The game does nothing, you have to manually report it, and good luck getting anything done as a result.
Why did they put in a filter for something as petty as GG EZ, but people are 100% allowed to just tell others to kill themselves without immediate consequence?
This kind of thing should result in an instant ban, pending review.
Your right about kys part. But you dont know what your talking about gg ez. Type gg ez at the end of the game and comeback and tell me what youve learned.
Reminder that youâre calling out a company that has like a billion lawsuits against them for doing random crap thatâs unethical, not to mention even OW2 is literally an anti-fun wallet sucking vacuum.
Theyâre not going to do anything. Their automated report system will. Report and move on.
âgg ezâ is censored as a joke. If it was actually an offense they would actually take action against the account right away instead of just replacing the content of the message.
The game also DOES have filters that, by default, do already filter that out. To even see that message, you have to go to settings and set chat settings to unfiltered. I could be misremembering (or maybe a different game that did this) but I think the first time it even warns you about doing so.
People should not be automatically banned for the things they say - it should be up to the community to decide what is appropriate.
The joke would work better if the auto reply back was only sent via team chat instead of all chat cause people just spam it for that auto message alone and makes chat even worse.
They messed up on making everyone see you be immature.
âggezâ without the space is replaced with a variety of silly phrases. Why do you need to be uppity about this? That is not the thing to take away from this post.
yeah im pretty sure telling people to unalive themselves should be actioned heavily tho outside of friend/group chat
friends can banter however they want and if the rest of the stack wants to act on it, they have the option
And then someone types something like âwith Bastions new ult you can kill yourselfâ or âNumbani skyscraperâ and they get censored or, as you suggested, instantly banned.
This is a game about killing. I agree that they should be reported and actioned, but not automatically censored.
Nah, I have my chat censored and âkysâ isnât one of the things thatâs censored.
This is why itâs not filtered, because this is how gamers are and Blizzard devs are, contrary to popular belief, true gamers. Hence all the issues they have with harassing women at the company. This company is gamers through and through. Everyone telling you to âjust deal with itâ is saying exactly what the people at Blizzard really think. Thereâs no reason to keep it, they just donât care.
You donât, then, because before I made this post I logged in to verify what I said was true. In order for that to not be censored, you have to have the chat filter set to âunfiltered.â Otherwise it appears as â***â
Fair warning: Any post even referencing the âoff yourselfâ term, full or shortened version, seems to trigger some stupid auto flag thing and Blizz âstaffâ will delete your post for abuse.
Both âFriendlyâ and âMatureâ produced â***â for both lowercase and uppercase. Only when set to âUnfilteredâ did it actually allow it through. I do not recall which of the other two is actually the default, but both filter it.
You may want to double check your text filters if you dont expect to and dont want to see this kind of language.
Perhaps they did something to avoid the text filters, like making it part of some other word or spacing out the letters (e.g. 3 letters with spaces instead of all one acronym). Otherwise you should be able to easily test for yourself in practice range and just type it into chat to confirm.
DBDâs randomly shoveled in censorship that you canât opt out of is a testament to this problem. Itâs a game where in order to let someone else live, for example, you must kill yourself and itâll censor that in postgame chat. At random times it just censors words that should be fine, including character names and actions literally written into perks and powers. Itâs obscene.
