I dont really think the name should be changed for a loser scumbag, but it is happening so not much we can do.

They named it to honor an employee. They even admit it’s a bad cowboy name, considering there’s a quote in the game that says just that.
No, it’s not like that at all. Again, mcree was SPECIFICALLY named after this person. It’s not just happening to be the same name.
Also, there’s a huge difference between naming a character in a video game and naming someone something in real life. Often times, characters are modeled after real life individuals, as a sort of honor. If they behave horribly, they shouldn’t have that honor anymore.

He wasn’t SPECIFICALLY named for this person. If his name didn’t sound cowboyish he wouldn’t be named that. So it was a coincidence that his name was appropriate and they decided to “honor” the developer that way.

They said that the dev team made the decision so that they can keep going without being constantly reminded by the guy they named the in game McCree after.

I think you’re really over reacting. As far as lore goes this is a very easy change to make. Its pretty heavily implied that Jesse mccree is not his real name. There are tons of ways they could retcon this without it looking bad or sloppy.
