Knockback changes have turned tanking into a nightmare

I mean, this is just a lazy hyperbolic strawman…

What with all the complaints about CC, then suddenly some of the class that would (probably…?) be on the receiving end of most of the knockbacks is now more vulnerable… Surely you can understand some of the annoyance?

The annoyance? Sure.

The QQ? No. The hate? No. The desire to remove it in-part or completely? No.

CC is a thing. Put on your big-boy (or girl) pants and deal with it. You don’t like getting knocked around a bit? Get your teammates to screen for you better and learn how to counter.

Is no counter available? This is a viable complaint, but that’s not what I’m reading here. I’m reading, “People can counter me. Nerf them!”

Nothing more.

Orisa, Hammond, even D.Va were not problem heroes specifically before this was implemented. So how do you justify this nerf?

It’s completely arbitrary.

Poor Zen! Actually I wouldn’t mind at all

Then every character would end up being Orisa and D.Va pre-knockback when they started firing.

That’s highly exploitable, specifically because there’s no move accel.

This is more-so just a raw baseline.

Support just struck me as the “Light Class” because the majority of the heroes in that category are relatively small or have decent forms of self-sustenance [Zenyatta and Brigitte being the only unique cases], while the majority of heroes in the DPS roster have no form of regaining health or are decently bigger in size than Supports.

That’s blizzard for you.
They have to fix every little ‘bug’ even if the hero is already weak or it’s a fun mechanic. Eg. Lucio superjump; Moira healing through barrier; some shadowstep cooldown reset thing they ‘fixed’ last year; Rein animation cancels and there’s probably more.

Make D.va boop again

Tracer is thiccer than Brigitte confirmed

Tracer as thicc as Bastion.

More hyperbole… I had a quick scroll through and I couldn’t see any of that here =\

Why attempt to make childish jabs at people who are concerned with the direction the game is going?

I’m not seeing any of what your going on about here? Admittedly I just quickly skimmed through it, perhaps I missed something. Perhaps if you could link specific points you are referring too without worthless jabs and attempts to belittle them?

He asked several leading questions about what I would prefer. Implying I’d like the knockbacks removed, entirely and damage no longer taken, and so on. He’s creating extreme complaints in his mind and arguing against those.

I’d just be happy to go back to the D.Va and Orisa reduction levels.

It’s bug fixing.
They fixed something to how it is supposed to work.

In Dva’s and Orisa’s case did they had unintended knockback resistance since day 1, and they have acknowledged this bug for over a year ago.

So I don’t consider this a nerf. Just fixing something so it works like how it was supposed to work since day 1.

Also, Orisa has fortify and Dva has great mobility. I think they will be more fine than any other tank, DPS’er and healer.

They’re objectively worse as a consequence.

Orisa wasn’t even good, now for 8 seconds out of 12 she can’t even rely on her barrier to shield dance because she’ll be thrown 50 feet away from it. A slight reduction in movement slow from firing is no help to that.

I’m wondering if you had any specific desired Orisa buffs in mind. I have a few ideas myself, but I worry that most of them are totally overpowered.

Ideas for Orisa buffs:

  1. Allow Halt to pull through shields, but if you do pull through a shield, you have to detonate your Halt green ball closer to the shielded enemy before it will pull them, and consequently, you’d get much less pull distance from it against shielded enemies. Does no damage to the shield. Could be useful for re-positioning a shielded Bastion. Also, make it pull Torb turrets and other superchargers, and make it maybe destroy Sym turrets.

  2. Allow supports to heal the supercharger tank when it’s deployed, for however long it’s there. It could still be destroyed by the enemy, even if it’s got 2 healers on it. Focus fire from a few players can out-damage two healers, and the supercharger is still immobile, and easy to hit. If it’s necessary to off-set this with something, make the supercharger slightly bigger so it has a bigger hit-box.

  3. This one is TOTALLY overpowered, but I still like it. Allow Mercy to boost or heal the supercharger. Boosting it would provide an extra 5 - 10% damage boost to affected heroes, and healing it would pass on her heals through the s-charger to every teammate close enough to it to gain it’s effects. To stop this from being TOTALLY overpowered (which it is), Mercy’s healing would be split evenly among the players under the effect of the s-charger, so the healing is greatly reduced, but allows her to pile on to the s-charger’s effect at least a little.

  4. Fortify - more damage resistance, knocks down Rein if he charges into her, and all knockback effects not only do nothing to Orisa when fortified, they’d actually deflect the knockback, resulting in an AoE knockback effect to enemies, centered on Orisa. However, any teammates close by Orisa wouldn’t be affected by her deflection, but they would still be affected by the original knockback effect if they were close enough. This should not apply to knock DOWN effects, which would utterly nerf Rein’s ult beyond repair. For knockdown effects, Fortify would behave as it does now, other than knocking down Rein on an incoming Charge.

Before you flame me, I’m not suggesting that ALL of these be implemented. But any one of them, MAYBE. Probably not. I dunno. The first three I’ve been thinking about a while, but now that I re-read them, I think I like #4 best. They ALL seem pretty OP though.

Orisa already has a ability that makes her cc immune for some seconds…

If tanks get CC resistance, they need to have their damage reduced to make up for it. Booping tanks is one of the ways DPS and supports can get away from them and avoid being killed.

This is especially true of Winston and Dva who can get right into your face easily.

Well if this remains as is, you’re forever going to have Rein in your face, because the situation you describe is only going to further keep the other Tanks out of the game.

Hey, at least with knockback, I can get Rein out of my face. At least temporarily.

I am ok with some kind of tank knockback solution. But it needs to be adapted to the individual tank, and making it so tanks can’t hunt and kill other roles has to be kept in mind. If I couldn’t boop Winston off me he’d pretty much be able to kill me without any counterplay possible whatsoever.

how about using Orisa’s ability that makes hes immune to any cc lol.
