People have been constantly blaming sigma for orisa being nerfed, but it seems like people have forgotten how busted orisa was after the release of 222.
There was a short period after the release of 222 where Orisas pickrate was super high and her winrate was around 58%. This meant you would pretty much always win if you had an orisa, literally borderline moth mercy OP levels. This was before sigmas release and was during the orisa hog meta.
Sigma made the problem worse, But orisa was absolutely a huge problem while being disgustingly overpowered.
If you think about it, if sigma was released before orisa, then orisa would of been blamed for the double shield meta, it was just awful timing for sigma.
Is it normal for a hero to have a 57% winrate with a 10% pickrate? Jun 2019
Orisa's winrate across ranks Jun 2019
From a GM perspective Orisa is statistically overpowered No Orisa no win July 13 2019
Sigma release date: 23rd July 2019

sigma can be ran with anything and still do fine.
both orisa and sigma recieved numerus nerfs yet sigma seems to be the only one standing with orisa being replaced by ball or hog.
and if you want to play orisa you have to play her with a sigma.
even if orisa hog was the problem it could have been easily fixed by nerfing just the halt as that was the synergy between the 2. halt and hook.
rework sigma

This is a strawman argument. I was talking about the people who said orisa only got nerfed because of sigmas release and that before that she was fine. Which is objectively false.
if anything orisa would have still been nerfed but not as much. they wouldnt have touched her shield or fortify. orisa could have in a better place if sigma didnt synergise with her so well
also that was in the ptr not the actual game. sigma was realised officially in aug 13 2019 the same time as rolelock
That means he still would of been released after her busted statistics, my point still stands. But thank you for correcting me.
Yes, but the same could have been said for Sigma.
how so? you play sigma with anything

Yes he synergizes with more heroes than orisa, But the main problem is sigma orisa. If it wasn’t for that insane synergy they have they wouldn’t have been nerfed so hugely.
And my main point still stands, Orisa would still have needed huge nerfs to compensate for how disgustingly OP she was at the time.
and what would those nerfs would be to equate all the nerfs she recieved since role lock. i suggersted halt would have been nerfed because she was being played with hog and blizz would have most likely gone for the synergy they both have
So you’re agreeing with me, I’m glad because that was my point, to target the people who think she wouldn’t of been nerfed if it wasn’t for sigma.
to an extent she would have been nerfed but not as much if it wasnt for sigma

Of course, and I’d be delusional to think otherwise. But the same goes for sigma.
Well, 2-2-2 and Sigma were in the same update live iirc. And Sigma was hella strong. But before that, Orisa was already meta. Ladder mostly played halt-hook, and pros were running D.va with her instead of Hog.

Yep, that’s my point. It’s why I’m sick of people spreading false information like “orisa was nerfed only because of sigma”. I’m not denying that sigma was very strong though, and he made the problem worse.
Probably because double shield was caused by Sigma, and a lot of people think it is the only reason Orisa was nerfed.

Sigma and to lesser extent Ball can be run in any comp because they have overloaded kits. That speaks volumes of their versatility, rather than any perceived strength. Meanwhile, Orisa’s entire kit is designed around bunker. One of the two tanks had to take the fall to kill double-shield, it made sense to kill the oh-so-situational Orisa than the versatile Sigma in terms of comp variety.
