It's Official! Bots will be added in Quick Play!

But it’ll just be for “new players.” How soon will this be extended to the rest of the player base? Will Blizzard follow Marvel Rivals QP’s example by filling lobbies with bots after players experience 2-3 losses back-to-back? Or could this be something more desperate?

This is huge if true!

I’ve suggested it a long time ago that one way to address long queue times could be to just add bots!

Maybe Jensen Huang could chip in on the tech!

I’d rather not play at all than against bots

The fact that there’s new players saying it’s okay is worrying, but it’s also aimed at them. I’m the 2k Andy they don’t want to play against. So I’m not horribly against it.
Just don’t want to find out it was a lie and it’s just bot in QP like other games /:

will they count as playerbase for Blizzard? will they reach 4 billion players after the update?

If I see any bot in quickplay I stop to play this game as long it’s not removed

Edit : even in the ennemy team

I don’t want that kind of PVE in OW2 Blizzard

This is what happens when you praise slop from NetEase - the rest of the industry adopts it.

Hope y’all are proud.

Having said that, new players were already “encouraged” to play Vs AI mode. This basically just forces them to do it, regardless of which option they pick.

It sucks, because you should always be playing against people when you pick a PVP gamemode but as we’ve seen over the last month, most people clearly don’t have an issue with it as long as they get to win.

Bots added to Quick Play in #Overwatch2 :robot: Exclusively as part of the new player experience, newcomers may face AI-controlled opponents in their first few matches of Quick Play. Skilled players on fresh accounts will be seeded into higher MMR more quickly.

So new accounts only, it’s to make smurf accounts not drop straight into bronze/wood games, and to give newbies some confidence and practice before slamming them with everything OW.

If this remains their usage, this is probably one of the more player friendly things they’ve done in a while.

LMAO all those who laughed at for saying bots were in qp already, im pretty sure it was tested.

hey hey dont waste your breath shills, i know what you will say ,

"ooohh oooh we used to paly against AI to new players /… you know putting bots in a pvp only game is so normal and we totally and com pletely trust blizzzard … :flushed: :ghost: "

muahahaha muahhahaha oh we will totally never use it to compensate for loss of players. :hugs:

It sounds like they want to use them to accurately assess skill levels so people land in the right MMR before they hit other physical players.

Blizzard tends to shut down games which don’t bring in total bank, I’d guess they would close the servers before that stage.

Blizzard has quite the history of killing games which haven’t been making enough money.

Well yeah. That’s why I say that.

The stated use is fine, but I’m not gonna cry the sky is falling till I see a piece take someone out.

It’s actually not a bad idea.
The newcomer experience is like dropping the soap in the prison shower.

Having a couple of bot matches to get seeded can do so much good

i don’t mind bot option. for example i sometimes use training against AI to chill or just to practice heroes.

But i play OW strictly because its people vs people and cross platform. That is the main reason i play OW. So i wouldnt want to play a QP or compet match and find i was playing with or against bots.

but that post in that link is just someone coming up with click bait. its not official so … :man_shrugging:

New player experience must be a literal nightmare I imagine.

“here you go, 40 different possible characters to be against, screen is a mess of indicators and weird noises, go get that blinky objective that we’ve never explained before”

It’s almost exactly like those “you’re in school to take a test you’ve never studied or have no idea what it’s about” nightmares.

You forgot the map design and you play against experienced players and other smurfs.
My partner wanted to try OW and he was utterly overwhelmed and stopped after 3 matches, understandably

how is that going to help when even bronze players are better than the bots?

when i started casual against AI was hard. Now its funny that it was hard back then.

Actually the hardest current AI is much stronger than a bronze player, I would rate them mid to low silver.

that’s only because they have an aimbot

if you appear within 90 degrees of their cone of vision they instantly lock on and fire

it’s not fair difficulty
