I guess it’s always possible, but they seem to be dead set against giving secondary beam more range, and that’s pretty much the only buff I actually care about right now. 15m is so stumpy without either mobility (like Mercy has) or self-sustain (like Moira has).
I don’t know what they would buff that wouldn’t make her overbearing once again
She has so low pickrate, got two buffs in previous seasons, but still has the lowest pickrate ever. So I guess even damage buffs will not make her overbearing. Cause her only one utility – damage and heal. And damage is not good, and heal without pylon is not good. And ultimate also is not good. As I said somewhere, old Illari compensated bad ult realization by damage. Currently after S9 changes and rifle’s damage nerf she can’t able do that. Mostly Illari just spams damage without kills (cause her damage easy to overheal) or just finishes low hp enemies
I fear nobody actually wants to play Illari unless she’s broken. When she’s bad or even in a balanced state, she usually has 1% or less pickrate. It’s only when she’s really strong people start playing her. Same issue with sojourn. Those two barely have any actual mains that play them in their ups and downs.
Compare that to someone like tracer or genji or mercy that have a vast playerbase of mains that will force the character even when they’re F tier
She was better self-pocketing Ashe for a while, but now Ashe is… better Ashe. She’s another short-sighted hero design like Sojourn and Mauga who are only played when numerically overtuned, and subsequently take over the game because of their kit that should be kept weak on purpose. Launch Illari actually made me quit for a while
Her only limiting factor is the pylon. Her other set just normal or I can say it that unique. Also she has the problem same for other niche supports that is Ana, Kiriko, Juno too universal. The rest cannot compete with their reliability. So either we need buff Illari, either nerf these three
My rework idea. It wouldnt even require that many changes but it instantly makes her a much healthier character.
Right now she is just straight up underperforming. She does nothing better then any other support and loses out even to moira.
No, only Ana will get buffed today. We all know how underpowered Ana is and how no one picks her ever.

They vehemently seem to be against fundamental changes to Illari, Mauga, Lifeweaver, etc, so… I won’t get my hopes up. I don’t know why they keep trying to salvage them.
This team has a history of reworking non problematic heroes and leaving problematic heroes exactly the same. How long have we been begging for a widow rework now? Or bap? Or an actual good brig rework?
Worst of all the rework im suggesting could be done with workshop tools except maybe two animations. It not even THAT much work and instantly removes a problematic design from the game.
She’s a conundrum of a character. Long range poke damage with close range heal abilities. Does super well in the right hands but poorly in the wrong ones.
Or reworking problematic heroes to be just as problematic… but stronger… while retaining exactly what makes them problematic
Her range is 30 meters and she does less damage then ana. Ana doesnt have falloff.
Even so illari still loses damage wise to bap and zen.
Even in the best possible hands illari will not outperform any other support in the same hands.
All they need to do is rework illari’s rate of fire because out of every hero it has no actual rhythm to it.
Reduce itr’s overall dps but make it more consistant so it’s still effectively the same
E.g. (Basic maths version rn)
50 per hit at it’s current 2 second interval
25 per hit at a more consistent 1 second interval between full charged shots
((I’ma ware the numbers are out but rn it feels strange))
Or just making them worse like hog.

Devs:“we made him more resistant against anti ”
I actually think her charge and fire is ehat makes her the best hitscan design.
In my rework i gave her fully charged hits 85 damage. That means she can two tap 250 heroes. But with her charge time it means that unlike ash or widow she wont kill too fast and anything below 250 will have the same ttk as 250 heroes.
She has the potential to be amazing she is just held back by the awfull design that is her turret
Yea, this is more what I meant when I said she’s long range. It feels like she needs to play at range because of the wait time you need between shots. Doing anything up close feels off if your not able to just start shooting. Like how Widow and Ash each have a faster fire option if needed. And while you can spam with her it doesn’t feel good.
I was laughing hysterically when saw how old Bastion was better than current one (in classic). And doing it seeing how it feels itself better on the same level with other DPSes with self-repair. Seems like the new reworks (except Phara’s and Orisa’s ones) even don’t work. Seems like old heroes worked a pretty better with their job
Also her current damage output is just simply not high enough to deal with anything up close. You need three charged headshots to kill a 225/250.
So imagine being flanked by a 300 hp reaper. Good luck.
