Improving yourself doesn't matter

… when you have teammates who don’t care when you play competitive. Before you say things along the lines of “git gud” or “get in a stack” or saying things about your experience or something like that, the fact that this game plays like HotS with a shooter element and streamlined objectives (which is basically push and secure or defend and denying the push), and everyone’s experiences vary so much, it really doesn’t help that the best way to avoid players who troll/grief until “Defeat” are happening rampantly, I can see and feel why the in-game community is just disgusting… because it just feels like the ones who care about trying to win have either just joined the banned wagon or stopped playing.

Don’t get me wrong, I like this game alot. I am just frustrated with how its left with. We can practice as much as we can and want, but that’s literally just us individually, when the next guys who we may end up playing with are pricks who don’t care about getting “Victory” on their screens just absolutely deny it. It just ends up on which team has a harder thrower.

Improving is not enough you also need to grind enough games so that the randomness of solo queue no longer applies both teams have the exact same issues with the leavers/throwers/trolls it balances out just play more games and don’t be toxic.

I played three games yesterday all three had a leaver one on the enemy team twice on mine one game was a free win two were free losses am I complaining about it no because I don’t play anywhere near enough games to get an accurate reading on my SR.

If you want to climb be better than your peers and grind there are no shortcuts unless you want to risk being banned.

I’m not asking for a shortcut, I just don’t want anymore of those pricks who keep tripping me at almost every turn no matter what route.

What do you mean by “those pricks”?

Trolls/Griefers… in which alot of people say “everyone gets them” but almost no one talks about how often one can get them.

Are we talking about people who jump off the map or AFK or people who pick certain heroes?

Yep, and they do worse.

Unfortunately, in a team game, your luck is indeed a big factor. But by improving you can increase your odds of winning.

By what? An arbitrary single digit percent that is easily nullified by Gambler’s Fallacy coupled with the inadequacy of Blizzard’s automated report system?

Before you tell me to play with friends and make more friends… trust me, I’ve been there, done that, most of them have quit the game.

Don’t know what to tell you the answer to your probelm is to group up but it sounds like you don’t want to hear it. This is a fairly social game you should try to make some friends!

Its not that I don’t want to hear it, its more of if your solution is what I’ve heard before and have tried (repeatedly and at some point desperately), I guess what I’ve read before on many forum posts (even back when we had the old forums prior to this forums) that alot of people don’t even like being in voice chat, mute everyone, and a few even saying that they lowered the voice chat volume to zero… I dunno, man. Rainbow Six Siege looks and sounds way more social than Overwatch. Only thing keeping me from moving to Siege is the sheer movement speed, even with 3 speed operators, and that I’m really itching for an actual fast-paced shooter that isn’t dead, janky, or left to rot by its devs.

I really wish Lawbreakers didn’t die.

Do you think a bronze player and a grandmaster could switch places and they would maintain/stuck the SR from each other accounts? Luck is a factor between others.
If your skill enables you to win 50% of the games where people play seriously, you will derank because of the joke games. If you improve yourself, you will be able to win more. The number of throwers stays the same independent of how good or bad you are.

So, you expect me to not only try and carry myself, but also win an effective 5v6 repeatedly? Or hope that if they do have someone throwing, their thrower is throwing harder? This isn’t CSGO, Siege, TF2, or even Quake Champions.

If you don’t improve you won’t be able to win even a 6v6, that’s what I’m saying.

I can honestly say improving will have you climb. I started very low in S1 (24-28sr) and I have gradually climbed higher each season and I finally got to Plat this season which was my long term goal.

I used to feel like you but I decided to take things into my own hands and try to figure out what I was doing wrong. I realized after taking a hard look at my play that I was making a lot of mistakes and not positioning properly. I also had to work on my reaction time and split second decision making. The better I’ve gotten at this the higher I have climbed.

You are likely making mistakes that you don’t even realize you are making as I know that is what I discovered. Focusing on things that you can’t control are not going to help you figure those out.

By your logic, you are assuming I’m throwing or griefing by playing an Attack Symmetra or Attack Torbjorn.

Well in my experience my friends list is quite large now I typically get an auto invite when I log in from someone and I never have to deal with throwers playing mostly 4-6 locks.

Here’s the flaw in that. You don’t take into account that roles exist in the game. Yes, everyone makes mistakes and its up to us to learn from them. But the problem is trying to win when atleast one person on your team wants to lose… then it half the time becomes a domino effect when your teammates just stop caring and end up throwing along with them. When its a fair match, neither team has a thrower, everyone’s trying their hardest (I don’t care if they say I should KMS, they slept with my mother, or tell me I’m bad, because I’ve heard and felt worse), a win is great and a loss is a lesson… just not when its getting frequent that you get one person on your team in a crapton of games, where someone wants to lose.

I don’t know what it was like in the previous seasons, but as far as my experience… its like Blizzard cares less and less every season. They bring out something new and what not, but it just feels half-hearted.

It sounds like that, but have you seen McCrees who AFK, Winstons who dive in but don’t even left-click and just stand there saying “Hi”, Doomfists who dive repeatedly, 4-5 DPS on your team because they want to practice? I could go on with the examples, but I’d rather be with those few Torb and Sym mains who play to win if it was a devil’s advocate kind of scenario.

This is not how Gambler’s Fallacy works, it doesn’t “nullify” anything, let alone personal improvement. Keep playing and you will experience freewins because of throwers on the enemy team - and you will experience close games which you can win by getting better than the avarage player on your current rank.

I dislike poor teamwork and communication as much as the next guy, but this doesn’t keep anyone down in the long run.

Also, I receive pretty frequently messages that action was taken against some account I reported.

Seeing as that you are in Platinum and me being in Platinum for 8 Seasons and finally reaching Diamond on my main account with Sym/Torb, I rarely encountered situations like the ones you’re encountering and as often as you’re encountering them.

Maybe it’s the time and days you’re playing Competitive.

Considering it’s also Spring Break for kids, don’t expect much in Competitive. I lost all the games I played when I played for 5 hours because kids wanted to be kids yesterday.
