*Important* OW2: About Phone Numbers

It is a question. You are supposed to answer those.

This. I have 4 kids who play with me. We only play QP because comp stresses the younger ones out. They were more excited than I was about the release of 2, and now they might not even get to play. I’d rather they left 1 open or just sold copies of 2, rather than this false F2P platform.

This saddens me knowing about your situation :disappointed: I’m sorry that you and your children can’t play. They are loosing valuable players over this. I havd never seen such a thing before in all if my time gaming.

What about multiple people in one household, who all play but do not have a cell phone for each person?

and a urine sample and full biometrics

Yeah exactly. It’s more like “Overwatch 2, brought to you by Verizon & AT&T”

Battle.net will not accept my mobile phone number. My number has NEVER been pre-paid or VOIP. I am in the US, my country on my account matches the country my phone is registered in. I have had the same phone number for years. I am now unable to log into Overwatch (which I paid for) in addition, apparently, to not being able to play OW2 when it launches. Am I supposed to buy a new mobile phone and/or get a new mobile phone number to play the game I paid for (Overwatch) and the upcoming F2P (OW2)? Not happy at all right now. If Blizzard isn’t going to allow me to play the game I paid for, then they should refund the Watchpoint pack I purchased, and my tickets to the OW Grand Finals in Anaheim. This is absolutely frustrating beyond belief that I am locked out of a game I have played for years due to a technical issue where my phone number is not being recognized. I have a legitimate, non pre-paid, non VOIP, mobile phone with a major carrier here in the US. I attempted to submit a support ticket but the page just spins so I’m assuming there are a LOT of people with issues. Super disappointing.

I’m dying to see the launch day numbers for player concurrency.

That’s not true. Battle.net will not accept my mobile phone number. My number has NEVER been pre-paid or VOIP. I am in the US and both my Battle.net account and phone are US. I am now locked out of Overwatch (which I paid for) in addition, apparently, to not being able to play OW2 when it launches. Am I supposed to buy a new mobile phone and/or get a new mobile phone number to play the game I paid for (Overwatch) and the upcoming F2P (OW2)?

Forums are going to be flooded with people who don’t keep up with OW news

They won’t be of any help anyway. They said to me that they don’t accept pre-paid numbers. If your number isn’t pre-paid then check you’ve entered it correctly and that your account matches the country your phone is registered in.

If your number is pre-paid then they can’t work around the rules to enter your number manually or allow it. Either find an alternative number or you’re out of luck :man_shrugging:

I’m on monthly contract with my provider in the UK. My number didn’t work, said I had to enter a post-paid number. My mums number did work who has a monthly contract with the same provider. But I unlinked it to try my own again and when trying to re enter it, it stopped working and I got the same message again.

It’s inconsistent as ****

Hope you get something sorted out

When you input your number, what does it say when it comes up?

I ask because for the most part, I can’t tell anymore if this is a glitch on their end or if there really is something wrong with the numbers themselves? I believe you when you say your number is non pre paid and not VOIP. I am seeing a lot of people in your position, as well as people WITH post paid plans who cannot get in and certain providers are being excluded too.

There are also people with pre paid plans that are in but I noticed all who said this are either outside the US or had their number inputed years and years ago. This is just an observation I picked up on.

There is so much involved atm, and it is so case by case that I can’t figure out the true issue.

I too am very frusterated as I have put a lot of time, blood, sweat, and money into this game that I enjoy. I honestly hope you get through to support but I heard there isn’t much they can do.

I get an error: Please enter a post-paid phone number. When I click on learn more, I get a description of pre-paid and VOIP services not qualifying. I took an extra step and have learned that VOIP includes any bundled service. So, for example if you have bundled internet and phone with a carrier, your phone could automatically become VOIP without you knowing it. That’s a huge issue given that we all use the internet to play OW and I’m sure a good portion of players have bundled services. I’m also seriously wondering how they are going to handle this because there are so many scenarios where people won’t qualify due to this crazy requirement.

I don’t have a pre-paid phone so I’m hoping they don’t give me the same response. It’s so unfortunate. I don’t have an alternative and my phone number should qualify given Blizzard’s guidelines. Best of luck to you as well. I definitely have the impression this won’t be addressed and the company doesn’t care. I’m already getting mentally prepared to just stop playing because Blizzard clearly doesn’t want me as a customer.

That is so messed up. It’s like they get you at every angle. I’m pretty sure I have a bundle so I’m officially out of this now…ontop of being pre paid since I have Metro by T Mobil, which is a odd considering how large Metro and Cricket are. Sucks because I was planning on buying the premium pass but oh well.

I’m honestly wondering how launch day is going to go too. I can’t imagine it going smoothly at this point.

“Most people can afford a phone”

Tell me you know nothing about the world without telling me you know nothing about the world.

I am making this comment in hopes to gain attention to this post, and to say “well said”

Thank you so much. Everybody deserves a chance to play this game and to not need to literally “pay the price” for it. I honestly was very upset over this and I hope to they do something about this.

If you cant afford a phone in this day and age, you have other issues than not being able to play a video game. How would you even afford the console or PC to play the game on, if a phone is too expensive for you? People play the victim card for whats like 0.01% of the playerbase while everyone is fully aware that the vast majority of people being upset are people who lose a high amount of alts/smurf accounts.

Toxics like you should really be excluded, not a large number of good players.
