Yeah and they somehow always end up on the enemy team huh
Love playing this game with my kids, but as young teens they only need pre-paid plan (in this case Cricket wireless) and now the game is being taken away from them. I cant imagine the younger crowd have much choice in this matter as they are unable to get a post-paid phone plan. Looked up the stats for the USA - 37% of mobile phone users are pre-paid as on 2022…I only see this % going up
You say give them a chance People are letting out their frustration because they have been let down the last couple few years. But you are right surely it will be different this time
And why have we been let down the last couple of years? Because we haven’t had new content? Because OW2 was repeatedly delayed?
All of these things can point to a lack of funding and essentially losing the entirety of 2020 because it was such a cluster-you-know-what. I totally understand the frustration and need to vent. It’s just the absolute condemnation that’s really upsetting.
The gaming model changed A LOT since 2016.
Look, there’s nothing anyone can do to replace to salty and sore feelings from disappointment over the last few years. Nothing. I feel like the OW team has repeatedly been trying and making an effort to connect with us while navigating a lot of BS - gaming changes, no $$, Jeff leaving, the SA debacle, the pandemic - some of those let downs aren’t within their control.
It would just be nice if people could also recognize that, too. It’s not like they go to work every day, sit down, and start a meeting, “Okay guys, how can we REALLY make our player base suffer today?”
So, I really have no idea how programming or anything works but I was wondering if Blizz could provide low monthly service with their own numbers or ID codes they can provide tied to their own battlenet servers? Perhaps it can be tied to their own app so people can get notifications via email?
Honestly, I don’t really know any other way aside from them doing their own service.
Starting with “Sure, but maybe” anything is very toxic. Are you still single by chance? Looking for an ahole with and opinion
This isn’t an actual reply to their response. It’s a personal attack.
Man, I can’t believe oW2 is a shadow of its former self.
Okay. Give me your phone number.
For me I have no reason for a phone, my phone (which was a handmedown) broke back in July. I have asperger’s and socializing is quite difficult to me, one of my biggest barriers is answering a phone, which makes me not need one even more. I also have no real life friends and if I need to contact my Dad for any reason I can just pick up the house phone and call them instead
Luckily though, I had put my number for that phone onto my account before it broke, otherwise I’d be in a similar position.
Unless… UNLESS they are going to delete our numbers and make us reenter our numbers… that terrifies me to think about lol.
Regarding the “Free to Play” point you mentioned a few times in the OP…
“Free to Play” doesn’t, nor has it ever, meant that everything about playing that game is actually “free”. Internet is usually not free. A PC isn’t free. Especially a PC with the minimum requirements needed to play OW.
So by requiring a phone number, OW isn’t suddenly going back on a supposed promise for it being Free to Play, because the actual game is still free to play, which is what “Free to Play” means and implies.
So I’m just pointing out that the “this is no longer f2p because of the phone number” argument doesn’t really hold water, in my opinion.
As far as the rest of your post, I’m not dismissing it or arguing that it’s invalid in anyway. I do think the tradeoff is necessary in order to finally have a game with integrity, but I also totally hear your side of this issue and I do, very much, wish there was a way for well-intentioned players to verify their account in a way that is free, yet difficult for ill-intentioned players to duplicate for nefarious accounts.
What even lol
I doubt someone out there is like “okay this game is going free to play so I’m going to buy a $2,000 computer”
they’d have already owned the computer/console blah blah if they were actual gamers
As ‘of good faith’ as this post is the context just does not line up.
When players say “I don’t feel like X company cares about me” it is exactly because of the choice they made, have made, or continue to make that exhibit that.
It is kind of like if your friend knows you hate country music, and you ask them not to play it around you, if they do it a few times you will think it is an honest mistake and they just forgot. If they continue to do it, no matter how nice the individual is it will ultimately become a question on your mind if they actually care about your interests and dislikes as a person and further more if they care about you.
Rampage is not the best carriage for delivering a message, but it is the fastest and it does send the message the hardest. This is not a situation that, imo, can be rectified with the dulce sounds of complacent thought and construction. People are being done wrong in multiple directions:
-
Legacy players who bought the game are now locked out of an 8 year investment if their phone carrier is not accepted by Blizzard under any circumstance (there are even people with post paid numbers saying their phones are not being accepted, I will take this with a grain of salt, but if true that is a problem for F2P players soon as well.)
-
No one should have to buy another completely optional (yes, telephones are optional and no matter how much ‘get with the times’ ‘don’t be broke’ ‘my uncle/cousin/mama/newphew has a phone’ spiel people want to spill, it is a reasonable and valid thing to both financially and personally not have obligations to have an added device) phone and should not become a precursor to need it for gaming.
-
Every single person in multiple threads has given out good reasons why this is ridiculous. From people in other countries who have phone numbers literally tied to their real life identification, to other people mentioning they use pre-paid because the service is bad in their country or state, to others not wanting a phone so they use voip because they do not make many calls, etc etc. Everyone here has a different case even inside ‘the norm’ and when your way of life is affected even for simple novelties it is really hard to just be chill about it.
I get what you are trying to do and get across, but this is not one of those times you want to be cheerleading Blizzard.
I’m already using mine, sorry. Ask your brother or something.
love u too hun
i have no reason to care if u believe me or not. just thought i’d put that out there.
consoles and gaming PCs are expensive. how could u own these things but not a phone?
Ahh, I see what you are saying haha I would like to clarify what I meant. While yes, you will need a PC/console/tablet/phone or whatever to play any game, what I mean to say is that a F2P is what is says, and is “free” in terms of just jumping in with no issues and that you can start playing immediately as opposed to not needing to buy a game for 60 bucks. That to me, is a “F2P” game because I am not paying for the game at a price and if so, micro transactions are optional as I can still play the game just fine without them.
everytime someone gives me a stupid reply like this they’re a PC player you guys have genuinely no idea how good u got it when it comes to the smurfing issue.
also, i dont like it when they’re on my team either.
I honestly feel like you are playing daft to play daft.
Your back leg is to keep asking a question that has valid responses and you ignore them in favor of parroting the same rhetoric you are conditioned to.
People get PCs and consoles as gifts.
People have hand-me-down PCs and Consoles if family or friends upgrade.
People can have saved thousands of dollars before for a computer or console while not being in a good financial state.
The Pandemic is still a thing.
We are in a recession and heading towards a depression globally.
People can have built their PCs piece by piece which is cheaper and sometimes a long term time and money investment as opposed to an instant buy.
The world you live in where people just drop money on something at point blank must be a wonderful life to lead, but it is not everybody’s and not all people prioritize their luxuries or necessities the same way you or I do.
This is a joke and your replies have been nothing but a falling house of cards ever since you began speaking on this topic.
