Leavers are becoming way too common

The lack of any visible punishment (i.e. SR loss) for leaving a game is causing players leaving games to become way too common, a 15 minute queue ban prevents absolutely nothing when you tend to spend 5-10 mins in a queue to find a game anyway. Leavers were nowhere near as common in Overwatch 1 due to the substantial SR loss that would be thrown in your face the second you abandoned, OW2 has none of this. Please fix this.

I agree with you but the leaver problem was always there in Overwatch.

I fail to see how it will change.

I hate this while “you will be punished if u leave before 2m”. Most of the times matches don’t last very long after they bail.

I’ve bailed on a few games. More since OW2 than the past year of OW1.

When you see people trickling in one by one, going 1v5 with zero awareness, and supports trying to flank solo. It’s really hard to just wait out the whole match doing nothing because there is nothing to be done.

I don’t have all day to watch the dumbest people I’ve seen since the first month of OW1.

No more of that for me. I’m going to be a quitter until I play with a team.

timer is for rejoins, ignoramus. half the time, players return. relax.

I’ve probably left more games in OW2 than in my 6 years of OW1 combined. Partially due to match quality but also because there is zero reason to stay in game, oh jezz, a 75% penalty for a battle pass that will give me a voice line? I think I can live with that.

you’re looking at it from 1 perspective. yours. there were endless needless sr deductions in ow1 due to server connection failures, where a match hadn’t yet actually began, players choosing heroes, but not all players successfully connected. the ones that didn’t loss 50 sr for no reason. sometimes its wise to look at things on the bright side instead always the bitter side.

Would you prefer backfill in competitive
mode?

Not to be that guy but I’ve been disconnected five times in one evening because of instability, why should I be punished for that? I’m on a one hour suspension for things out of my control as wil be others, don’t hate the player, hate the games inability to maintain stability, I’m fuming as it is already

Unless it doesn’t let you unfortunately

valid question. past due.

I’ve been advocating for backfill to be added to Competitive for years now and Blizzard still have not added it.

The one game mode that needs backfill the most doesn’t have it.

Yes. 100000000000000000000% yes.

Look at it from the back filler’s perspective. You’re probably in a losing game. If they backfill and you lose, does their SR drop? If it doesn’t, then you can’t really give them SR for a win either.

its very important that you dont leave or you wont get rainbow backrounds & a ugly cassidy ranger skin

only after the 2min timer expired.

Its probably new players that dont understand/care about the penalty for leaving competitive maches.

The lack of any form of “evenly matched teams” are also becoming way to common…

No way those things could have any correlation

Ngl the matchmaking has always been like this, but it just become much more obvious since the ow2 launch

If it’s comp, I feel for you. But if I’m in quickplay and the situation isn’t fun, I’ll be leaving. My patience can only handle so much blatant feeding and scattering.

Sadly, i fear problems of these nature are only going to get worse with time.

Welcome to f2p where it doesn’t matter what misguided punishment you want to inflict since the f2p player has almost zero commitment to the game when a match is wasting their time or unfun

Players don’t change, bliz made bad systems that aren’t rewarding
