too.
its not a 5050 split. I assure you. more people are liking 132 than not
not sure how much this would help but im always down with getting rid of smurfs.
In one afternoon on a Saturday I was placed with 43 different suspected smurfs(of which 31 admitted to it when I asked). Thats 31-43 spots taken up by people who shouldn’t be there. And thats just the games I was in, how many more games were going on at the same time with spots filled by people who shouldnt be there?
Oh yeah, is that competitive?
I’m confused by your question
Remove this forum altogether…
There is too much hate on this website for us to ever reach a constructive point.
DPS queue times aren’t broken, they don’t need to be fixed. If you want shorter queue times, try not playing the most popular role. I have no issue waiting in queue for DPS games, I have other things I can do.
That fixes tanks, Not the discussion we’re having.
- Add more healers & tanks.
That’s pretty much how you can fix dps queue times for the time being. And by adding the new tank changes from experimental card.
I actually think is thread has been pretty chill and constructive
The dev’s aren’t just gonna drop the amount of healers and tanks we need to fix the queue times. However moving some dps into a tank/dps hybrid or a support/dps hybrid section on the hero select screen could work O.O (allow me to shamelessly plug my own idea here)
The new tank changes are either not good or too overpowered (thou I would be down if they moved the new zarya over but nerfed her to only 1 extra teammate bubbled and its in a weaker bubble)
Minimum match-in-role timeframe guarantee for multiqueuers.
If you queue for all three roles you are guaranteed to get placed into at least one match for each role within a certain timeframe.
On the backend you might be able to do it by tracking how much time a player has spent multi-queuing and using that to treat them as having queued continuously for the role it has been the longest since they played.
For example, Player A queues for all three roles and has been playing and queuing for 30 minutes today. They have played matches as both tank and support but not DPS yet. The queue now treats them as having been queued continuously for 30 minutes as a DPS.
It avoids having to build a dedicated priority system and uses metrics that should already be available to the devs.
oh I actually quite like this idea as it encourages flex play
Then we’re back to 1-3-2.
