Insulting your support players…

… is like going to a restaurant and insulting the staff in order to get food.
They will probably just kick you out of the place.

I was playing Ana yesterday and after literally a minute, our Widow doesn’t get healed ‘cause I was focusing other players.
“Ana can you swap to Mercy? You’re trash”

I enter voice chat to explain that I could swap, but I’m definitely not going to, especially considering his attitude.

Widow proceeds to go AFK.
Other players ask him what he’s doing.
“Ana doesn’t heal me, I can’t carry”.

We manage to make the game last longer than it could, with me healing more than enemy supports together… but we’re in a 4v5 and we lost.

Ends the match insulting me in Spanish, thinking I wouldn’t understand.

I end the match and people add me as friend and say they’re sorry. Of course we reported him.

I really wonder how some people think they can play this game when they insult their supports.

People like that suck regardless of who theyre insulting

People like that are the worst, it’s best to let them wallow in cope than to humor them.

They’re clearly new or wholly ego-stuck, either way, life goes on and they may hopefully learn. If not, you’ll hopefully never see them again.

In todays news that didn’t happen but probably did and OP needs everyone to know everyone was on their side.

OP also wasn’t probably paying attention to every team member around them.

I main support and never get this issue. Weird.

Well trash talking people in QP is even funnier…
Once I also backfilled a game last second, someone in the team said I threw the game because I didn’t go to the payload. I was still in the hero selection screen a second before the payload reached the point.
You can’t just make some people clever, I guess?

It happens. Some regions more than others.

Yesterday, map colosseum,
Comp Orisa, widow, s76, mercy, Lucio

Whole match widow was somplain that heal is dog s**t. Whole team stick together, widow 500km from team, no one flank her, so only thing she have to deal is randome enemy shot but still the complaining didnt stop, at some point widow stand away from mercy Reach (behind wall) so I inform I speed boost to her and heal, she decide to position above me so I need or go around or wall ride back and faward to get to her, we lost fight coze spend to much time chaseing her while I could use sound barrier and save team, but I speed boost to them just to try save mercy, again widow complain that we bad support.

End it up as lost mach due to 4v5
coze widow most time was hideing from enemy that wasnt near like ~100m from her there was no one.

I do one thing if x player complain especialy on me while I have more healing than secound supports in match or more healings than x player dmg I just point that fact to them and then I abandon that player, even if we are last standing I leave that player behind or use them as a cover / excape way.
He still complain but none of healing Heroes care.

Other match I got 26k healing (I had more healing done than all supports in total) and still where called trash by Hanzo that as you could guess where behind team with only randome dmg.

I get the analogy but I still dont see how insulting your tank or DPS would be any different. Theres HPs around the map, but good luck trying to cover the lack of Tanking or DPS too.

Insulting anyone in the team is never a good way to win a match.
When people are tilted, chances you loose the game are higher. Yes, same happens when you play dps or tank and someone says you’re trash, when you could be underperforming for different reasons and being insulted is not probably going to boost your performance.
Now, support players offer a “direct service” to their teammates through healing so the concept is even more obvious imo. Maybe if you call your support “trash” they could think twice before pocketing you?

Exactly.

Hmm, press X to doubt. And yes, I am a flex player.

I think the issue here is that many Supports are not used to be on the receiving end of the stick. Since now we have Scoreboards, people can’t blame DPS 90% ofthe matches (which was what happened in OW1 btw).

So conclussion:

  • Is it bad? Yes
  • Is it worse than other roles? Not really.
  • Is it something that can be changed? Nah. Blaming and deflection will always happen, now its more spread across the roles.

Ok but this wasn’t even my case.
As I said, the player started trash talking 1 minute after the game started. Do you watch the scoreboard after 1 minute?

I ended the match with the highest heals so there’s nothing there to look scoreboard-wise.

Didnt say it was. There are people trash talking even in the lobby, just for the hero pick. What you described was just a dude raging, for zero reason. Happens :man_shrugging:

I was only pointing the “Support case”, it felt like you were giving it special attention, which to me is odd, thats it.

Yeah good luck telling that to a tank or dmg player who’s got their head so far up their own rear end all they can do is spam ‘i need healing’ and insult their support if they can’t get to them in time, because they’re out of line of sight and too far away.

Support focusing on healing everyone is rare enough as it is. Insulting a support player because you want to be pocketed is not only foolish but doesn’t help with getting heals.

I personally refuse to pocket heal anyone. The reason is simple. Pocketing one player means 4 other players won’t get healed by me, and since this is a team based game, i rather heal as many as possible, as much as possible.

Players who rely on being pocketed are typically horrible at the game or have little to no IGIQ… I mean, why else would they need to be pocketed in the first place? Because they’ve got perfect game sense/great at positioning themselves? Hell no… If they had and if they were, they’d avoid taking damage to the point where they end up with a negative k/d. Is it because they’re great at deflecting, protecting and mitigating damage and have great situational awareness? No. If they were and if they had, they wouldn’t be dying to flankers all the time because their backline aka support is dead and they’d know that their camera can be turned 360 degrees, not just 45 degrees to either side, and look behind them from time to time and listen to pings at the very least.

Exactly. When i can’t reach a player because they’re too far away, out of line of sight and behind a dozen walls, i tell them to get a health pack if they start whining about needing heals /demand i pocket them, or i just tell them to come to me for heals.

Good luck trying to cover heals for the entire team with health packs, when your support is dead because nobody cared about protecting your backline from flankers, after 10+ pings to let the rest know there’s a Genji/Junk/etc flanking them.

As i said, it’s a team based game. CoD/Fortnite players and their lack of IGIQ in team based games never ceases to amaze me…

Because chances you’re getting hard pocketed after you call your support “trash” exponentially decrease?
There is a different relationship between supports and the rest of the team than between a tank and his dps. I don’t think you can deny this.
Being pocketed is what boosts the ego of some players who think they can carry because they’re just better.
And yes, I’m human too, so if you call me trash you’re not going to be my highest priority.

Oh I beg to see those morons again, after I avoided them, in the enemy team and whoop their behind.

I dont think you have read that I am a FLEX player mate, I am playing Support and I know what it is. What you described is just normal, whether you try to heal them or not.
They just die and respawn, that easy.

Again, insulting a Tank because you think you are entitled to peels 100% is the same. Insulting a DPS because “nOtHiNg iS DyInG!!” is the same, etc.
My answer is not changing.

I have bad news for you in 5v5 …

Ofc, again, same with other roles, see above.

Like I said, same happens with other roles, but for the reason I listed, Support are not used to be the target of this , as often as DPS were in OW1. Not even close.

And yes, people have trash talked DPS even in lobby (Support players btw, what a coincidence) for their picks. I literally hard carried a team during 2 points with Sym and still got my ear waxed by a dude that didnt like I wasnt playing Sojourn (the other DPS was Ashe so lol).

Welcome to the blame game. Now there are 3 players instead of 1 :man_shrugging:

Playing support in OW2 is like working in Waffle House

In my experience trying to pocket these players to appease them doesn’t work anyway, when the expected carry doesn’t happen they’ll say you’re not pocketing them well enough.

I DESPISE that type of player and ugh you throw the healing orb at them while they’re complaining and then they jump down, like bye
