You’re absolutely right but people with no aim feel powerless and got killed by a smurf once so they want to nerf a hero 90% of the Overwatch playbase can’t dominate with anyway. Nobody below diamond can destroy the map with Widow.
I think the solution to widow is actually better maps. The only reason I think she is a problem is that the maps are designed to favor hitscans in general with little cover and flank routes. If we had more maps like Kings Row, where she has her spots and is viable without being busted, then she would be in a good spot. Problem is that most maps are like Jukertown
The newest maps are a straight line corridor quite often but there are side passages and ways to sneak up on people if you look around.
Some of them are good in that regard. Midtown is balanced… But then you get circuit royale. I’d argue Shambali is also quite snipery
5v5 could have very much worked if it was entirely open queue and tanks were not super buffed raid bosses.
Everyone scared of another goats meta needs to remember that outside of OWL, the biggest complaint and push for role queue was because nobody wanted to play tanks or healers.

It is working, and will work much better in the future, the issue is they spent too much time and resources on the tank role because I guess they assumed that cutting out an entire tank from queues wouldn’t be enough so they superbuffed the role too much and also gave them essentially 4 new heroes (JQ, Ram, Doom, Orisa rework) whereas all supports got was Kiriko who is fun yeah but her damage is way too high skill for most players and her Cleanse just enables tanks to trample people unpunished.
They really should have pushed the Season 4 support to be released in Season 2 instead of Ramatraa, and they need to hurry up with the supposed support reworks they are doing
In Beta 1 they were on a roll with fast balance changes that were positive and directly taken from player/pro feedback. Then they slowed down immensely in Beta 2 because console got let in which meant no more fast patched and flat out stopped in Season 1.
They should revert some stuff back to what it was in Beta 1. 1s support regen, Doomfist entirely reverted to Beta 1 state. Maybe Zen 225 HP again but nerf discord a lot, idk.
5v5 could really work had they finished designing it. They reworked the tanks to fit and made changes to a few dps, but ignored several other dps and the support role entirely.
Not to mention the maps needed adjustments to fit the new pacing and lack of tanks. And I’m not talking about adding a few piles of crates. Sitelines, cart speed, and travel distances needed a serious look.
What is it with the queue anxiety OW2 defenders keep bringing up? 6v6 is gonna attract those that already LEFT OW2.
If 1 million people stop playing the game then queue times are already affected, if those same 1 million people decide to come back to the game to ONLY play “classic” 6v6 mode the queue times would still be the same except now more players are populating OW overall and would bring in more sales, hell it could even make the 6v6ers try out 5v5 again and queue times will IMPROVE.
Alienating players is bad for any game, get them in whatever way possible.
I think you’re afraid 6v6 mode is gonna take away more players from 5v5 and if that’s the case what does that tell you?

it would work if they properly balanced EVERY CHARACTER to fit 5v5 gameplay
like seriously there is so many unchecked character that solely designed to kill off tank and main tank but left unchanged during the 5v5 change yes im talking about junkrat the only dps who have his own personal CC and big damage it’s fun to watch my ally have their HP from 100 to 20 in blink of an eye
