Leavers - Solution Suggestion

Not sure why, but my last post was hidden by “Akismet”. No feedback on why.

I know others have posted solutions but I have one that is quite unique.
Assuming they don’t also delete/hide this one as well.

Solution is simple really.

Keep metrics on players unfinished/finished games. Use these metrics to create a score.

Metric 1 = total games
Metric 2 = completed games
Metric 3 = unfinished games
Metric 4 = games finished for others

analytic 1 = unfinished/finished games = reliability score

Players will accumulate a leaver score every time they don’t finish a game.

Lets say player (A) has 15 unfinished games in a week. This player now has a special status that will change their game que behavior such that when they que for a game, they will be put into games that need replacements (other leavers) as a top priority. They won’t be able to que and play a full game until they have finished as many games as they have left.

I understand some unfinished games are due to technical issues and I’m willing to bet these are in a severe minority of cases. Metrics will likely show the nature of the unfinished game, not only in prevalence but other conditions or metrics that can substantiate why the game was unfinished, such an an unusually high ping prior to leaving game, length of time from last unfinished game to recue etc…

Additionally the “reliability score” could also be synergistic with the endorsement feature (that you butchered in OW2 imo). The previous endorsement system allowed for more discernment of a player(s) character than this current one.

You could even include a grace-score of some kind that allows for a specific number of unfinished games per week, that decays or resets to 0 with enough time between unfinished games. You can even modify this grace score to coincide with technical issues on blizzards end so when you launch a new game and expect technical issues to leave people with unfinished games they aren’t penalized for it.

The possibilities are endless…I’m honestly confused as to why this issue…is still an issue.

Hiding my previous post almost immediately makes me wonder if you don’t want to solve the problem for some reason.
