Is anyone else excited to never play PvP ever again?

More of a PvE buff from playing WoW, but the characters were enough to get me involved in Overwatch.

Not going to lie, the past 5 years have been utterly miserable because of balancing issues mostly. But in PvE none of that stuff matters. It’s just hack and slash fun and I’m so excited for it. I don’t know if I’m excited because PvE is actually coming, or that I’ll never have to play PvP ever again.

This is coming from someone who averages around 3500 nowadays.

Wrong. There is PVE leaderboards and teamate considerations. If a game is too easy it may fruitless. If a game is too hard players get frustrated and don’t like it anymore. Or maybe one has to consider if a mode is too hard for its supposed difficulty. Plus a lot of people in pvp don’t mind playing underpowered characters.

It doesn’t matter as much at least. I doubt there will be a meta you must play or guarantee losing. Can’t say the same for PvP based on the direction the beta is going.

Not really, I’ve never found PvE shooters to be any fun. If I want to pve, I’ll go play an mmo or an rts campaign.

I am also very much looking forward to really fleshed out PvE modes. If they are good enough to focus on that instead of PvP, I’d be completely fine.

I’d certainly like a competitive side to PvE modes like leaderboards, maybe a personal rating like they have for M+ in WoW. But mostly I’m just hoping for many multiple modes, with multiple stages, stories, whatever else people smarter than me can come up with to make the PvE feel like it’s own game that could stand on its own.

Of course I also want the PvP to be just as good. That is the backbone of the game afterall.

I don’t know if I’ll ditch pvp entirely (nothing really compares to human competition.) But I am massively looking forward to PVE. Characters and story are what drew me in to overwatch, and to go so long with so little story has been a royal pain.

Not if you want to get to the top of the leaderboards or complete some really uber difficult challenges.

Ive come to enjoy pvp over time, but I definitely used to feel that way.

Enjoy the PvE as it is, because undoubtedly the game they showcased at Blizzconline is being scrapped.

I doubt there is a world where I never play pvp again, but I am definitely excited for pve. I hope it is good as my sister and I will need to buy separate copies and I do not want to do that for a meh game.

nah i love pvp but yea ill play these new 100s of archive missions just because of lore, interactions and voice lines for heroes. sounds so immersive and finally a bit of lore to a game that kind of lacks it. always wanted to know about ovewatch more and would wish for a netflix series or expanded lore. all we had was fan lore that people eventually gave up on since overwatch became stale. maybe the pve will re-ignite fan interest too

I’m just glad that all you PvE-minded players will stop trying to get the Devs to cater PvP balance to you.

I really wonder where this “balance doesn’t matter in PVE” stuff game from. I’d argue balance is the most important in PVE since, its usually more stuff to balance.

For example, In Halo’s multiplayer, you have to balance every gun and every vehicle. In the campaign, you have to balance every gun, every vehicle, but also every single enemy and their spawns and waves. And you have to balance them level after level so that there’s not too many enemies in the first stage, and too few enemies in the last stage.

Ever tried any of these.

  • Left4Dead 2
  • Back4Blood
  • KillingFloor 2
  • PayDay 2
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Gunfire Reborn

And to some extent

  • Vermintide 2

Yep, I’ve tried Left4Dead 1/2, PayDay 1/2, and Vermintide 1/2. None of them do it for me.

Though Vermintide was cool cause I used to love Warhammer Fantasy. Shame they blew up that universe, and Games Workshop is more of a shill than Blizz.

If the pve ends up in a similar case like the pvp, expectations aren’t high.

I wonder how long will OW2 be decently popular for a PVE oriented FPS

just wait until they start buffing and nerfing heroes for PVE reasons haha. it’s comingggg you watch. PVE’rs complain so much more than pvpers
