Insulting your support players…

Because your tanks and dps do not really do anything for you. Your supports heal you. All it takes is for one person with self respect to decide you need a time out and you are going to play hunt a health pack/respawn simulator. Fortunately for dps and tank players, most supports are really kind hearted people and wouldn’t actually treat them the way they deserve to be treated.

You think taking Space, keeping the enemy at bay and killing them whenever possible is nothing? Damn. Nice.

I mean thanks for exposing your bias here mate because one can clearly tell you believe Tanks and DPS are second class citizens and Supports are the superstars or VIPs.

News Flash: Supports main function IS to help others. The secondary one is doing damage/assist/peel when they can.

DPS/Tank’s main function IS doing damage and taking space. The secondary one is assist/peel when they can.

You dont get choco points for doing what you are supposed to: Support others. Its weird that you think you should get them and for some reason, Tanks/DPS work "dont do anything for you".

There’s a difference because nobody would ask a tank to “pocket someone” like a little slave.
It’s like if your Symmetra asks you to play Rein and be her personal shield.
“Rein press W so I can beam enemies”, “Move one meter to the left now”.
“Rein why did you drop shield? I died. You’re trash”.
Is this common? No. It is with support players though.
You play this game adapting to the situation and not blaming anyone else.
We’re all here to win and not to be little slaves.
This is what I was asked to after 1 minute, basically, and being called trash.

Is this more common being support? Definitely. This is where the concept of being “hard pocketed” comes from and is applied only to supports and not dps or tanks.

I spend the vast majority of my time on support chasing people around with zero situational awareness.

Why are they running into a room with no health pack when I’m standing right next to them spaming group up?

I’ll never know.

Then they proceed to die and spam for heals and/or type something in chat.

I will still heal them, but idiots like that will be cussed out in VC, and I certainly won’t go out of my way to save them when they decide to run in crit when half the team is dead.

Once I started prioritizing my own safety over trying to save every smoothbrain, I started climbing.

I’ll probably climb higher once I say F it and go full DPS support.

It seems to work for the Supports who spend all game in my backline dueling me while nobody else even notices, let alone helps.

Luckily I can fend for myself.

IDK why are you still replying to me when all points have been addressed mate. What are you exactly refuting or responding to now? I already said that to me, theres no difference and already explained why.

This.

I dont know and I havent read about this “hard pocketed” thing till now, all I read in your posts and OP was complains about not getting heals. Not getting heals and wanting to be pocketed are 2 different things.

And again, it doesnt matter. This happened to DPS even in lobbies, 0 minutes, 0 seconds so, nothing new under the sun. Just like I said before:

I don’t think I can get more clear than this.

Blizzard needs to add a “Backfilled Player” icon on the scoreboard.

Definitely.
I started season 1 in Bronze. I was the typical pocket healer.
My endorsement level was 5.
Stopped caring about what people say and only listened to my personal inner voice. I started this season in Plat - although endorsement level is now 3.

Edit: going full dps support is not the solution either. It’s about target prioritization.
I no longer care to keep everyone 100% hp at the same time. It’s about seeing opportunities and enabling the correct people in the right situations.

Aside from skipping 90% of my post, no, i haven’t, because there’s no mention of you being a flex player anywhere, and why should i even care? What does you, being a flex player have anything to do with this topic? I’ll tell you. Nothing.

The point is, that dmg and tank players can’t fill the roles of support players, but support players depending on which one you play, can easily fill the role of a dmg player, whereas tanks just act like bullt sponges for the most part.

Tanks and dmg can’t pocket. They can peel, but do they, though? Hardly. In most cases, they charge off without a single thought in their minds, except one sentence… ‘I need healing!’…

Never insulted anyone in-game, never said i was entitled to peels and i never expect to be peeled, ever. Careful with your assumptions there, bud.

I’m not saying it never happened to tanks and dmg roles, but i will say that OW1 had far more support player abuse, and since the game went F2P, we get even more of it.

It’s not about blame, but about dmg and tank players insulting support players for not pocketing them. That is literally what the topic is about, that is, until you started derailing it with your ‘OoPiNiOoNs’ and weak arguments that can’t even hold water no matter how many times you try to patch them up. But hey, as long as you keep racking up that post count, right? :man_facepalming:

Pretty much everything, because you seem to think I dont play Support or I dont know what is like, which is basically false. And sorry you didnt read but yes Ive mentioned it, do a search my dude, not hard at all.

Never said YOU did. I said that is equally as bad as insulting a Support.
Thats literally the whole point and let me tell you : You havent refuted it, in fact OP agreed to it so :man_shrugging:

This is objectively false mate.
DPS blaming was SO BAD that even a Developer had to address it on an official post. Sorry but that role was the one taking the blame almost all the time. You are not changing history. Again, do your research.

Where does it say “pocket” here?
Again, asking for heals and pocketing are 2 different things.

Its all about blaming, who gets it more, and why. Theres no derail anything here, my answer and my point was focused on that and the fact that its equally bad, and Supports are not VIPs nor are getting worse treatment than anyone.

For anything else, refer to my previous conclusions (if you want to type and search).
Dont wreck your brain, here it is:

PS: Getting triggered for the post count of a user is really weird my dude, but you do you.

Man, she was missing like 50hp due to chip damage, asks me to go Mercy.
Do you understand that what she wanted is an umbilical chord attached to her, hard-pocketing mode?

Dude this is new information you are posting now, you understand that I dont read minds, right? Also you are assuming too, I get that getting insulted is the worst but its still an assumption.

Again, nothing new under the sun, same conclusions apply :person_shrugging:

A lot of support players actually like heal-botting if it can win them the game, but we know that is not happening. It’s really a fine line between supporting, attacking, and defending yourself. No matter what play support makes, they are always going to disappoint someone in the team. The only thing we can do is trying to stay alive as much as possible while doing our jobs.

The support that don’t heal are usually new players, or dps/tanks players flex-queuing onto support.

I have my fair share of not healing Widowmaker, but it is usually because I lost track of their position, since they are often way behind somewhere me or flanking somewhere that it is hard for me to spot quickly. So I really like it if they use the “I need healing” voiceline as they come to me so I can learn which position they run off to after getting heal.

Because this thread wasn’t created about hard pocketing, but about insulting your supports and expecting them to prioritize you. As a kid I was thought that when you ask for something, you do it nicely, not bulling people. Or you may not get what you want, because we’re human and we all get somehow tilted in such situations.

Mate you are stuck on a loop here.
I already said I dont disagree with that, my only point is this weird underlying tone of that being different with Supports than with Tanks/DPS.

I dont think it is, reasons are above. Its all said and done, the conclusions are there. Nothing else. Have good one

But you’re expecting everyone to read your mind, clearly.

Why should i have to search to find info on you? Get off your mile high pedestal, bud.

Might want to rephrase yourself a bit then.

I’d like to see that official post. got a source? Because as i can remember it, they had to step in because it was getting out of hand with all roles, at one point. Not saying i’m not wrong, but that’s how i remember it.

When you troll topic after topic, using weak arguments that don’t hold water, and you put yourself on a mile high pedestal, and have a holier than thou attitude, without really contributing anything then yeah, people tend to get triggered because by all accounts, you’re just posting and arguing for the sake of racking up your post count, like many others do and did before you.

I play support mainly. When I tank and see supports standing around not healing and no awareness where your team is, the I start to flame them as well - because I know how I would play in that situation. It happens too often that a support is right next to me, I am almost dead and my support Ana for example rather scopes in to hit enemies.

It is different.
I made an example before with a Symmetra player asking Rein to be her personal mobile shield.
Let’s add another example, as dps.
I play Ana and I ask my dps to be my personal guard dog. “Soldier you left me alone for a second and I died to Tracer, you’re trash”.
We’re not talking about performance here, we’re talking about asking another player to play the game 100% around them or you’re trash.
This doesn’t really happen with dps or tanks, because the answer would simply be “are you kidding me? You cannot reposition? You cannot use abilities? I have other stuff to do than simply babysit you”.
I think we can agree that there is a greater vision in this game that is not being a personal guard dog but working together to get the most out of each situation and eventually win? You enable the team, you’re not spending your time to boost a single player’s ego and lack of game awareness.

The cycle of overwatch. Supports blame damage dealers for not killing things, damage dealers blame tanks for not taking space and tanks blame supports for not healing them enough.

I play tank and support, but when someone complains it’s nearly always a widow, I’m sorry but a widow is not a high priority for heals she sits far from the fight in the back and barely takes damage and when she does it’s likely to be a one shot kill.

If a widow gets dove though I way up the risk do I risk trying to save her possibly dying myself or do I leave her to her fate staying in the fight for the other 3 teammates.

ooh i have the perfect example for this
Ranked my widow was getting diffed by the other one and refused to swap and started insulting me for no heals…i started pocket healing her dies another 3 times then yelled at me because I did not used suzu xd. You can’t win with those people.

Yeah, there was a video on Reddit where Kiriko where runing around pilar in colosseum coze sojurn had critical health, Kiriko at some point tp to her and sojurn just swoosh with her slide ability on the other side of wall. With half HP.
Video ends with Kiriko looking at sojurn behind wall they run in to enemy team.

What the hell we as support could do with that?

Heroes with LoS, AoE, Beam/nudle, spray - the only down side is that they are always Out of the range or not been in LoS like behind or directly above me.

The only best healing is auto tracking healing (brig repair pack) coze they cannot be destroyed while hiting the wall, they go through the bariers and shields, the only counter to repair pack is dva matrix and sigma grasp. But still the limitation is distance and to heal 200hp you need throw 3 of them.

DPS on critical health:
Healing sources :angry::raised_hand:
Stand next to health pack and spam :smirk::point_right:
Get more Dmg :heart_eyes::point_right:
Run from support, spam and call supports trash :hot_face:
