KarQ's support take

what say you?

I fell asleep after he said, ā€œApparentlyā€.
I’ll keep saying it.
Cry all you want but there’s a reason people don’t want to play support and why more players won’t play it.

Well I’d say there’s a difference between Impactful and Fun.

Tanks were always impactful. But the problem was that they weren’t Fun.

Supports in OW2 are impactful, but they are objectively, not fun enough.

when i headshot tracer as zen i want confetti to explode out of her skull to make it feel more impactful and rewarding. I’m not joking. I also want her death scream to be really loud and for everyone to hear it clearly

If supports were good people wouldn’t dodge support queue like Ebola. Yeah you have Moira and Lucio who are S++ tier but who tf likes playing these characters…

I’m gonna be honest man I don’t really care what this guy has to say about supports and care more about my personal gameplay experience and other players like me. i mean ā€˜double edged sword’? zen is indirectly nerfed by almost every major design philosophy switch in ov2,

he barely gets use out of his passive for instance because he already has a shield for poking with his orbs that regens, and if he gets jumped on he has no mobility or self peel to save himself so he’s just going to die. like the support passive just does not come into play 9 times out of 10

i genuinely believe role passives were completely unnecessary and feel really silly? like, keep the tank one since there’s only one tank on each time, remove the dps speedboost and the support one, call it a day

Just wait until they release Mediocre Heal Man #8! What will he have? speed? slow? maybe more no-heal-for-you? Pick a watered down gimmick guys, it’s anyone’s guess! Just can’t do more than Ana that’s a no-no 'cus she do too much.

I can’t wait to try out the moderately tiny gun they give Heal Man #8.
OoOh wowie wow

I like his take on the support roles and I’d have to agree with him. I really enjoy the way supports are turning out but it’s definitely something everyone has to readjust to (which I think most complaints stem from)

Each day, players are making better adjustments with natural cover to synergize with the passive

He’s bang on. I was just saying how readjusting for supps would probs feel the most stark. The role is in a good spot- I’m just hoping the supp outcry doesn’t result in unnecessary buffs.

I think Overwatch would be a bit better if we all took this approach.

Idk everyone on my discord liking it more than OW1 so far

that’s not how REGEN works. if it starts after 1s, you don’t instantly get back to a good hp threshold the moment it starts. it’s HoT not a burst heal.

only beneficial if you’re disengaging as opposed to using it for duel.

and that’s the problem with a lot of what he’s saying about the passive. it’s largely only applicable if the support is escaping/disengaging and not actually helping midfight to help take out the threat against them.

and escaping != dealing with the threat.
it’s simply offloading the threat to someone else, and whether that someone else can deal with them is the decisive matter —> supports NOT having more ā€œindividual impactā€ contrary to the intention of the game.

Naturally, with the amount of tanks needed being cut in half, support will become the next bottleneck.

You really don’t need a discord or even a brain to understand why this is.

The complainers are almost always Ana one tricks, used to sitting out in the open, behind 18 different layers of shields… shooting Rein in the butt the whole match.

They want a passive playstyle. And OW2 won’t let them play passive and win games.

When I tested out OW2, I really expected supports to be a lot worse. But they’re really not bad at all.

I’ve been adoring how Brig plays in OW2, and neither Moira or Mercy feel like they need to be aggressive to function. I think the 5v5 change allows a lot more freedom of playstyle for them. So-far. Meta development and competitive play might change that.

For Bap and Zen however, I do think it’s a net loss. Their playstyles feels a lot more limited than in OW1. But far from the doomsday some seem to proclaim it as.

I think they’re saying that the passive regen + inspire gets you up and into a useful state faster, not that you’re back to full instantly.

we need more confetti in ow

I mean look at the exact literal words:

Literally hold shield up for 1s to stop incoming dmg and you’re healthy

if it’s 1s to start, and he’s saying it’s 1s of not taking damage to become healthy, pretty sure joining the 2 dots together means he’s saying it instantly gets you bank up to ā€œuseful stateā€.

sure he’s exaggerating likely, but it’s literally not what his literal words say.

The amount of coping in this thread…

exactly! the only two good support characters are the least fun! And Brig is boring AF without the stun now (I used to enjoy her), she has no ā€œbig impactā€ ability, half the time you just sit there and exist, waiting to die and trying to proc inspire, guarding the heroes on your team who have the fun play maker abilities.
