i hear yaâŚitâs tough, for sure, but, i myself can tell you it IS possibleâŚyou just have to be patient.
I used to be a bottom 500 player in OW1, and could NEVER climbâŚhowever, either OW2 changed something, or maybe ive actually improved a little (LOL, yeah right)âŚbut, i dont play comp a lot anyway, due to only being solo queue and only playing on the weekends. However, after initially placing at bronze 5, ive managed to climb to almost silver 3 (im at about 78% into silver 4 right now), and while i do have some games that go upâŚthen some that go down, ive found it IS possibleâŚjust takes a lot of effort.
The first thing you need to do is relax, dont go into games tilted. First and foremost, rememberâŚTHIS IS A GAMEâŚno need to take it seriously. It doesnt make you and less of a man or woman if you cant be a GM player, not everyone is cut out for things like that. So the first thing you need to do is just try to have fun in the game, because, thatâs what its really all about. Then, dont fret the losses, and understand that you ARE going to face smurfs, you ARE going to face horrible matchmaking, and you ARE going to face playing with teammates who you think are just terrible. Whats key is to make sure you do YOUR best, try to play as a team, despite others wanting to do their own thing, after all, you can only control what YOU do, so make the best of it.
Also realize that, this game is about strategy. Many think itâs just a shooter, but itâs not. You need to be thinking of this game like a game of chess. What moves are you going to make compared to what your team is going to make, in relation to what the other team is doing. This is the part i struggle withâŚafter decades of OCD and anxiety, my mind has been turned to mush because of all the constant thinking and worryingâŚso these days im just kind of âblehââŚbut, i tryâŚitâs just that i cant keep all these things in my head, positions, ults, all that⌠anyway, thatâs another topic, not this one lol
Also, remember, people actually put in a LOT of time into practice. Aim trainers, watching youtube videos, paying for one on one coaching. Thereâs a lot more going on behind the scenes of some of these players that one would realize. The amount of time some of these people put into OW, could be considered a second job!
Anyway, i know, long winded, sorry. Just realize that, not everyone can climb, i think, by far, the largest section of comp is in the gold rank and below. As you go up, the player base thins out because there are just not as many GM level players as there are bronze-gold, i personally think they are all robotsâŚespecially the genjisâŚyeah, dont deny itâŚyou are all AI drivenâŚi KNOW IT!
anyway, try to relax and have FUN first and foremost, let the rest come naturally, or invest time and see if you can improve faster.
