Junker Queen is a bad name

It needs to be said. Reading the new article on the data from the second beta, it was just so incredibly awkward reading “Queen” over and over.

It’s beyond obvious that “Junker Queen” was a placeholder name put into the game in 2017 more as a descriptor than an actual name, and it was never intended to be a hero name.

Its like calling the next hero “Fox Girl.” It’s just a clumsy, awkward name for an OW hero and I simply don’t like it. Zero creativity and zero effort, resulting in a name that just doesn’t seem to fit into this world or on this character.

Edit: Before you reply to this telling me for the 1000th time that it’s not her real name, instead consider logging off and walking into the sea. (Whoever flagged this as a “real life threat” — lmao. Come on, people. Get a grip.)

i don’t know why they didn’t choose to use her actual name. odessa or dez would’ve been cooler

tbh a lot of this hero is bad… does not have the quality of the original heroes… but looking at her i expect even worse quality of further heros.

Junker Queen is like Wrecking Ball (which is his official in-game name), Also technically like Junk-rat.
People will start to call her a different name as time goes on.

“Queen” is a nice nickname imo.

Thanks, but I understand how OW names work. That’s not my complaint. My complaint is that the name sucks, I was pretty clear.

How does the word Queen suck? Sounds majestic to me.

I thought people have already got used to that after the release of wReCkInG bAlL

My objection is not to the word Queen itself.

I have a request — read the actual post and process the information in it, then reply. This will go a lot faster if I don’t have to shoot down every weird idea you invent about me out of thin air.

You actually don’t like the name.

Wrecking Ball sounds like a placeholder, since 2018

Does perfectly fit her. She’s indeed a queen. Watch the cinematic.

I think it’s a fine name. Junkers have been mentioned in the lore since the beginning.

I agree that shortening to “Queen” isn’t as cool. I prefer the sound of “JQ”.

True, it is a bit on-the-nose.

I mean, sure, there’s Wrecking Ball, but that’s because he’s a hamster in a mad max setting, I’d expect a name like that.

But to call the ruler of Junkertown, “Junker Queen” sounds more like a PvE boss than a playable character.

Agreed, it’s pretty unimaginative. It’s just a description of the character.

You may as well call Ana “Sniper Granny”

Or Reinhardt “Hammer Man”

I think Wrecking Ball set a bad example for names.

Wow, how’d you pick up on that!?!?!

Except there was no “Wrecking Ball” in the game before he arrived. You can’t just copy my word choice and cram it into whatever your point is. The phrase “Junker Queen” has been in the game since 2017. It was not a name. That’s why I say it’s a placeholder, it was what she was indirectly called before she had a real OW hero name. Like when the little girl in the Soldier 76 cinematic calls Soldier 76 a hero, his name didn’t turn out to be “Hero” later on.

Yeah, I’m obviously aware that she is a queen. Not sure why you think I didn’t follow that.

Riddle me this, Mr. Gamer Logic – would you find it strange if people referred to the Queen of England as “British Queen”? Would it be weird for other people to address her directly with that name? “Hey, British Queen, how are you?” Would it be weird if the news reported, “British Queen was waving at people in London today.” Does that sound like a name or a nickname to you? Be honest.

You know that they probably would be called like that if they would be from junkertown XD
They just put description of people as names there it seems after all.

And he also i think was connected to junkertown and where he got that name or im mistaken?

If I have my lore correct, then yes, he got that name by fighting as a gladiator in a series of home-built mechs in the fighting ring in Junkertown.

So maybe it’s just a Junker problem? Got too much radiation, and now they can’t think of creative names?

It’s a shame she had to go through life without a name/nickname, until she finally got one when she became queen.

This or you get so many figthers there that they run out of titles to give out to them, and its like in some movies where announcers give fighters names as their first fight starts with no imput of named person XD

I’m just going to pretend that they are all called “Junker” until they do something notable and gain a second name.

Makes it hard to get someones attention though.

“Hey, Junker!”

300 people, all named Junker, turn to look

Lets just make fan theory that her old nickname/name was something she was ashamed for, like idk, Daisy, and silenced everyone for using it when she got to the top
