It Hurts To Admit, But

It doesn’t really matter what they view it as, Blizzard doesn’t do reverts on anything nor do I really care if you find it interesting either. And it was absolutely a matter of no spine. This is still just a game and instead of enjoying it, people opted to play what was less fun for them personally and chose to blame it on everyone else. That is no one’s fault but their own.

Hopefully Blizzard will take it for what it is, no one plays an FPS to play tanks and supports and this is their last endeavor at including them in shooters.

Well “the same old problem” is that most people aren’t playing heroes outside of their pool. Their pool usually being one or two heroes at best.

Plenty of people also reduced their pools greatly since role queue came out. Mine dropped from 14 to 4 or 5. I practically refuse to play anything outside of Ana/Zen if I feel like letting a friend play DPS and Pharah/Hanzo/Junkrat.

I expected role queue to fall flat on it’s face out of the gates because there were obviously going to be growing pains.

But I have to admit, even I am not amused by how persistent people are to continue playing DPS even though they are bad at it and have been shown how heavily comp opposes the ideals of their optimal game experience.

It’s just unreal.

It’s insane how Blizzard does nothing to differentiate comp and quick play. They are identical modes. They are the exact same thing because they do nothing to prevent casuals from entering the hardcore mode and taking a crap all over it.

I do not understand why in a Blizzard game, respecting the casual environment is a given and something most everyone does without having to be asked. But if you are given something difficult, that requires more focus, teamwork and the goal of victory above all else and second to none, they are allowed to come into it placing victory 2nd 3rd or 4th on their list of priorities.

Like honestly dude I hate casual players. It’s always give and take with them. You give and they take. Everything. You’re not allowed to have anything. Not even a voice.

It is more stressful right now that is true. But it is because every game is very serious and most of the ppl actually trying to win, leading do overall better experience of actual real game, imo.

But if i want a relaxed and random game tho i do go to Mystery Heroes.

And for whatever reason you don’t like QP role que, currently there is always QP classic, so it’s not really a problem unlike in Competitive.

I mean in general not really having the experience of playing other heroes. Usually because they feel “personally connected” to a specific hero.

Which is really just a psychological thing and it doesn’t do anyone any good.

eh, one tricks never bothered me. People that reduced their hero pool is significantly more detrimental than one tricks.

It wasn’t about making QP (or Comp) better… that’s a mistake in thinking right there to start. Nice try though.

Maybe its instead time to accept that 60-70% of the community support 2-2-2 and its here to stay…

I think the QP matchmaking is really bad right now - that plus people are playing roles they aren’t used to - so there are going to be some growing pains.

People who have “reduced their hero pool” have played other heroes. They have an idea of what heroes mesh or have the most impact. Already significantly more of an influence on the team.

It’s not like one tricks don’t have that knowledge, they just won’t play them or can’t. Players that refuse to play heroes they know how to but won’t just cause are a bigger problem than the other, at least in my opinion anyway. I know Hanzo doesn’t mesh with certain heroes or comps, but that isn’t going to stop me from playing him if I want to. One tricks don’t really have that option.

That’s exactly it - and I hope its not like that for Comp too. Give it a month, it will be better. We also had a lot of casuals return for the event who seem utterly clueless outside of cosmetics collecting.

Which makes one tricks an increasingly worse player to have. Being severely handicapped before the game begins is not how you make favorites.

Meh, just one of those things. One tricks don’t hurt anyone in my opinion, but it’s obvious neither of us are changing our minds.

2-2-2 has been perfectly fine and fun in QP for me.

I personally have found QuickPlay to be much better with 2/2/2. I avoided old QuickPlay like the plague because it had become unbearably bad. I actually enjoy QuickPlay again. It’s now my favorite game mode.

For those who actually liked the old QuickPlay, I’ll never understand why, but there is QuickPlay Classic for you.

That view is very lacking in nuance. A lot of really competitive people pick what is going to be META, what will bring success. Some games, this means a lot of boring grind for min-max. For an FPS, it is picking what a has success. It isn’t that these people aren’t having fun, but that they are choosing one “fun” over another. They are choosing increased win-rate over role preferences. The forums are a very very very very very very low percentage of the player base. Most people will just roll with a rule change and work within it to get better, as with most patches.

In a way, Blizzard actually agrees with you though. GOATS is dead and DPS heroes are making it into more games. They are splitting the queue so people can opt to not force themselves into roles they find less fun. What you are complaining about in this section is less of an issue now. Even if I bought your line about it being the fault of the gamers who allow themselves to be role-swapped for SR and no enjoyment, fault is irrelevant to me and role-queue fixes it. That is probably why it is popular.

You act like having tanks and healers is really rare and unpopular in shooters. I don’t think that is the lesson they will take from this either. They may call it an FPS, but it is very hybrid-MOBA by design and that helped differentiate it early on. Blizz is obviously disinterested in making products like Modern Warfare and Siege.

I would hope the lesson they take from this is that their DPS roster is just more fun. They need to use that and improve how a lot of the tanks and supports function, if not with reworks than by continuing to increase those rosters. Hell, the imbalance of the role roster sizes actually mirrors the queue times pretty well, so that is probably a good direction to take things. It is either that or they adjust the role distribution in RQ (1-4-1 or something). A quicker fix but one that will have a lot of its own issues.

:woman_shrugging: And I hope they don’t try to make another PVP FPS. they should have just made Titan instead.

This is how it should work:
-Move Quickplay Classic into the main menu (Just call it quickplay)
This mode is to get familiar with the selection of heroes in a non-serious environment
-Change current quick-play name to competitive warm-up
This is to get familiar to team synergy and warm up for competitve in a more serious manner without the threat of losing SR
-Competitive
Is basically competitive, you are in to win

I could deal with this, but it makes sense that Blizz wants to dissuade people from getting used to running around like packs of wild dogs. The other problem its schisms the player base even more.
